I don't know that Daniels is going to have much effect on Jones price tag anyway.

Mecca 07-25-2019 10:35 AM

I don't either to be honest, but if they sign Mike Daniels to more than a year I'd certainly think that adds to speculation that the Chiefs are willing to move on from Jones.

Why am I getting the feeling we might jettison another defensive star for next to nothing?

Jones isnt worth Cox money but just because we sign him doesnt mean Jones is done here. We control him for the next few seasons regardless. Everyone agrees this is a championship contender why the **** wouldnt they want to add another piece of a position that struggled?

This is where I’m at. If your defense likely won’t be great at all positions groups, then we should at least be elite at one and good at the rest.

The shit run defense the last few years started up front. Get that figured out and you give your LBs a chance.

Dante84 07-25-2019 08:46 PM

Should we decide to part with Jones, the only thing that gives me comfort is that no one we’ve let go of has gone on to do anything special... yet. Kareem Hunt may be the outlier.

But Peters went on to suck ass. I don’t expect Ford to play his contract worth. Berry hasn’t signed. Bailey took forever to get signed.

If we trade Jones (and I don’t want to, but if we do) then there must be some truth to his freelancing and not playing his role correctly despite being told/coached otherwise. He is a wonderful talent, but I think Veach has earned our trust.

Sometimes you have to pick, for todays league if I have to pick between Hill and Jones I'm going to pick Hill every time.

I’m assuming most teams will try to play keep away with us again this year, so we should see teams trying to run the ball on us again.

If we can get this guy on a 1-year deal, I’d do it all day.

A DL of Clark, Jones, Daniels, and Okafor would be elite. Then you have Nnadi, Saunders, Ogbah, and Speaks as depth. I’d assume Williams and Kpass are gone at that point.

There will be zero excuses for our LBs in the run game if they’re playing behind that line.

You could do some really interesting shit and line up Jones and Clark as your ends with Daniels and Nnadi in at DT, it would give a lot of options.

Amazing

Hoover 07-26-2019 09:27 AM

Saw reports that Veach was trying to trade for him. So clearly there is legit interest, I just can't see paying this guy decent coin when we have Jones and Hill yet to deal with. Unless, Veach is all in for this year and is not going to give Hill or Jones new contracts.

All in moment?

If you can do a 1 year deal, it wouldn't really affect those deals much.

That's fine I mean theres no objective talk on here anymore now that the Chiefs are good but if you compare the rosters you'll see outside of QB, TE, and Offensive line the Browns have a better roster. Daniel's probably wont sign there because that D-Line is stacked while we hope broke dicks like Speaks and Ogbah workout.

It’s the same thing that happened with McCoy.

These guys just want to play against the teams that cut them twice a year.

And just like McCoy people on CP assumed he was going to NE or Cleveland LMAO

Yeah. The famous Super Bowl contending Lions LOL

staylor26 07-26-2019 02:26 PM

The Lions roster is actually pretty decent on paper. They got two young weapons in Golladay and Keryon with Marvin Jones coming back from injury. Drafted Hock. They’ve added Flowers and Daniels on that DL.

They might be a surprise playoff team.

Kiimo 07-26-2019 02:26 PM

The Lions will be better this year, word out of camp is Hockenson is virtually unguardable.

they also have some decent running backs.

They're the last place team...

They are not better than the Bears, Packers or Vikings.

ChiefBlueCFC 07-26-2019 02:32 PM

The positive of him signing with Detroit is he didn't go to a rival AFC team or a team that the Chiefs will face in the super bowl

Everyone is a contender this time of year. Apparently the Lions are the contender with the biggest checkbook or at least the most willing to open it up wide for him.

I’m with you here. Plus Stafford wasn’t healthy last season.

If he is... they’re tough. Probably the best run defense in the NFL.

Frat boy isn't a good coach and they hired a shitty OC. They are definitely the worst team in the NFC North.

big nasty kcnut 07-26-2019 04:21 PM

Have we made fun of this piece of shit yet?

The Franchise 07-26-2019 04:24 PM

Lions signed DL Mike Daniels to a one-year, $9.1 million contract.

The deal includes $7.8 million fully guaranteed. Daniels was due $8.1 million from the Packers before his release, so this is a good rebound. The Packers can't be thrilled Daniels is staying in the division after failing to get a trade done. With Daniels, Trey Flowers, and Damon Harrison, Detroit has the makings for a very strong defensive front.

No thanks.

This has been the narrative for a long, long time it feels like.

They're a 7-9 football team and likely to finish at the bottom of their division. The Lions are consistently mediocre regardless of talent.

RunKC 07-26-2019 04:42 PM

Coaching matters. That’s the make-or-break. But the Lions are infested with Patriot Way bullshit like we were in the late 2000’s.

I feel very badly for them. Them and the Browns are the longest suffering franchises and it looks like the Browns could be winning a playoff game soon.

I fully expect them to finish last in that division, but I also wouldn’t be completely shocked if they surprise people and have the best season they’ve had in a long time. I know it’s the Lions, and that’s why I expect them to fail, but that doesn’t change the fact that their roster is actually good enough to do it. They have the talent.

I still think they're the least talented team in that division. Pretty good DL on paper, but a lot of holes in other areas.
