Sure no all stars but there is probably better options. Chris Ivory or CJ Anderson who if you remember was signed this late last year by the Rams and they rode him to the SB. I get that he knows the system but he looked like shit last year and with the Colts.

BWillie 12-03-2019 04:20 PM

Why is Ware even available? He would probably be our best strictly best run first half back. 4.7ypc in his career. Don't care he doesn't have breakaway speed. Alot of it is seeing holes and vision. Hes also pretty solid off first contact

He's also a good receiver out of the backfield. This signing makes a lot of sense in our short run to the playoffs. Get'r done.

Buehler445 12-03-2019 04:26 PM

He should be good for 7 games. Let's roll.

I think he was recovering from ankle surgery when the Colts signed him, then cut him shortly after...I believe the Colt's signed Charcandrick West as well, and cut him too.

Well if they do sign him, maybe #38 or #39.

#20 - #29 all taken with #28 RB Abner Haynes - retired.
#30 - RB Elijah McGuire and CB Alex Brown (practice squad)
#31 - RB Darrel Williams
#32 - S Tyrann Mathieu
#33 - RB Stone Johnson - Retired #
#34 - RB Darwin Thompson
#35 - CB Charvarius Ward
#36 - RB Mack Lee Hill - Retired #
#37 - RB Joe Delaney - Not officially retired, but they have not been using it since Joe's passing.

And **** anybody who tries to use Kimble Anders' #38!!!

He's an immediate upgrade over Damien, too. An even bigger one. I'm not Damien's biggest fan, though.

BleedingRed 12-03-2019 04:54 PM

Honestly he is perfect for our system. He has always had great hands for catching, and he has never averaged less than 4.3 yards a carry. If he could just stay healthy was always his problem.

He’s just a good tough player who can do a bit of everything.

I think I read that same post about 20 times last year when CJ Anderson signed with the Rams...

Oh and Mike Pennel...

The reality is that some good veteran players pick and choose when and where they wanna play. Spencer was still living in the area to my knowledge. He was also injured, hence the reason the Colts let him go.

He didn’t have to come back and play necessarily, but like he said, there’s unfinished business in KC.

Both Williams are going to be out. If Damien was healthy they probably wouldn't have signed Ware.

We need to seriously upgrade our RB's next year.

Now that I think about it, isn't ware basically darrel Williams. Either darrel is going to IR. Or ware is a short term signing until darrel is back. Im guessing the latter.

More to do with his injuries I imagine. Running back is not a position the Colts need to reinforce - they are solid there.

Usually I would agree if we were talking about other positions, but at RB being fresh is such a help. Sure he's coming off an injury but he has fresh legs and he's ready to go. This is really going to be a jump start to our offense.

Career YPC
McCoy (potential HOF running back, just 31 yrs old) 4.5 ypc
Damien Williams 3.9 ypc
Darrell Williams 3.4 ypc

Ware is at 4.7 ypc and fresh.

4.7 ypc would be 12th in the NFL this year.

80pct of this board is jerking off to Mike Pennel and he was eating Cheetos watching the first several games of the season on his couch.

The bar is low for our RBs and Spencer Ware knows the system. He at least gives us continuity. You don’t need to be excited about this signing to understand its logic.

Agreed.

CJ Anderson is too much of a power back and Andy Reid avoids them at all cost. Guys like Ware and Darrel Williams are as far as he's prepared to go in terms of power backs.

We never should have gotten rid of Carlos Hyde.

Agreed.

CJ Anderson is too much of a power back and Andy Reid avoids them at all cost. Guys like Ware and Darrel Williams are as far as he's prepared to go in terms of power backs.

We never should have gotten rid of Carlos Hyde.

I like this signing even more now!

Le sigh.

Hopefully Ware is well rested and what this offense needs. He doesn't need to be a world beater to be the best RB of this group. Just hold on to the ball, catch a few, block well.

I was worried the first guy in this video was Ware when I saw it.

I hope that Ware can be impactful, but he's obviously not going to be in game shape. By the time he's in game shape, both Williams will likely be back.

Eh, he doesn't need to be ready to carry the ball 30 times. He just needs to be able to spell Shady and Thompson a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a couple drives this week.
