Spags gets a pass.

Is that the official statement from one of the coaches, or just speculation?

Pennel was signed only 2 weeks prior and played against Minnesota. The Chiefs have a pretty conservative approach when it comes to player health. Maybe the dude was just not ready, physically, to play two games in a row since he was signed off the street in week 8 or 9.

Pennel has played every game since. A rather large stretch that one week couldn't be handled by Pennel but no problem since then.

I think I remember Spags saying in a Presser after the game that he thought they would pass a lot so Spags didn't think we would need Pennel.

Spags said as much in an interview after the game. Iirc it was Monday or Tuesday and not right after the game.

So we don’t have the money for this. Someone is getting cut or Watkins deal

They don't have to send the deal in to the league office right away just because the deal is done. It can just stay in limbo for awhile as veach continues to work with the other guys.

Just now saw this - GREAT NEWS. This guy was a true difference-maker in the playoffs. Probably turned down better deals. He's starting to become one of my favorite Chiefs.

dlphg9 03-25-2020 09:47 AM

He's a lifelong Chiefs fan, gets to be on the same team with the best QB ever, and played a big part in helping bring a SB to his favorite team.

I remember when I was younger and would day dream about this exact thing. Im sure he had these same day dreams and he got to live his childhood dreams. Very very few people ever get to experience that.

If the team showed any interest there was no chance at all that he would go anywhere else.

Apparently after the super bowl he told his agent to do whatever he can to make sure he remains a chief

morphius 03-25-2020 09:52 AM

Good, we really needed to hold onto some of our DL depth. A lot of those guys stepped up this year and played well.

I heard it's a gym membership, a year supply of protein shakes, a big fat ring they're about to slide on his finger, and the potential to get another one.

He gives no ****s and just wants to wear the Arrowhead cape again. :thumb:

Ranked 31st without him on the field. Ranked 7th with him on it. Veach strikes gold again! Dude is gonna go down as one of the best GMs ever and probably will go into the HOF

Thank you Mike! Excited to have you back for the repeat!

True, however in Spags Defense, Henry hadn't been that impressive up until that game that started his crazy run of rushing yards/gm. We were also very shallow in other positions and the inactive decision were probably as tough as they get...

That’s a nice stat with Pennel on the field. I know it wasn’t all him, but he’s definitely a solid contributor and I’m damn glad we got him signed for at least another year. Veach has quietly retained most of our FA talent. If he can get Breeland back and get long term deals done with Jones and Watkins, parlayed with an infusion of our drafted players, I’ll say Veach will have done a stellar job. So far, he’s retained the players, we should have retained. I love his eye for talent.

ILChief 03-25-2020 07:37 PM

Wish it was longer than a one year deal

Simply Red 03-25-2020 07:49 PM
