It time to crush these guys. No mercy.

Wisconsin_Chief 10-05-2020 09:51 AM

I think people are a little too paranoid about this team not taking this game seriously.

This is still the Patriots, and a lot of our guys remember the heartbreak that organization caused us for quite a few years. Also, you know Andy loves to break out his big guns when he's facing Belichick. It's the offensive genius versus the defensive genius and you know he takes that personally.

Not to mention this is now a prime time game being broadcast nationwide, and we're back at Arrowhead in front of (at least a few) fans for the first time in almost a month.

These guys aren't coming out and laying an egg. We'll be fine.

Still owe them payback at Arrowhead for the last matchup in that stadium. There are not enough victories in the universe that can offset the AFC title game loss. But you still gotta try to deliver payback every chance you get.

BlackOp 10-05-2020 09:58 AM

Sony Michel out...no starting QB or RB.

I've never forgotten the Kyle Orton led Chiefs beat Rodgers...and snapped their 19 game winning streak. Has to be the biggest upset in KC history. Chiefs had scored less than 10 points in the previous 6 games leading up to it. Orton came off the bench to start...

Hoyer is no ****ing Orton....

Last time we played Cam Newton we won with Alex Smith at QB.

What the hell can either of those teams fans really say. Mahomes and Reid own this division, to the point of comedy. 12-1 in the Mahomes era. Reigning SB champs. When Dungver and Fader fans try to say anything I just laugh.

That payback should be directed at dumbass Dee Ford. His fault plain and simple.

It's not a bad idea. Maybe if he's 50%, or even 75%, we dress him but don't put him in unless the game stays tight.

I'd be happy seeing how the first half goes and putting him in if we are down or tied.

If you win big, it’s “we were supposed to”.

If you win barely, it’s “we underperformed”.

If you lose, fans and experts react like it’s the apocalypse.

They actually had a legit grievance in that game, too. That Kelce fumble would have gone the other way for 6 and the Harry out of bounds play was a pretty egregious miss as well. I can't remember if Harry scored on that play or not but if so, that was two TDs taken off the board for them from shitty officiating.

That's residual "because Chiefs" bias. If you've been a Chiefs fan for more than a few years, well, we've watched our team go into a game that they should dominate easily and then somehow get spanked "because Chiefs."

I have it to. Still. It's straight reflex after 40 years of "Chiefs" things just happening.

What I have to tell myself some days is that Patrick L. Mahomes II is, as Jim, Rome said after LIV, "the ultimate eraser." He doesn't just erase deficits on the scoreboard, he erases deficits on the team. Even erases coaching deficits. Ultimately, Patrick erases doubt and replaces it with confidence. And then he erases opposing team game-plans. Both offensively and defensively. Both among their players and their coaches. He erases their confidence and replaces it with doubt.

Sp, I'm really not worried about this game, barring injury, because Mahomes is the Great Eraser. He will do what he always does and the Chiefs will play well.

Oh, and Hoyer is starting for NE, so there's that . . .

Correct. The refs helped the Patriots lose that one but honestly I don't think many of us are too bent out of shape about it other than a seeding/record thing. We probably still woulda gotten smoked in the first round, just wasn't our year.

I have the game being competitive in the 1st half maybe even 3 quarters. Something like 17-13 or 20-14 Chiefs and the Chiefs pull away in the fourth. 34-21 kinda score

Absolutely nothing to worry about. This matchup is lopsided, just like the Ravens. There's no reason to worry.

That Kelce fumble may or may not have gone the other way for 6. Reek was right there ready to tackle, if necessary. And if memory serves, that Harry play was argued ad naseum on here. They still had their chances. They were unable to do anything about it. And I also recall Gillmore holding Watkins on a key 3rd down in the first half that was not called.

RINGLEADER 10-05-2020 02:23 PM

The only way the Patriots keep this close is if they run 60 times no matter the outcome. If the Chiefs shut down the run this will be ugly.

Sorry, but that's just not the case. What kept the game close enough for the Pats to have a chance in that game last season was Patrick hurting his hand in the 2nd quarter. Mahomes doesn't hurt his hand, and the game would've been out of reach by the end of the 3rd, maybe sooner.

Here's the thing: before Mahomes hurt his hand, he and Andy had scored 17 points on the vaunted Patriots defense in just the 2nd Q. They had figured out Bill after just one quarter. Then fate intervened and Patrick couldn't throw the ball accurately downfield from that point on. If he'd been healthy, they would've just kept scoring until Andy felt safe about the lead. Probably that would've been to carry a 3 score lead into at least the 8 minutes to go in the 4th mark. Something like that.

Point is, that game was never supposed to be close. Before Mahomes injured his throwing hand, they were on pace to score 40+.

It's going to be ugly regardless. The Chiefs just need to score. Running the ball is just going to shorten the game.

It really doesn't matter if the Chiefs can stop the run, unless the offense struggles. And New England doesn't really have a Patriots defense.

This is pretty much it. We're not winning it if Hoyer has to throw more than 20 times. If KC can't stop the run it's gonna be tough. Too bad now they don't have to respect the QB run too, so it should be pretty easy to bottle up NE and force Hoyer to win

I am obviously hoping we crush them, but I hope the players remember that they needed overtime to beat a rookie QB who didn't even get a single snap with the starters in practice. We cannot overlook any opponent, regardless of the circumstances, and regardless of the personnel on the field.

After giving the Ravens a beatdown, I do not want to get surprised by a Patriots team that is going to rally around the fact that all the circumstances are against them, and they are going to rally around the fact that they have to prove to all the media that gave them no chance to win this game, that they could in fact win the game.

Due to all of the circumstances, this is one of the single biggest trap games I have ever seen, so Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, Fisher, Schwartz, Mathieu, Clark, Jones, etc. need to set the tone for the team early.

If those players come out strong, we will destroy the Patriots, and that douche BB.

I think the Raiders game next week is more of a trap. You have 3 games against big time opponents in the Ravens, Patriots, Bills. And then you have the effing Raiders right in the middle of it.

The Chiefs aren't going to overlook this game. Andy wants to prove that he's on par with Bill, so he's going to pull out all the stops early, and only shut it down when he thinks the game is out of reach.

Because I think a lot of people still think that the Patriots have some kind of blueprint for beating the Chiefs because the overall record is 2-1, in favor of NE. You hear that silly narrative all the time, even now. And how the Patriots even kept it close in their last meeting, as if no one saw that Mahomes hurt his hand in the 2nd quarter and was unable to throw after that. The narrative is that Bill and his defense slowed Patrick down and prevented him from scoring another TD, which is just ridiculous. But that's what most of the talking heads are saying right now.

So I believe that Patrick and the rest of the team are invested in showing the world that the Patriots aren't in the same zip code as the Chiefs in 2020.

The Chiefs might have a let down against the Raiders, but no way they're going to overlook the Patriots. They still have something to prove tonight.

Because I think a lot of people still think that the Patriots have some kind of blueprint for beating the Chiefs because the overall record is 2-1, in favor of NE. You are probably 100% correct, and I am overreacting. If we had easily beat San Diego with Herbert, I would probably not be worried at all. I know the Chargers have a great front 4, and they Patriots really don't, but I just want the entire team, from the special teams players that were a part of giving up a return TD to the Ravens, to our stars on offense and defense, to be focused on winning.

And before someone has a fit, no I don't think the Chiefs will lose to the Raiders. We're still going to beat them. We just might see a little sloppier play, and a little less intensity overall. In fact, I expect that Andy and Spags will spend the entire time between this game and the Bills game prepping for the Bills. The team has plenty of experience playing the Raiders and haven't had any trouble with them since 2017.

Some of you guys need to adjust your thinking. The Chiefs are a juggernaut. Even worse than that, they are a motivated juggernaut with an assassin leading them. There's not trap games or whatever.

They're gonna mow thru the league.

No brainer to sit Jones with that groin now that Newton is out. Pats without their best guard too.

Get him right for the long haul.
