That's basically the problem this season... there wasn't one.

Notre Dame was next in the rankings at 11-1, but their only loss was Cincinnati (and their schedule was awful). Ohio State lost twice. It would have been Oklahoma State, but they lost to Baylor in the B12 Championship game (and both have bad losses).

I personally dislike the David vs Goliath matches, because I can't even think of any upsets after OU/Boise State back in the day and Utah/Alabama several years ago.... I'd much rather watch the heavyweights, even if that's only a few teams every year.

But... no one else earned the right to be beaten by Alabama this season.
