As such, we're in with the local Cobra car club and i've heard enough of their stories to know these things are death traps lol.

Yeah, the other Super Snake, the CSX 3033. Sold to Bill Cosby, it scared the hell out of him so he sold it to a collector who promptly lost control of it and drove it off a cliff into the Pacific.

But hey, it was Carol Shelby's daily driver for many years. If Shelby can drive it, so can I.

My neighbor that had all the Boss 9 Mustangs sold most of them and bought him a GT40. His is black with silver stripes. Man it sounds good when he lights it up

It's a Ford right?

Yeah.

Henry Ford Jr. had it purpose built to win LeMans after Enzo Ferrari scuttled a deal for Ford to buy Ferrari's racing division. Ford was so pissed off that he essentially spared no expense to try to build a LeMans car in about 18 months.

After a couple of stumbles, the 2nd (maybe 3rd) iteration of it just dominated everything. Won pretty much every race they entered it in.

All because a rich guy got his feelings hurt.

Is it an actual GT40 or a Ford GT?

The new version is just the Ford GT. A legit GT40 (named for its height, IIRC) is damn near a unicorn.

What could possibly the most fun vehicle in history to drive:

The 1975 Lancia Stratos:

An absolute legend of a rally car. Had that little Ferraro Dino V-6 in it that revved to the heavens and just tore the hell out of any surface you put it on.

Ford vs. Ferrari, good flick. I'm not sure how accurate it reflected the actual story though.

In 1979 I had saved up enough money to buy a 1970 Ford Torino Super Cobra with the 429. We lived on a Army base and there was a young Captain that had just been ordered to Korea and had it up for sale for $3500. I was 15 at the time and my parents shot me down. Said I would most likely kill myself in it.
This isn't the actual car but it looked just like it. Small potatoes in the car world but I wouldn't mind having a nice restored or resto 70 Torino.

Pretty much.
Quote:

The Lightning Rods system was set up to work like any ordinary automatic gear selector, more or less, with a conventional PRND shift pattern. The difference was in the two additional levers: the far right lever and release button performed the 1-2 upshift, while the middle lever and button performed the 2-3 upshift. Or the driver could simply leave the lever in D for Drive or OD for Overdrive and drive normally.

I came here expecting pictures of Olivia Munn. And I got CARS! Man.

That GTO is tight, though.

Can vouch for this. Had a red '68 with a 327. Totaled it on the way to school one morning during a snow storm.

Lots of good submissions. Definitely not a mopar guy but I’ve always been a sucker for the vipers.

Modern, I'll go with the McLaren Speedtail. All 250mph of it.

Just saw a yellow one sell for $3 million at the most recent Mecum Auto auction in Kissimmee a week or so ago.

Let’s be real here. I’m probably not going race car. I’m probably looking to improve my life.

Like I’ll ever know but the Rols Royce Ghost is supposed to be the best driving experience.

Not sure yet. I haven't started organizing yet.

As a quick update on this, I'm getting the tournament organized. It just takes a bit since I'm downloading each link, so I'm doing it a few at a time.

The original Blue Viper w/ the white stripes was a dream car of mine for a looooong time.

I've thought about selling the Camaro to get my hands on one, but I think I'd get thrown off ChiefsPlanet for something like that.

To me, this is the definitive modern American muscle car:

No frills, no fancy suspension, no driver aids. Just a big ass engine on a sexy chassis.

In the words of the great Martin Lawrence:

"Just a shiny dick with 2 chairs in it. And we're the balls, just draggin' the **** along..."

Yup - that pretty much covers it.
