I'm just not sure he's much different than last season. Ive argued and will probably always argue that there's never really been anything wrong with his ability to get open.

It's finishing the catch or extending the route to the open areas in scramble drills that ive always worried about with him.

I've noticed this too. Running out of bounds in a 2-minute drive during the playoffs and he doesn't fight for yards just goes out of bounds and I'm like um hey those extra two yards you didn't fight for would actually be super helpful. It wasn't a "time running out" issue either.

RealSNR 08-02-2022 10:51 AM

I'm not ringing any alarm bells, but I'm really hoping Moore isn't one of those constantly nicked up players. He had the hamstring thing and now this.

I get that it's training camp and this shit happens. He missed zero games due to injury in college, so there's no history of this being a thing.

Just... yeah. Take it easy, Skyy.

staylor26 08-02-2022 10:54 AM

Did you see the play? Has nothing to do with Skyy. It was just an unfortunate tangle up.

Kiimo 08-02-2022 11:02 AM

Hips scare me.

I think I'm still having Bo Jackson PTSD

"Tangle up" wasn't the right words. I meant the timing of the contact when he was planting his feet was unfortunate.

^this^ that is standard shed technique. Defense holding on linemen is only called if they are holding someone to give another teammate an advantage on a blitz/twist, or if they are holding a back on a screen play.

Looks like he took a knee to the hip, probably a bruise to contend with, nothing serious... Cross my fingers.

They said he went up the hill on his own power (no cart), so I'm not too concerned. Might be out a day or 2, maybe not at all.

Since we're talking about Tershawn Wharton, that was the guy I kept bringing up early in the summer when people said we have no pass rush. That guy could be a monster if he keeps improving

Yea, but he's an obvious one given that it's a contract year and he's already a good starter.

I was thinking more about guys you don't expect it from.

Yes, the Chiefs, like most teams, value STs when they're filling those last spots.

Also, I'm sure they feel he's better than "okay" at STs if they're keeping him for that. It means Toub really values him.

That was a NASTY spin move, holy moly

Is it just me, or is there an unusual amount of good news and vibes coming out of this camp?

Wharton looks to have taken a step forward
All the new receivers are consistently making plays
Pacheco is standing out
Clark has a new attitude and body
Karlaftis is already looking legit
All of the new secondary guys are showing out
OBJ came back early and very visibly slimmed down
Fortsons rehab appears to have been a smashing success

And I'm surely missing something else, daaamn man we're looking good early

Please point to the better talent we have competing for the WR 5 and 6 slots.

Josh Gordon is done. I honestly believe Fountain and Watson would produce more than him if they were thrust into significant snaps on offense during a game. And that's outside of Fountain and Watson's special teams abilities.

You can't tell shit from these practices for the most part. Trey Smith is a guy that goes balls to the wall in games, but he can't really do that in practice, because he'd kill a guy. He's gotta scale back and when that happens going against someone with NFL talent, you'll get wrecked.

BigCatDaddy 08-02-2022 02:15 PM

Would be a win-win for everyone. We give him the deal he wants and we get a franchise LT for Pat for the next 5-6 years.

Go get that money, kid.

We want him to be elite. I’d feel a lot more comfortable for our future if we had an elite LT protecting the blind side of our football savior.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear Reid is just letting him hang around to collect some checks because dude was broke AF... but even Andys heart surely has its limits, dude will be in the first wave of cuts

Josh Gordon is done. I honestly believe Fountain and Watson would produce more than him if they were thrust into significant snaps on offense during a game. And that's outside of Fountain and Watson's special teams abilities.

Agreed. He’s on the chop block. Whoever is that last WR needs to play special teams. Watson and Fountain take the last 2 spots.

Maybe we can add Gordon to trade when Veach sends OBJ out for a 1st rounder!

Yep.

Elijah Lee is definitely making this team, he has been running with the first unit alot from my understanding and it appears they really like him.

+ the linebackers are flying around making plays too.

Thoughts from training camp today...

Why don't the Chiefs start practice like an hour/hour and a half earlier when the temperature is pleasant and cool. It gets rather hot as practice goes on I can't imagine running around suited up like that.

Mahomes lined up as a receiver on one play, none of the defense bit on that and just let him run down the sideline. :)

Leo looks like a stud out there I'll tell you that much.

Josh Gordon, just cut him now, please.

MVS didn't have a good outing, a couple dropped passes. You could tell he wasn't pleased with himself.

Byron Cook looked smaller then I thought he would be.

Joshua Williams looks tall and lean for a CB, he's a hard worker. I'm rooting for him.

Orlando Brown just stretched out I didn't see him practice with the others.
Not a concern with me he just came back the other day you see.

CEH and McKinnon did fine.

Isiah Pacheco I'm real excited about he brings energy, lets play him Andy.

Cornell Powell had a couple catches maybe he will make the team.

Kinnard looks pretty big out there on the field.

frank Clark was talking some to Karlaftis for what that's worth. Maybe Frank told him not to pick up any of my bad habits.

Kelce looked great.

Noah Grey had a couple good catches.

Spags was talking a lot with Justin Reid teaching him stuff.

Oh no doubt we haven't had a LB corp like this since forever, and throw in Dunlap too... knew I was missing something

The games early in the season are going to be hot as hell, got to get them conditioned for it

Gray, 18th pick in the 5th round. Good Special Teams player not a loss

It could feel like 105 in Tampa this year.

Maybe It's just me but Trey Smith looks like he's lost some weight. Looks like he's around 295-310lbs compared to the 325-330 lbs he was last year.

He does look thinner, he also seems to be on the losing end of a lot of these tweets.

Last year he seemingly never lost a rep.

KCUnited 08-02-2022 04:56 PM

Smith seemed to get by a lot last season utilizing his howitzer right punch to get into his base, maybe its possible Chiefs defenders are countering that or maybe its just a handful of camp tweets that aren't indicative of anything.

Exactly.

raybec 4 08-02-2022 05:08 PM

I'm sure Smith will be just fine. They didn't show us all the reps he won and his level of play from the previous season doesn't really make me think that he was a guy who was just getting by. He's bound to lose some reps and honestly, he may be working on a specific technique or fundamental issue that we are unaware of.

staylor26 08-02-2022 05:14 PM

He's mostly been beat by Chris Jones, who is going to give every IOL in the league fits in 1 on 1s.

Ultimately most of these tweets don't tell us a whole lot. But we can only discuss what's presented.

I'm not worried about him at all.

Just notating the difference between this year and last.

If we would just run stretch lefts our offensive line is good enough for cutback blocks and running in space.

And then come back and Rambo combo them on the right with creed and smith

BleedingRed 08-02-2022 05:15 PM

Two simple running plays that will work with this offensive line more times than not. Just keep your runs disguised and consistent using those two beautiful land with all pros playing each pos

I'm hoping that this is a good sign for Wharton too. If he can provide some interior pass rush next to Jones that will make the DL far more dangerous.

For sure and he does look slimmer.

I was mostly commenting on that second Wharton move where he beats him inside to his left hand which seems like an adjustment to Trey's strength which is his right punch.

Abba-Dabba 08-02-2022 05:26 PM

Bad bad idea to try to evaluate any OL on a few TC snaps. You have no idea what they may be working on or trying out.
