Trav says he thinks the best fast food burger is Burger King, but he also notes that he orders no mayo, no onion. Seems a little strange. I suppose you still get the grilled flavor that sets Burger King apart from the others who go with the flat top, but.. Idk.

Them BK onions do be strong af. I don't eat there often but that shit stays on your breath for a day after you eat it.

He's lucky he's so good. Or else I'd want him cut for not only liking Burger King but going even further to say they're the best fast food burger.

As soon as Trav said BK and "no mayo, no onion" Jason's like "I'm not sure your opinion even matters anymore" or something to that effect lol

Trav also said Five Guys is better than In N Out, which I'm sure ruffled a few feathers (though I agree).

Sonic.

The answer is Sonic.

Especially using their definition (since most other contenders would be in the fast casual category).

Haven’t had a Sonic burger in years, they were pretty good, I used to add chili and jalapeños sometimes.

If you ask 'em to fry the jalapenos into the meat they'll do it. With some grilled onions and onion rings to boot - gooooood stuff.

Burger Kings near me are just not jumpin' these days.

Like Arby's, I truly wonder who is still keeping those franchises in business.

I once went to Burger King and was told "we are out of Whopper meat"

Not ground beef, mind you. They had OTHER burgers to serve. They were out of "whopper meat".

I don't go to Burger King anymore.

ThaVirus 11-10-2022 03:40 PM

Tbh, a lot of the most popular fast food chains should probably die out soon.

With price inflation, they're not even all that cheap anymore. Go to Wendy's, McDonald's, etc. and order a meal, you're walking away spending $10-13. Might as well splurge and go to Five Guys or something. You can get more food that tastes better and is slightly better for you for $15.

And the appeal of most fast food, being open for late night post-bar/club runs isn't even a thing anymore with staffing issues. Most of these places are closing early or just don't have the staff to be able to get your order out to you quickly enough to make the stop worth it.

You've gotta have their apps to make most fast food joints worthwhile.

For instance, McDonalds app always has a $1 large fry. And a buy one, get one for $1 spicy McChicken.

So $1 for my fry, $2.50 for 2 spicy McChickens, $1 coke - $4.50 plus tax for a fast food lunch's tolerable.

Or you do the buy one get one free w/ the Big Mac, Quarter pounder and/or 10 piece nugget and just have a couple of those for $6 and end up shitting your brains out.

All the fast food joints have apps now that can usually knock about 1/3 off the price of a single meal.

ToxSocks 11-10-2022 03:44 PM

Burger King use to be awesome. They suck ass now.

Nothing redeemable about it. Clearly, Kelce does not eat out much.

And DJ is over here trollin' with that Sonic shit. Quit trollin' DJ, you funny guy, you.

What's a better fast food burger?

Not 5 Guy, mind you - or steak shack. None of that fancy fast casual shit. A straight up fast food joint.

I'm pretty sure Steak and Shake has drive throughs and they have better crusts but you need a triple cheeseburger to get enough meat to be worthwhile. Jack in the Box will give you a disease before you even ingest it; filthy ass places. I can't speak to Rally's or Checkers since I've tried to go 5 or 6 times and been car-jacked each time.

I mean Sonic blow the doors off your standard Wendy's or McDonalds fare. And ultimately they're at worst right alongside Whataburger (I'm sorry, Pat).

There are literally dozens of places to get better burgers - but straight up fast food joints? I dunno, man - I'm drawing a blank here.

DJ's left nut 11-10-2022 04:00 PM

I'll allow an entry based on personal preference here - Hardees.

Sonic is admittedly a thinner diner style burger; gotta prefer that type if that's your choice and if so, again, Super Sonic Double Bacon Cheeseburger is ****ing aces.

But if you don't like thinner burgers, Hardees has a solid set of options. Otherwise, I'm just not seeing a better option out there.

ThaVirus 11-10-2022 04:01 PM

Lol at your assessment of Jack in the Box. I'm an East Coaster so my only experiences with JntB was on a short trip to SoCal/Vegas and those places were always ****ing disgusting. Homeless havens.

And their menus were just too damned much. I feel like they had burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos. You're a fast food joint, you can have two out of those three but not all of them. Ya gotta pick one and roll with that.

Pepe Silvia 11-10-2022 04:01 PM

My absolute fav fast food burger was the Hardee’s Monster Burger, right before they went to that thick burger crap. It was awesome.

I've got the Wendy's and McD's apps. You are correct, that's the only thing that makes it worthwhile.

Wendy's often has this special in the app for $2 off a combo meal. I'll get the #1 (triple) and after coupon it's still like $10-11. Every time I'm just like "****, man, I could have just gone to Five Guys for those prices".

ThaVirus 11-10-2022 04:03 PM

This is sort of funny because I had a Culver's burger the other day that was actually pretty damned good. I'm not a fan of crinkle cut fries but theirs could have been worse.

And ya can't sleep on Dairy Queen. That Grill n Chill will surprise you every time!

Everything Sonic makes tastes like they added sugar to it. It's awful.

I'd take pretty much everything before Sonic. Sonic is good for sugary ice drinks on a hot day. That's about it.

Sonic is just the last place i'd go for an actual food item.

I like Culver's too. Braum's makes a great bacon cheeseburger, and they tend to be a little cheaper, too.

Culver's burgers are by far the best of the real fast food burgers (if you're not counting the places like Five Guys).

Culver's and it's not even close. Culver's is much more similar to Five Guys or stuff like that while being more like Wendy's and McDonald's in terms of prices and stuff. They're based out of Wisconsin though so you might not have many of them near you. They're everywhere here in farming country.

On a strictly burger basis, that's fair - it's a strong burger.

It is by far the best burger place in the United States. (as far as fast food goes)

Now, one that is a little less "Fast Food" witch is S-Tier is "Freddies"

Real bitch of things in rural America man - meth has changed things so much in small towns in just the last decade or so.

Damn shame. We used to run around with the locals at the ranch when I was in high school - great time. Drink, fight, drive too fast, hit on local chicks and see what happens.

Yeah, I don't really know the extent to which meth is prevalent, but it sure seemed like that Sonic was chalk full of meth heads. And perspective is a hell of a thing. From my perspective as a kid, I knew of a little booze around, but I didn't know of anything else, so therefore it doesn't exist, right? Well, having been around awhile, I hear people talk about so and so fried their shit, well simple math tells me that happened while I was a kid, probably playing with their kids.

It's a problem, and unfortunately for us, the county attorney is a lump and won't prosecute (at least that's the story I get from secondary sources that I believe, but am open to being wrong about).

My kids are young enough that I have some time yet, but I have some really hard conversations coming up, because I have extraordinarily limited exposure to any of it, so I can't grasp the situations/thought processes where it will come up.

I honestly don't know what high school kids do these days. I had similar experiences in high school, less the fighting... we all went to school Monday, no need for fighting. But my nephew who is 22 (and we know how long 4 years is to high school kids) now did way different shit in high school. They did some boozing, but they seemed to only want to embrace doing hillbilly shit. Maybe it's the kid, maybe it's the time, who knows.

Whatever, it's late, I'm rambling. Sonic sucks because they couldn't hire management to implement proper controls to operate the store in my town....:cuss:

Meth has been prevalent here since the early 90's. It's everywhere. If you're ordering fast food, there's a better than good chance a meth head is preparing it.

That being said, our opioid problem is even WORSE.

Meth blew thru my town I grew up in. It's still around, but opoids have taken over sadly.

Today's episode was great. But, a weird thing happened in it. Travis was giving Jason some shit about making excuses for ****ing up during the last Eagles game, and Jason basically just left the mic. When it comes back, it's the next day and Jason says he had to take a break because he was so pissed off. He then goes on to explain that they both want the show to be authentic, and if there are emotions they show them. So...I don't think it was a fake stunt. It was kinda weird, but also kinda cool.

These two are fun as hell to listen to, for sure.

Thank you for updating. That was a great one. They are both so good together.

I was talking to my gf the other day about podcasts we listen to and I said, New Heights is the only one that if I see a new episode jumps to the front of the que automatically.

Agreed. Kinda think the Kelce's blew their load early though with Hurts and Mahomes back to back like that. Those are both big interviews to get candid like that. If they had baited them we'd be ****ing DYING to get them. They could edged us with AJ Brown and Chris Jones etc.

But yeah i've been looking forward to this one since episode 1.

I don't know if they'll ever pull it off, but man - Big Red with those two would be amazing.

Maybe a line better not crossed...

I mean, considering what you thought of Mahomes prior to the 2017 draft...

These days I have to imagine it's a staffing issue.

If you open the dining room, that's one or two more people needed to attend to the dining room cash register and cleaning/tidying up the tables/bathroom.

Buehler445 12-01-2022 07:47 AM

I'm listening on my phone, but I'm going to have to watch it on YouTube when they post it. It's really freaking good.

Matt Nagy, you glorious bastard...

Matt Nagy is my favorite coach now.

DJ's left nut 12-01-2022 08:59 AM

And we always wondered where/how the Chiefs got their intel on Mahomes draft status - weeelllllll now we know...

O.city 12-01-2022 09:05 AM

So.....is that like some kind of collusion?

-King- 12-01-2022 09:06 AM

Haven't listened, any cliff notes on what Nagy did?

The vaunted 'pre-draft meeting' where Reid noted that Mahomes destroyed the plays/reads that he was supposed to diagram almost like he knew they were coming?

He did.

Because Nagy gave him the plays the night before because he wanted to draft him.

So Mahomes spent the night before the interview memorizing all the plays. He had the answers to the test before he took it...

I wouldn't think so.

Its an internal process - the Chiefs could conduct that interview however they wanted. I mean Reid may go to Nagy and say "hey - you got lucky, don't ever do that shit again"...

But it's no sort of league issue. The Chiefs could've had him show up and bake a cake if they wanted to.

Now as to Mahomes leaking what he was told? Again, I don't think that's collusion, but there are gonna be some teams that aren't real happy with his agent...

And hell, think of how many times teams have told players "if you're there, we're gonna take you" and then didn't do it. I don't know that any of this stuff is off limits. Smoke screens are known entities - these teams leak DISINFORMATION to combat precisely this sort of thing.

I mean more on him and his agent giving KC a heads up on it.
