High School Simply Red was a 4.4 guy who led the tennis team in sprints (every damn practice.)

Do people really think Justyn Ross is ever gonna have any impact on this team? |

You DID see the 5 yard slant he caught in practice, right? Come on. |

If he gets on the field, he's talented enough to eventually be a heck of a play-maker. It's all upside really. |

And with the offense rolling as well as it is right now, it feels like a good gamble. |
Every time i watch this dude run routes i get giddy thinking about how Andy will get him into space. Im over here laughing to myself and shaking my head. Wife looking at me like i lost my damn mind....

Toney is a first round pick from an elite program who did it against top competition, etc. His game is his game, he’s had some injuries, but it isn’t like he was a UDFA from the MAC who flashed in a preseason game |

I think it would probably be the highest output by a rookie...and the most yards in 32 years without Mahomes at QB. He did this with Daniel Jones... He's no chump...Skye Moore puts up almost 200...people would lose their shit. |

89 was available, hopefully he wears it tomorrow night. |

Could Toney become just as good as Tyreek?
"When Toney was coming out of Florida, Tyreek Hill was a natural draft comparison because of Toney's dynamic slot playmaking in the open field combined with speedy field-stretching ability. Toney (6-0, 193 pounds) is a little taller than Hill (5-10, 191) but his 4.39 40-yard dash says he also can be fast enough for Kansas City." Tyreek was a 5th round pick, Toney was pick #20. Both are known for speed, but Toney is also really illusive. Both played RB, WR, Gadget, Returner, but Toney can also throw the ball. K Toney's Draft Profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/...ney-WR-Florida |
4.39 is on the tier of "lol" when compared to Tyreek's speed c'mon
|
Quote:
Toney has a different skill set than Tyreek's game breaking speed, he's shifty instead, but it's interesting that Hill wasn't expected to be much coming in to the league and Chiefs were able to build him up. Hoping Toney has the same work ethic and if so, just might have some of that Tyreek career trajectory. |
Quote:
Toney came into the league as the more complete WR. Of course, Hill has the acceleration/speed advantage, and had the best offensive/receiving coaches at his disposal in KC and has become one of the best overall WRs in the NFL. Hoping Toney can reap similar benefits. |
Can’t wait to see him in this offense. Giants’ fans gonna go ape shit when this guy destroys for the Chiefs.

Nice I already like him
|
So he's going to be full-time offense? They got him involved early and he didn't take any returns. If so, I really like the chance of him being a contributor as we get later in the season and in the post season.

I think it's neat that he got a few touches in his first game!

Toney appears to be a hands catcher, and by all accounts has excellent spacial awareness. So yeah, there's reason to be excited. |
I wish someone would put together a blocking highlight reel. Because there were several big plays yesterday where he was feisty as hell. Absolutely love it.

Dialed up the first play out of the gate for him. How come they didn't do this for Moore? Just because Toney is a vet?
|
He’s such a unique package of skills. To have those elusive qualities but also be strong enough and big enough to power through tackles for extra yards, while also being a hands catcher who tracks the ball well AND who has legit 4.4 speed, it’s just a great package.
I’m not sure you could go into a lab and make a better WR for this offense. I guess you could pump his speed up another tick, but he’s plenty fast. He also seems to have really great instincts and feel for the game, to boot. I’m excited. |

Yeah Toney is a first round talent, Moore not quite. But Moore can come good. He's gonna need a bit more time and confidence. I mean, who knows what we get down the stretch, maybe Toney becomes a legit WR1 and takes a whole load of attention away from Moore who gets to beat up on CB3s. I'm weirdly positive about them both.
|
And we barely got Toney involved

He was only in for the opening script and a couple snaps after that.

Edit: I thought that was 98, it's 48, my mistake. |

But with Toney and Moore in the fold for '23, I feel pretty good. |
We need to run this guy deep at least 2-3 times a game.

They got him installed immediately into the game script and they never had him return kicks.
Now i understand why he chuckled when the reporter asked him if he liked returning punts. He already knew what they brought him in for... |
Lol at anyone that thought Veach spent a 3rd and a 6th round pick to get a punt returner . . .
Toney had himself a very enticing game. Can't wait to see how he progresses over the next 4-6 weeks. |

Everyone gets frustrated for Reid not playing rookie WRs, but I suspect this is why. Rookies just don't pick it up that fast. Even Tyreek didn't play much at WR until the end of the year. |

Reid says he was on a snap count but loved his blocking

God, I hope Toney keeps getting more snaps this season. But Hardman is balling right now. Making a real case to keep him next season. |
Quote:
I like Mecole and he's been playing well but he's still not probably worth what he can get on the open market. Somebody will overpay for the speed. |
I liked what little I saw from him. Be curious to see where he is a month from now and at playoff time.

Quote:

Hardman and Toney aren't the same kind of player. No, Toney is not a replacement for Hardman.
These guys couldn't be more different in skill sets. If you can keep Hardman on a cheap contract you do it. No idea what his market will be like. |

Is Pringle even in the league anymore? |
Quote:
Hardman had the only receiving TD, and he's been making tough catches in big moments in crowds all season. Can't deny any of that, or that we lose this game without his contributions. He's been as integral a part of the offense as anyone this season, making drive-saving catches or runs that have led to scores and ultimately Ws. Prove me wrong, buddy.:) |
Quote:
I don't think anyone overpaid Conley or Robinson. But i could see some team going all Christian Kirk on Hardman. I could also see teams realizing what he really is and thus have a real soft market, allowing the Chiefs to retain him. |
