I like what Trevor Lawrence has done this season. He's got a good coach and his offensive line has been built up pretty decently. He's not a sitting duck anymore with a coach asleep at the wheel.

I'm just not crazy about their receiving options. Marvin Jones and Zay Jones are fine, they're fine, but I don't think they can break you even on their best days. Christian Kirk is the kind of WR that has given us problems all season, but I wonder if McDuffie is a solution to that.

I think the biggest thing here is Travis Etienne. If he explodes, this game suddenly gets insanely competitive. But he's a finesse RB, and I think this team is built better for finesse run games than aggressive pounding rungames. Our linebackers (aside from Chenal, who honestly the Chiefs should bench for Harris) are pretty good at gap filling. Thornhill and Sneed in run support on the edges, I like our chances there.

The biggest solution to Etienne, though, is just Mahomes getting up early. If the Chiefs get up early and Lawrence has to win the game for the Jaguars, it's going to be a boatrace blowout for the Chiefs.

The Jags' defense is good against the run, but I actually think we can gash them on the ground. I like their DL, but I do think that if the Chiefs just decide to run Pacheco down Devon Hamilton's throat, I don't think they can stop us.

Obviously, so long as Mahomes stays clean against a decent passrush, he can pass anywhere he wants. But I think this is a game where Pacheco surprises everyone with a 16-carry, 100-yard game.

TL;DR: I think the Jaguars can challenge our defense, but Spags and crew should be up for the challenge. And I think Pacheco surprises everyone with a mean run game, and Mahomes plays a competent, quiet 250-yard passing game on like 21-of-27 passing or something like that.

What in the world makes you think we are suddenly going to run the ball at 5+ yards a carry? Nothing in our recent history has shown that to be a possibility. I would love it if you were correct, but it just seems like that prediction came directly from your anus.

Aside from a few games, the Chiefs' rushing averages have been fine.

And Tennessee's run defense is the best in the league.

Didn't realize that Uncle Bob was their DC. That makes things more interesting.

I believe that the last time Mahomes faced Bob's defense Pat struggled a bit. Not that surprising, all things considered.

I think it should be noted that KC probably would've won the TEN game by two scores if not for the multiple errors the offense made in the first half. I mean, yeah the Titans defense played at a very high level and blunted the Chiefs' efficiency, but KC also shot themselves in the feet multiple times in the first half with penalties and just missed opportunities. In short, KC played a sloppier game offensively than they usually do.

I don't know if the JAX defense can replicate the level of discipline and physicality of TEN. But I also don't think KC makes the same number of self-inflicted mistakes two weeks in a row.

Guess I'll have to actually watch some JAX film to see what the stats aren't revealing.

Butker's missed FG alone cost them a win in regulation, never mind other mistakes by the team. At least he didn't choke on the FG attempt in overtime.

In terms of Bob Sutton, the game you are remembering was in 2020 against the Atlanta Falcons at Arrowhead. KC was heavily favored before that game. Falcons were having a bad season, as usual for them lately. The game was ugly as hell. Falcons had a very good chance to win. They had a 14-10 lead with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

That was probably my fault. I watch almost All games from home. That week I was in Mexico. Same as the regular season Bengals game last year. I’ll be there during the final Chiefs/Dungver game this year. But I feel like we win that one handily.

Lawrence is a better QB at this point than Willis and the Tenn receivers are bad. Henry was their biggest threat by far and their OC inexplicably took Henry out in key situations. Not sure you can compare the two.

Not a prime time game, no reason for the NFL to keep this one close. Chiefs roll!!

Mosbonian 11-09-2022 08:28 AM

Smoot is the DL guy I would watch...he can be a disruption at times. Walker is still a rookie and can make rookie gaffes at times. But don't mistake this Jags team for a defensive stalwart like the Titans.

On offense stopping Etienne will be key but Bolton and Gay could be the key here. Some of you give Kirk more credit than you should....and their TE's are average at best. Their O Line is good but can whiff at times and Lawrence can be erratic at time...overthrown passes, not reading past first read....locking in on initial receiver....but he can and will run.

Jags as a Franchise wins 183

Andy Reid career wins 239

ThyKingdomCome15 11-10-2022 04:08 AM

They nearly made it to the Super Bowl four years ago. They've lost a ton of talent on that defense. Most notably Ramsey. Their offense was never great.

RaidersOftheCellar 11-10-2022 07:55 AM

I don’t care about recent results…I’m going to keep predicting comfortable wins vs the AFC South.

Lawrence is in for a struggle and Mahomes will do what Mahomes does. 31-16.

I feel a bit better about this game, looking back at the schedule.

The Chiefs only scored 17 against the Colts. They followed it up by blowing out the Bucs.

They only scored 20 against the Bills and followed it up by blowing out the 49ers.

They scored 20 against the Titans. :hmmm:

their secondary isn't very good, especially in man. Consequently, they play a lot of zone.:D

Smoots and Allen defensively.

Their best offensive player is ETN. He's kind of like Josh Jacobs.

Trevor can run. Like Josh Allen (BUF). Another big, fast running QB. We're going to play more contain probably.

NFL top defensive line rankings at mid season
1. 49ers
2. Bills
3 Titans
4. Chargers
6. Jaguars

The Chiefs have faced the 4 best offensive lines in their first 8 games. The Jags are number 6. After week 10, they will have played 6 out of 10 games against top 6 defensive lines. It's amazing that they have the number one offense yards and scoring against that schedule. And, not surprising, they have struggled to run the ball.

I hadn't thought about the Jacobs comparison. Etienne is more of a speed threat and not as physical/good at breaking tackles, to me.

He's a real threat, though.

Lawrence seems to struggle when he has to go off-script. He has turned it over in the red zone a lot. That seems like a bad matchup against a Steve Spagnuolo defense...

Not sure what's wrong with Mecole - it says he has a abdominal injury but not specially if it's a muscle strain or what.

Saunders was excused for non-football related personal reasons. I would imagine he'll be good to go provided those reasons don't linger and result in him missing more practice.

Yeah, when I used Jacobs as an example, I was mostly talking about his physical stature as a bigger back (he's not small, but he's not Derrick Henry either), he has good speed, but not a burner, and he can break some tackles. He can catch out of the backfield, but he's not CMC.

Except Etienne can be slowed down and contained with a pretty solid hit at the first of the game. If that happens then you get him looking around instead of just hitting the hole.

Lawrence has a tendency to get in his own head. If he misses receivers at the beginning of the game he tends to stay wild.

His running is good but Gay and Bolton could counter that issue.

The only real chance JAX has is if KC just shits the bed for most of the game. They can't go toe-to-toe with the Chiefs if KC is playing to their average. They have to hope the Chiefs play a terrible game from beginning to end. I don't see that happening, but of course, AGS.

Well, it's not like we were going to even try to run the ball anyway.

And if they're a zone team ( I really haven't paid much attention to JAX to be honest, I have little idea what's going on over there) that should be a good Juju situation.

Pretty much every NFL team is competitive this year.

Some notes:

As expected, wide receiver Mecole Hardman (abdomen) did not practice on Wednesday (more on that here). After taking an excused personal day on Wednesday, defensive tackle Khalen Saunders was a full participant on Thursday.

One new thing to monitor: cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (knee) was downgraded to limited after his full practice on Wednesday. Even if he remains limited in Friday’s practice, he might still play on Sunday — but if so, he would probably be listed as questionable for the game. We’ll see what Friday brings.

As a reminder: Though offensive lineman Lucas Niang (knee) returned to practice last week, he does not appear on the injury report. He remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list (more on that here).

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He was upgraded to being a limited participant in Thursday’s practice. That’s a clear step toward being ready to play in Kansas City — but we’ll see what happens on Friday. Tight end Evan Engram (back) was again limited on Thursday.

Can you post the embedded links? I'd love to read more about what happened to Hardman.

isn't warm weather teams going north and getting that ass beat in November a thing?

And Mahomes with a 23 game winning streak in November/December

Gonna be a close game I think. The Chiefs are like 0-5 ATS at home this year.

htismaqe 11-11-2022 01:06 PM

Found it.

Betting nugget: Kansas City is 0-4 ATS at home this season. Mahomes is 15-19 ATS in his career at home, including 3-8 ATS in his past 11 home games.

Yeah, i think this one stays tight and the Chiefs pull away in the 4th. This game could be more uncomfortable than some realize.

I think the Jags keep it close. Probably hold the Chiefs under 70.

Something like 69-0.

Sucking and being pussies is apparently not a good combination.

If RoJo finally gets a shot I hope he makes it so there's no way they can deactivate him again. The guy is far and away the best pure runner on this team (as sad as that is) and we are desperately in need of that kind of juice right now. At least give him a chance and see if he's worth keeping on the roster or not.

You're probably right by I think that particular streak is going to change eventually.
