Yes I mentioned in the post you originally quoted that Allen’s first 2 years drag down any comparison. Then I showed what it looked like in the past 3 seasons. I was very transparent.

The person I originally quoted made the same point (that Allen’s early years will not be an accurate reflection of his play today).

Go away, daquix

Phillip Rivers was so freaking funny to have around. LMAO

He is WAY more funny than Josh Allen. There’s nothing funny about Josh Allen. He’s just… lame…

PAChiefsGuy 11-16-2022 04:14 AM

Josh Allen is not Philip Rivers 2.0. I don't think it's even that close.

Allen can do a lot of things River's can't. If you can't tell the difference between the two, then you are a biased idiot.

Allen will bounce back. He is too good not to.

Rainbarrel 11-16-2022 06:21 AM

Good for Josh is not the career norm

Yeah, Steve Young won 3 SBs. And a huge pile of other NFL awards/achievements, including twice named NFL MVP.

Josh Allen has a very long way to go to be on the same level as Steve Young.

Steve Young is criminally underrated.

I'm confused as to why the qb ratings and qbr is so much lower for all of them with their first season removed.

You were correct - I had the math on that still dividing by 5 years instead of the updated 4. I edited original post on the 4 year. Numbers are corrected as follows:

First Down %/Avg Rating/Avg QBR/Sacks/Sack Yds - per Game Average
Rivers: 40.20% / 98.53 Rating / 65.45 QBR / 1.72 sacks / 11.06 sk yds
Allen: 37.92% / 95.33 Rating / 65.25 QBR / 1.86 sacks / 11.26 sk yds
Mahomes: 42.22% / 104.53 Rating / 74.15 QBR / 1.51 sacks / 9.65 sk yds

I don’t think it’s fair to pin it all on Allen, I think that whole franchise is wilting under pressure. Whether it’s the decision to bring Allen back prematurely, the OC throwing a hissy fit as time expired, the Bills are pressing themselves into making bad decisions. They should’ve sat Allen, conceded the L to Minnesota and focused on winning divisional games.

You could make the argument they have the same temperament went things aren’t going well.

KCUnited 11-16-2022 05:53 PM

Allen is just like 3x MVP Brett Favre

LMAO

KCUnited 11-16-2022 05:58 PM

Less marketable Romo?

Yeah, but since it's superbowl or bust for them and they realize that we didn't take a step back like everyone thought we would and their own division is a lot tougher than they hoped it would be, they HAVE to take chances. Unfortunately for them it's not only costing them a chance for HF throughout, but they will probably have to play any playoff games on the road

And that's exactly what drew me to the comparison.

Josh Allen is Brian Daboll's Mark Castle do over. He got out'a town before the gorilla taped on hat came off

Stryker 11-16-2022 07:38 PM

OMG! This is EXACTLY what he is! LMAOLMAOLMAO

That’s stupid though, if you’re going to put yourself in future cap hell to get over the hump, you should have faith that the talent you acquired is good enough to win tough games on the road in the postseason. Makes me so happy our Chiefs have awesome leadership in Pat and Andy Reid to not panic when things go a bit haywire during the course of the season.

TribalElder 11-16-2022 10:41 PM

I think as the season goes on and games get tougher the absence of Daboll is really gonna start to show itself

Rasputin 11-17-2022 12:26 AM

Herbert is Philip Rivers without all the rug-rats

Allen becomes a soft bitch who gets his feels hurt when shit hits the fan. Like Carr, Josh is a step 1/2 away from crying at the podium during his pressers.

I think he's a more athletic, but far less poised Ben Rapistburger.

PunkinDrublic 11-17-2022 03:39 PM

That play where Allen flipped out when Chris Jones didn’t get flagged for tripping, was vintage Phillip Rivers.
