10 yard fight? Man those games were the shizzles

Nothing holds a candle to Tecmo Super Bowl though.

Tecmo is still going strong, they have roster updates and everything. Blows Madden away IMO

You can play leagues online in Tecmo now, they made it playable over the internet.

Anyone remember Aztec on the Apple II?

Aztec sounds vaguely familiar but I can't recall playing it.

My dad had an old red Volvo station wagon with Apple II as the personalized tag haha. He was super into it and had new games and joysticks all around his office.

Thems was the days man, I think I played Aztec back in the early 80's. Might have been 81, Hard Hat Mack...Aztec...and the original Castle Wolfenstein. :D

That was on the 2600, the one I just put up was a 2 player arcade game with rollers that got destroyed constantly and were always broken cuz people abused the crap out of them.

I know, just wanted a chance to mention the worst football game of all time. Even TV Sports Football on the TurboGraphix 16 was better.

Yeah, a lot of people blame ET for Atari's demise. I think the 2600 ran its course and got outpaced by better technology.

It was until they found a bunch of them in a landfall a few years ago.

Because they games weren't officially licensed they got killed by the over abundance of games, namely terrible games they weren't vetting at all. It's a huge reason that when Nintendo came about they officially licensed games to not have terrible shit they had no control over get released.

I believe next to nothing. I seen a show sometime back about the 80s. Apparently the game flopped so bad they couldn't get rid of them. Can't remember all the details but it something along the lines they put them in a shipping container and buried them. Not sure if that was fact or just an urban legend

No, TV Sports Football was a game on the niche (and failed) 16-bit TurboGraphix system.

That don't seem familiar but I recognize both. Then again, I'm trying to remember shit from 35 years ago :doh!:

I thought I'd try and play a game today.
Dug through a tub of PS3 games and found a Madden game.

Just done an exhibition and of course picked the Chiefs without a second thought. I kicked off and my special teams player was Jevon Belcher....ooof.

They scored...offense came on and the year dawned on me. Matt mother ****ing Cassel was the damn QB. Shut that shit off and found something else to do. :doh!:

My original thought was no shit, that game was horrible. Then I got curious and Googled it. Couldn't find ET but on average games would have been $100-$120 in todays dollar.

Cheapest I could find one to buy now is $5.50. ROFL
The "landfill" games went all the to $1500.

That's almost exactly my situation my senior year at UMR. I got an apartment in an old house right across from the student union, and when I went back soon after graduating it had been turned into a parking lot.

It was cheap rent in a fantastic location, so I really liked it.

Fish 11-16-2022 09:01 PM

Me and the boys used to spend so many ****ing quarters on Gauntlet. LOL.

I was always super pissed if I didn't get to pick the Barbarian character though.

Two high-capacity video game consoles AND a robotic vacuum cleaner? Your past self wants to see a picture of your flying car.

Rain Man 11-16-2022 09:06 PM

I think I vaguely remember Gauntlet, but never played it much. It must have not been in my local arcades.

It does remind me of a vaguely similar game, though, called Robotron.

I played it a bit because a friend of mine was into it, but I didn't think it was a good value for the money. You'd basically start in the middle of the screen and get swarmed by zombie-like robots while you held them off as long as possible.

Fish 11-16-2022 09:51 PM

Gauntlet was one of the first video games to allow for more than 2 players to play at a time. And as a young kid in a big arcade with friends, that was awesome. You and three of your buddies all jacked up on candy and soda pounding this big arcade machine at the same time. You'd likely remember the arcade since it was so unique at the time...

Pretty simple game, all characters were in the same side scrolling scene. Fighting ghosts and monsters. Each character had different fighting advantages. When you could get all 4 characters playing at the same time, it was some epic coop fun.

Fish 11-16-2022 11:25 PM

The awesome OG Gauntlet 4 player arcade suffered a fatal flaw though, that wasn't really apparent at the time, but is really awkward now. The arcade controls were setup in a way that your right hand controlled movement and your left hand operated the buttons.

The track ball was almost the size of a bowling ball and just as heavy. Anyone who has pinched their skin in that track ball probably still remembers the pain. I know I do.

TinyEvel 11-17-2022 12:19 AM

This was my basement setup when I lived in KC. The arcade was an original Galaga cabinet with modified multi-game control panel and a 60-game chip, played so many awesome games.

I would make a tumbler of manhattans and play Time pilot and Dig Dug until 2am on a weeknight.

We still have the Mrs. Pacman cocktail table, original game and it works great. Have had it for 22 years. Got it repaired in KC at a arcade shop on the corner near Q39.

If anybody lives near Silvis, IL, this looks like a good deal on a 60-game Multicade. 800 bucks currently.
