Harlan is better on the radio than he is on the tv.
|
I’m genuinely convinced that Harlan deliberately tried to jinx the faiders’ kicker on that missed field goal after Harlan went out of his way to mention the kicker’s streak. I laughed my ass off after he said it and just knew that he wanted the kicker to miss. (Somehow reminded me of years past when he would do an interview on 810 before a before a game and agree to sneak some obscure word or sentence into the broadcast… and then actually followed through with it.)

I don't believe in jinxes but I did laugh pretty hard at that missed FG.

Year one, he was great. Nw I can't stand him. He was begging for an Eagles fumble late in the game. Its like instead of talking about certain situations, which he is good at talking about, he's now simply reacting, yelling fumble, blowing up a situation that doesn't deserve to be blown up at all. |

Ian Eagle was truly great at describing Tyreek, Mahomes and Kelce plays when they were emerging stars. I also appreciate that Ian Eagle does not do the Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, Kevin Harlan and Trent Green self-conscious pumping up of the Chiefs opponent as if viewers would tune out the game if they did not exaggerate the other team's chance to compete with the Chiefs. And after doing the pump up of Chiefs opponent bullshit, they all sound like cheated-on spouses if the Chiefs actually fall behind or lose the game. Of the CBS crews that get Chiefs games, Ian Eagle is the best play-by-play because he has a good voice and appropriate enthusiasm and he is not as phony as Nantz and Harlan with their fake enthusiasm about the chances of the Chiefs opponent. Romo was decent until he got the big pay raise. Now he does like Rocky Marciano was described in Sports Illustrated after retirement. he would show up to your event if you paid him with a bag of cash and provided a whore, but not have any real enthusiasm for being there. Except for Romo it is probably greens fees at the best course in town with a group of players that bet but are not that good instead of the whore. |
Eff it.
Bring back Gus Johnson. |
Kevin Harlan is significantly better and more natural than Ian Eagle.

Give Harlan the TNF contract.

The thing with Harlan is he's basically the national radio voice of the NFL. He's the #1 guy and gets to do the biggest playoff games and Super Bowl every year on radio. Even Nantz and Buck and the rest don't get to do the Super Bowl but only once every 3-4 years. Harlan gets to call it every single year.
I have no idea but who knows if he'd want to give that up for anything but the #1 job on CBS and he'll never get that because of Nantz. |

I don't know if other radio guys do this or if Harlan does this because he's old school, but the man uses his own goddamn stopwatch to measure the hang time on punts when he does his broadcasts. He's an total pro, and if jettio doesn't like his commentary during TV games, that's whatever, but even he cannot deny Harlan's prowess doing radio broadcasts. He's the best in that arena, and if jettio disagrees on that point, I'll fight him at the George Brett statue myself. |

Maybe it was coincidence that he had Chiefs at Broncos and Chiefs at Raiders when Chiefs had slow starts and we get the CBS beginning of game commercial tsunami with the music. Maybe it was the whole combination that was annoying. |
