I saw him say on the Pat McAfee show that he had hired an agent so he wouldn't get the short end of the stick this time. I could probably find a youtube video of him saying it. But it begs the question. If his last deal is the short end of the stick, why would he play on it? Which I would also add in the question is nearly 20 million per year the short end of the stick? Sheesh...

I think he wants new deal, with more guaranteed money and more money per year based off the statements I have heard from him.

But only him and his agent knows what he wants.

Here it is: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other...ed/ar-AA18nM7z

Add that to him making a comment on Pat's shows that he's excited about some of the team names being associated with his trade rumors (assuming that's the Chiefs) and it does feel like he'd be willing to play his contact out here.

I'm not having a lot of confidence that him saying will be flexible that he would take a lesser, or even play on the same deal to be with the Chiefs. That sounds like a pretty vague statement to me that could allow him many pathways to negotiation.

I'm of the belief that money talks and bullshit walks.

Could be he is excited to get into Jerry Jones pocket?

Pesimist!

Looking at that statement of being more flexible in it's full context. He is talking about being flexible in not taking a top of the market deal. So 27-30 million is top of the market. He will make nearly 20 million aav the next 2 years, so lets split the difference between the 2 and assume that is what he wants. Does that seem reasonable? Does 24 million per year sound reasonable to you to pay Hopkins?

I think he is being a bit vague because it will depend on where he goes.

He wants to WIN! If he goes to the Chiefs, he will make it work.

If he goes to a shit team, he will want the money!

Sounds reasonable to me...

Sounds like he wants money regardless.

Whatever he wants is irrelevant I don't see how a team would trade + extend him for the money he wants at his age. If the compensation is met it comes down to would he want to stay in AZ or not?

Yes. But can we please ask him to just take $20m in KC so we can ensure he wins a SB?

You could.

But do you really want to offer a 31yr old WR 20 million per year?

Or he could keep hanging out in Dallas.

You're pretty confident he wouldn't get rid of a LB that's in the final year of his contract and likely won't be re-signed next year? I mean, he might not, but I wouldn't eliminate the possibility. Depends on who he's getting for that investment.

I had a thought - The Chiefs letting JJSS go for (11/year aav, 8/yr gty'd )would be criminal - if they don't have a plan. I wonder if they don't plan to make a move for Smith-Njigba if he falls into the late teens/early twenties. Not only are the names eerily similar, so are their play styles.

I'm also hoping that there's a plan in place already making JuJu expendable, but hard to imagine that's a draft pick because there's not much certainty we'll get the guy we want.
