I'm 3 weeks into recovery for a hernia repair. Six weeks is the consider enough time for a full recovery. I get what Andy is saying about pushing it and dealing with the after effects, though, but Mecole is at 8 weeks now.

At 3 weeks, you feel it when you stress the muscle, but even then it is more a discomfort than pain and, of course, there's worry about re-injury. Re-injury is a real concern if not fully healed, but at 8 weeks, I'd think you'd have to be getting closer to the point where the risk is essentially some what but not that much greater than if fully healthy.

If it is just the discomfort or pain, play through that shit and take your chances. If you go down, at least you tried. If you don't, bonus, you get to play in more games. So, take that chance on the Jags? Wait for championship? That's the situation.

Obviously the Raiders were not worth the risk, even if you thought him ready. My guess is that he'll be back when they think they really need him. So, not this week, even though he's "day to day.".

The thing is, when Hardman comes back the first game will be 10 plays or less, just like usual. The full workload doesn't hit for about 3 weeks after coming back. That's how Andy does it. Probably 3 plays on the first drive then maybe 3-5 the entire rest of the game.
