Starting to look like it's either DHop or a 1st round WR
|
A low 2nd for Elijah Moore and a low 3rd? I'd have done that all day. I'd have given up our 2nd for Moore and a 4th.

I actually don't like that trade for the Browns.

Take Denzil Mims off them

WR room is stacked now with Cooper, Peoples-Jones and Moore as the starting 3. David Bell was a 3rd rounder last year that could develop more. They added Dalvin Tomlinson at DT, Ogbo Okoronkwo at DE, and Thornhill at FS. And they will have Watson all year. On paper, they got alot better. |
No idea what the plan is. Reid doesn’t play rookie wrs much.

This is interesting. I think I would have kept him at that cost, but I have no idea about how he operates behind the scenes. Guy could have been a real pain to work with.

It sucks but, good luck Mecole and thanks for the memories. Good luck to you sir!
I am still optimistic that Veach has something in mind. He always does and we have not been disappointed yet. Chin up! :thumb: |

JuJu likewise, never a 1. He's a middling but solid 2. Hardman I think was supposed to be WR3, but Toney kind of took that over, because KT is just a more talented receiver. Right now, there's no one on the team that can fill JuJu's role of possession receiver. Skyy might end up filling that role, except that he has to learn to read zone. |
If the Jets land Rodgers, can I bet on Hardman saying that Rodgers is the best QB he’s ever played with? Sounds like easy money.
|
Interesting.
I guess Hardman was dead set on more targets. Gotta earn 'em, bro. |
Quote:
And of course Hardman will say something like that. It's boilerplate rhetoric. |

I need to find an idiot to make that bet with. |
So dang, what are we going to do at the WR position? Looking a little thin boys

I find it interesting that the two coaches who know Hardman the best didn't want him.

If we go by anything else, we're not signing a vet WR, installing a WR that hasn't played in half his scheduled games due to recurring injuries, and relying on pure hope that the other 2nd year guy will suddenly blossom into JuJu 2.0. Oh, and the Ross twins. Take you pick. Your guess is as good as mine. |

Veach: You've accomplished a metric crap-ton since you've been here Patrick. What records are you looking to break in 2023?
Mahomes: Well, I saw that Alex had a season where he didn't throw a TD pass to a WR. I'd like to do that through the playoffs and Super Bowl. Veach: Oh. Uh, well... I can certainly spend that money elsewhere. |
I knew it was wishful thinking we'd bring him back but I wish Mecole Hardman great success with his new team. Very under underupreciated as a Chief. Most under rated player.
|
Always loved his potential but it just didn’t translate into production and I don’t think it ever will , Wilson is going to be a target hog and Lazard will get his , he is going to be a really one player on a lesser team , his next contract will be for less.
|
How will his pelvis feel in New Jersey?

Jets traded Moore to the Browns.
|
Good riddance Hardman
|
Remember when this guy was drafted to replace Tyreek Hill?
|
Pretty good day for the Jets.
Got the equivalent of a high third for turning Moore into Hardman. |
WR room is a dumpster fire right now. For all the talk of all the WR's wanting to come here it sure doesn't look like it too much.

Hardman had his moments, including the KO return when we were down 24-0 to the Texans, but overall he was a big letdown frm what was expected.
He does have super speed on those jet sweeps and incredible acceleration that I will miss. |
Looking more and more like the Jets are the team to challenge the Bengals for 2nd in the AFC.
If they get Rodgers and OBJ they’re winning that division IMO |

Is that a play on words that indicates the Jets are trading Moore and Mecole is taking his role? |

But his number of targets pretty much stayed the same. Now, in 2022 it looked like he was going to be featured more, but injuries derailed that possibility. But in the 8 games he played, he showed that he could run more routes and that he could reliably find the soft spots in zone, and that he could make big catches in big moments, and that he could catch the ball under duress. Was he ever going to be the 2nd target behind Kelce? Probably not. But to say that he never got better as a WR just isn't the case. |
I gotta be honest, I had a soft spot for Hardman. Always seemed like a positive guy and good teammate. He didn't complain when he was here even if he was frustrated. At that cost I'd have honestly loved him back, I think it's good value. It just seems like he genuinely wants to prove himself a more complete player somewhere else. Not sure it'll work out how he expects but good luck to him.
|
The Mecole Hardman free agent signing by the Jets was kind of related to Cleveland.
Jets trade WR Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns in an exchange of day 2 draft picks. |
So we are going to have a 15-page mega thread over losing Hardman? A simple thanks for your service thou laking you got rings. Good Luck watch the door on the back sweep.
|
If Mecole could irritate a typically unflappably Patrick, he’ll tie crybaby Rodgers into a pretzel quickly.
|
Ya'll can hate on Mecole "Jet Sweep" Hardman all you want, but that play was money!

Not sure what Veach saw in him over D.K. Metcalf, who ran the same 40 dash time but happens to be bigger than a house. I suppose we don't win more than two Super Bowls with Metcalf, but having him on the roster would have been something these last few years. I believe Seattle extended him last season in his final year. The Chiefs would likely have done the same or traded him for a crapload of picks. |

he was a good gadget player though. That jet sweep was pretty nasty and added value to the offense. But he barely played last season and we were fine without him.

Little sad to see him go, but happy I don't have to root for a player with that dumbass first name anymore.

You put those weapons around Rodgers and he’s back to being top 3. The guy had no elite receiving talent in GB last year
|
Whatever they paid, it was too much.
|
Good for him. Jets should be contenders if they get Rodgers.
|
Surely we are getting Odell or Hopkins. Can’t see us rolling with Toney/Moore/MVS and rookies
|
Pringle and Robinson are sitting by their phones.
By the way, that's an antiquated expression. I guess I should say they're keeping their phones in their front pockets. |
