SDSU is done.
|
Did that SDSU player just get a foul while he was on the ground?
|
The land of Mystic Pizza wins again.

What a snoozer of a final.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......... |

That might be one of the dumbest possessions I've ever seen ever. |
Nantz should have retired last year… better game to go out on.
|
UCONN like they just went to work. Ho hum. No big deal.

San Diego Frauds ain't getting the flagrant foul tonight.
Adios California scum |
Would've been cool to see what FAU could've done...
|
Nice to see some decent offense in transition. Finally.
|
Really good team.

Starting to think SDSU might not win.

Less satisfying championship game… Georgia/TCU in football or this?

UCONN is such an incredible program. 5/5 in National title games, all since 1999.
Any other program better? Kentucky? Duke? |
Ohh and UConn is in the upper tier of college basketball programs now.
|
Had to call that foul did you?

They are an upper tier college program even if their success is all recent. Titles are all that matter. |

Maybe Hurley can bring them there. |

Wait. Championship game was tonight?
****ing hell. Missed it. Congratulations UConn. You’re a blue blood. |

I wouldn’t |
No easier path to a championship I the history of this tourney than this. UConn was never challenged.
Their backups would of win by 29 with all the frauds in the FF. |

I get that UConn doesn't have much consistent success prior to or after Calhoun, but there's literally only 4 programs that have had 3 coaches win at least 1 title. UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, and UConn. I also think Hurley will be fine at UConn. He's further away from the mess Calhoun/Ollie left him with and they're back in the Big East, which should stabilize them for recruiting purposes as opposed to being in the American. |

They also beat arguably the best team in the tournament in the regular season (Alabama). |

But congratulations to them. They took care of business and olayed was was in front of them. Also I forgot to watch the GF and this game. The matchups were so riveting. |

I have no respect for people that put down championships or put qualifiers on them or discredit them. That's the most lame shit.
|
Maybe I’m alone on this but that was still fun to watch. SDSU was brutal on offense but it was fun to watch a really good offense match up against a defense that’s pretty relentless. Hawkins seems like he could use another year but if he can consistently work off ball he could be one hell of a pick and pop guy in the pros.
|
SDSU shot about as good as me in the dark with both hands tied behind my back.
That was tough to watch for most of it. I thought they were going to take it in the second half when momentum really started to swing but they ran out of gas. Happy for the Hurley's as a Jersey guy. I used to go watch Bobby Hurley play at the Jersey Shore Summer League. Ah, the good 'ol days. |
Man Kansas fans are ****in salty lmao

Are we really crying about an easy path a year after Kansas beat that awful Providence team, a 10 seed Miami, and an 8 seed in the NC game? And wasn't Nova missing their best player?
JFC, that's just part of making it through the bracket of a single elimination tournament. |
5 titles in 25 years.
Holy shit. I have no idea why a lot KU fans are hating on them. It’s that way outside of CP, too. Doesn’t make any sense. |
Quote:
I find it amusing. If it was a Big 12 rival, I'm sure it would be more obnoxious because their fans would come out of the woodwork every few years when they actually made the tournament, just to win another natty.. or would go .500 in conference play just to squeak in and win a natty. LMAO And I remember seeing this chart last year.... <blockquote class="reddit-embed-bq" style="height:500px" data-embed-height="500"> <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/tt4pkn/another_who_are_the_blue_bloods_chart_historical/">Another “Who are the Blue Bloods?” Chart - Historical vs. Modern Success</a><br> by <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/gin-n-fresca">u/gin-n-fresca</a> in <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/">CollegeBasketball</a> </blockquote><script async="" src="https://embed.reddit.com/widgets.js" charset="UTF-8"></script> |
Hating on UConn is like Chiefs fan hating on the Rams or the Foreskins for winning a title.
You might be into something with the insecurity thing. Nobody is close to matching 5 in 24, so Duke, Kentucky, and UNC fans must be salty, too. |

It’s not that unusual |
UConn is insane. No hate. Winning 5 titles in 24 years. Wow. And actually in the tournament era. Six games is a real gauntlet to get thru.
I know those 1940s titles when Whitey McWhite was the basketball star on campus and beat Milky Caucasian in a 2 game tourney mean alot to some schools. This is unprecedented from the huskies though. |
Quote:
They earned this one. |
Quote:
But pointing out that UConn never had to play a difficult game because everyone good lost in front of them thus depriving neutral fans of a decent FF to watch at the end? Yes. It was objectively a bad ending to this one. |

The fact that UCONN has spread out 5 titles among 3 different coaches in 25 years might be the most impressive thing about their run here. They sort of remind me of the damn 2010's Giants. Missed the playoffs in 2011, 2013 and 2015, but a damn dynasty by default for nabbing 3 titles in five years.

UConn beat the ever-loving shit out of the teams that beat the supposed "great" teams.
Would it have been better if they struggled and eeked out a win or two against the teams that knocked off the blue bloods? |
