Wright, Irving, or Lloyd.
These three are all cut from the same mold. All three have something like 6.1-7.1 yards per run, 3.9-4.4 YAC, 132-177 elusiveness rating, 43-69 missed tackles, running and passing skills, speed. Can we please have one, Andy! Please? |

Allen is a freak. Made Bruce Feldman's 2023 Freak's List - ranked #34. He wrote "Last year he made it on the strength of his power-cleaning 406 pounds and clocking a 1.49 in his 10-yard split. He benched 365. Allen has bulked up 10 more pounds to 245 now. “I’m bigger, but I am leaner now,” Allen says. “I went from 11 percent body fat to 8 percent this offseason. I’m definitely faster now.”" Allen squatted 600 lbs also and clocked at 20 mph on the gps. And most sites have his 40 at 4.4. He’s got plenty of production at Wisconsin. And he’s super young at 20 years old. |
Guerendo is a burner.
Guerendo won the state title with a jump of 24 feet, 5 ¼ inches, or 2 ½ inches off the meet record. He has the state’s top marks this year in the 100 meters (10.52), 200 meters (21.61) and long jump (24-1 ¾). Avon had the fastest 400 relay time of regionals (41.73). https://www.indystar.com/story/sport...ory/651367002/ Guerendo, who returned kickoffs in high school, has been timed at 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash and hit 23 mph last season during his 82-yard touchdown run against Eastern Michigan. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sport...te/7958417001/ |

I'm a little late to this thread.
I'm from the camp that you should NEVER give a running back a second contract. NEVER Treat them like they're disposable. So this is a position group where the Chiefs can get younger, cheaper, and more talented. My plan would use one of our 5th round picks on a RB, and then I'd go and sign Antonio Gibson to a little deal and sit back and see how that improved this offense, because I have no doubt that it would. |

There's kind of a reason I think we haven't talked about Allen and Estime much on this board and that's because they carry 2nd to early 3rd grades. I don't think any of us want to spend that kind of draft capital on a RB right now. I don't know that you spend it with a solid starter on the payroll for two more seasons. Now, Milton in the 5th? Yes, please.

I'd spend a 2nd on a RB, if he can be a legit pass catching 3 down guy.
|
This draft looks super deep to me. If we compare previous drafts, think about when we drafted CEH, how does he compare to Blake corum? Wouldn’t you pick corum over CEH? Corum has production and is a better athlete. I point this out because of the depth of this draft. I don’t necessarily want corum but I wouldn’t be upset with the pick at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if corum fell to the early third round. guerendo is a better value in the 4th or 5th and I love his upside with his size and speed in our offense.
Corum clocked 21.1 on the gps and is built thick like CEH. He’s faster. Take a look at this. https://twitter.com/RAanalytics/stat...s-his-speed%2F |

The averages over the last 6 drafts:
R1 1.5, R2 2.5, R3 3.2, R4 3.8, R5 2.7, R6 3.7, R7 3.0 The likelihood of a R1 RB this year? Probably Zero. I think it'll look like a blend of 2022 and 2019... ish. And those just happen to be the two years in that span with higher than average (20) numbers of backs taken (22 and 23, respectively). I have 25 draftable RBs. Of course, a few might go undrafted. Here's my take... Round 2 Jonathan Brooks, Texas Trey Benson, Florida State Jaylen Wright, Tennessee Round 3 Braelon Allen, Wisconsin Blake Corum, Michigan Audric Estime, Notre Dame Will Shipley, Clemson Round 4 Bucky Irving, Oregon Marshawn Lloyd, USC Frank Gore Jr, Southern Miss Cody Schrader, Missouri Round 5 Isaac Guerendo, Louisville Kendall Milton, Georgia Emani Bailey, TCU Kimani Vidal, Troy Round 6 Daijun Edwards, Georgia Jase McClellin, Alabama Dylan Laube, New Hampshire Blake Watson, Memphis Jawhar Jordan, Louisville Round 7 Ray Davis, Kentucky Isaiah Davis, South Dakota State Miyan Williams, Ohio State Carson Steele, UCLA Dillon Johnson, Washington Wildcards Michael Wiley, Arizona Jaden Shirden, Monmouth |
You're high on Allen, eh? Seems to be a lot of mixed feelings out there, but he could be a great thunder to Pachecco's lighting IMO. I like Benson too! But, ultimately, I think we find value in RD 4 with Irving, Lloyd, or Gore Jr. Later rounds I like Guerendo or Watson!
Going to be a fun draft! |
How about Corley and Reid just uses him as a hybrid slot WR/RB to replace McKinnon?

Interesting. I appreciate that. It’s good work. It’ll be interesting to come back and see how close this prediction is. If this is true, give me Isaac Guerendo in the 5th and Ray Davis in the 7th. I don’t see anyway Ray falls that far. He’s not a combine star but the guy just knows how to play the game. I’m vandy fan and watch mostly sec ball. And Ray is a baller. He just understands the game. He’s a great wr too. He knows where to sit in the open spot and has great hands. He’s a good blocker and savvy runner and runs with power also. He’s productive at both vandy and Kentucky.

Irving is a really nice player. I dunno where he's gonna end up getting drafted round wise though.
Like, could we get him in the 4th? |
Isaac Guerendo just ran a 4.33 at 220 lbs. holy shit
|
Guys so far that really hurt themselves for me are Emani Bailey (4.61!) and Cody Schrader in terms of being guys that needed to be fast but weren't.
I think Benson solidified top-3 RB status running a 4.39. I like what Lloyd, Davis, and Vidal ran. My biggest knock on Davis was how slow I thought he looked on tape. |
Wright is a 2nd rounder
|
Irving at 4.56 at his size isn't exactly a great thing. Estime with a 4.72. OUCH.
|
Kinda mad I just watched some Jaylen Wright highlights after seeing that 40.
We surely will draft a rb, but I’m sure he’ll be long gone by then. Bucky is an impressive watch. But those numbers are very de’anthony Thomasish |
I’d take wright in the 2nd

Imma keep banging the Keilan Robinson drum.
He’s a good fit to replace the McKinnon role, he was a return man on kick offs, and a gunner on punts for Texas. |

Any chance you can update this crow, post combine? I’m curious. Estime might fall to the 6th? That 40 has to kill him? Success rates of RBs with bad 40s is pretty bad statistically? Guerendo is probably a 3rd rounder now?

I don't want another midget running back anywhere near this team. In fact, I hope we find a RB that is actually different than what we have. It would be nice to have a big back to give the offense more options. I know being bigger doesn't mean better, but I am so sick of watching us run up the middle on 3rd and 3, only to get stuffed at the LOS. |
Does that past CEH pick make anyone else feel like we might go RB a lot earlier than most expect?
We're down x2 RBs currently, the RB room is in worse condition than our WR room now, and catches out of the backfield are pretty critical for Andy and Pat. |

I expect La'Mical Perine to be a weekly factor this season, as well. |

They seem to be in the same ballpark as I feel on the rest though. |
I haven't watched much of the class, but Jaylen Wright seems like a fit based on how we use our backs, right? And Guerendo is a capable pass catcher who runs better in space and could be the option for the third down back. He is just indecisive from the backfield - but in space, could produce until he gets more familiar with exactly whats expected of him. Not sure about his pass blocking though.
|
had a feeling the other day that we might land Cody Schrader in the draft
that would be nice |
|
Crazy how J Wright's climbed from 7th round projection to a potential top 3 RB in this draft depending on who's board it is. One of the guys at PFF said he had him at #1, but changed to Benson last min.
|
Quote:
I'd be happy with a trade down from 2 or up from 3 to get Shipley in the mid 3rd ish. Don't think he lasts to 90 whatever, although if he does, I'd imagine he's a slam dunk compared to the 56th OL off the board or whatever else. |
Jaylen Wright in the 2nd is a perfect pick for me.

Maybe Lloyd would be available later. |
Dylan Laube, New Hampshire... anyone?
As a senior in 2022 he played in 12 games and ran for an outstanding 1205 yards on 245 carries for average of 4.9 ypc, with 15 TDs, with 3 fumbles. In the passing game he had 49 receptions for an outstanding 474 yards. As a fifth year senior in 2023 he played in 10 games and ran for 745 yards on 161 carries for average of 4.6 ypc, with 9 TDs, with 2 fumbles. In the passing game he had 68 receptions for 708 yards. |

I think it would be super exciting for us to take a RB fairly high in the draft, I believe we have the roster for it now. Someone in the 3rd-4th would be ideal IMO. Currently, I think only Brooks goes in the 2nd but he'd be on my list too.
Brooks, Benson, Wright, Corum, or Lloyd. Big Pachecco fan, but he's not a top all-around RB type and needs a good compliment I think. |

Came here to point out that RB might be the pick we should be focused on. There's a ton of good WRs in this draft, but not too many RBs in a year we could use some help.
Also, anyone else remember being excited when we Kniles Davis picked in the bottom of the 3rd? Yikes, that one didn't work out too well. |
