I didn’t appreciate KC until after I left. I moved in 99 and the downtown area was much different then and was mostly a ghost-town after 5:00 on Friday. It’s a much better city than I remember it growing up. Every time I go back home I’m always reminded how nice people from KC are. Sure I like the warmer weather of Florida and all the fun things that go along with living here, but KC is a pretty effing cool city.

When did I say he was JAG? I said there was nothing that memorable about him, which there isn't. He is nothing compared to the guys we have now. If he was on our current roster, he'd literally be the 4th guy on the depth chart. All I remember about him is he had no idea how to turn his head and defend a pass.

He's a solid corner, but not someone you'll remember like McDuffie and/or Sneed.

Arguably a Top 10 corner in the league isn't one of the three best on the Chiefs?

Your join date of August 2019 really says all we need to know about you.

Tyreek lowkey wants to come back. He sees KC winning the most coveted trophy without him. But with that trade we got mcduffie, karlaftis, and rashee rice. I'm not sure we are the same defense without those 2. Maybe not far off but they are definitely impactful players.

He would not be ahead of McDuffie, Sneed or Josh Williams on this team. If you think he would, I don't really know what to tell you. He might be as good as Williams, he is nowhere close to Sneed and Trent.

My join date has nothing to do with anything. I have been a fan of this team since I was 11 years old. You want to start taking weird, pointless personal shots over my opinion of a player who doesn't even play for this team anymore, be my guest. Have fun!

The first one that I thought of was his pick against the Steelers.

They ran a flea flicker, he went up caught the pass, came down with it one handed to keep the WR away from it

jettio 02-15-2024 01:05 PM

One thing is for sure, after Chiefs players spent a week at new Raiders building.

Chiefs front office better have architectural drawings of their new building by the summer to show the players, especially if tax vote passes in April.

ThaVirus 02-15-2024 01:16 PM

Ward was a really good cover corner in KC. We got him for peanuts and he developed into a key contributor.

Arguing that he wasn’t ever that good because he didn’t make a ton of splash plays is dumb.

I don't recall that one, I remember a one handed pick by him against Houston a few years back that was pretty sweet.

Again, I'm not arguing that. I have said several times he was a solid player for us. I said he wasn't memorable in the way Sneed/McDuffie will be and somehow it turned into me saying he sucked. I never once implied that.

Yeah, Ward was really good. I didn't want to see him go, but Spags is a secondary GOD, so nobody gave a **** what I thought.

He was the one that killed everybody, but was an inch too short for those Jamar Chase 50/50 balls Burrow threw. I think when he was here nobody threw at him because Nelson or Fenton or somebody was on the other side, and it was a much easier target.

The only reason your football takes are memorable is because they’re so bad

I used to always call Steve "Sonny Bono" on purpose. I got "corrected" numerous times, even at Arrowhead.
He did have the longest QB TD run in NFL history for a while. I think it was close to 80 yards

You literally answered your own challenge, doofus. Ward has been consistently ranked very high at the CB position. Easily top 10 CB last season.

Once again, I never said he wasn't a good player. I said he wasn't memorable and our guys are better.

As far as answering my own challenge, I literally had forgotten that play until someone else mentioned it because it was an early season regular season contest several years ago. Not really something that will go down in Chiefs history by any stretch.

When Cowboys came to Arrowhead in 2021, Ward had such a good game covering CeeDee Lamb and others. That game ensured that an NFC team that considers the Cowboys to be a contender would give Ward a big second contract.

You're probably correct, but that's not how it happened.

I guess I'm not sure why everyone is going to such great lengths to defend Ward after he trashed the organization in his Super Bowl presser. My comment was mostly just made as a shot at him for that. He said it's better over there, well we have better corners than him now and he's irrelevant to us. Basically all I was saying.

Yes, Ward did have issues of PI penalties early in his career for not getting his head turned around when making plays on the ball & receivers.

Yes. One of my first posts on this site was simply asking how it's possible for ward to always be right there but just can't get his head around in time...to which staylor (or franchise) told me to shut the f up. Good times....

Yes or he would get flat out burnt for a big play… remember Houston’s first scoring play in the Divisional Game.

Jewish Rabbi 02-15-2024 07:17 PM

You know who I remember? Dan Sorensen. Maybe he should have gotten a max contract instead of Ward.

alpha_omega 08-21-2024 08:24 AM

I always thought Ward was good, but this writer is taking it over the top a bit (actually, a lot).

2024 NFL roster waivers and trade candidates

49ers cornerbacks
Charvarius Ward is the crown jewel in San Francisco's secondary but a lack of depth and experience led to Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir and Samuel Womack III picking up varying levels of playing time early in their careers. The team drafted Renardo Green out of Florida State in the second round while Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin and Darrell Luter Jr. compete opposite Ward.

Ehh. Not really. Ward has been a top 10 guy the last 2 years. SF got a hell of a deal on that contract

Dunerdr 08-21-2024 09:37 AM

I expected him to still be good but he's probably actually a little bit better even now. I expected him to regress from his final season here but that just wasn't really the case.

Megatron96 08-21-2024 09:44 AM

Ward was ranked in the top-5 last season. Top-10 the season before. And it's not just stats or some PFF alchemy. I watched Chav lock up and shut down DK Metcalf in two games two seasons ago. He's become a topflight CB.

Dunerdr 08-21-2024 09:51 AM

DK has to hate him. He's been more physical than him at the line a lot, run routes for him and broke up a hand full of passes at the catch point.

DJ's left nut 08-21-2024 09:51 AM

But we did. The Chiefs were the ones who identified his talent and went out to get him. They then developed him into a top-flight starter. At the end, they decided to move on, due to his price tag.

Did we also not bat 1.000 on Sneed?

Eh. Maybe it's just me, but that's not how I read it. To me, it seems like they're saying that Ward is the 'crown jewel' of the SF defensive secondary, not a 'crown jewel' of the league.

RealSNR 08-21-2024 04:22 PM

Yeah. He's the crown jewel of the SF secondary. The best they have.

Nothing wrong with that.

Still a dumb bitch, though. Wonder if he still thinks it's better after we pantsed him in OT of the SB
