Hell of an addition.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce may be the faces of the team, but its the defense that makes it go. |
Do we have any cool videos of him beating somebody other than Wanya Morris?

JFC on a defense with Karlaftis, Jones and Turk this guy is going to rape

I love how Veach values pass rushers over DBs. Keep adding pieces and let Spag be more aggressive.

Lamar and Allen are elite running QB’s and having excellent rushers on the outside to rotate like Chenal and Uche make the difference. His speed is well needed as well. They used Gay in that role a bit last year but Uche knows how to play DE full time. The depth at DL is so deep. I love it. These guys were dead ass tired in the AFCCG last year and now they have the depth there for running QB’s |

Belichick on McAfee saying how great this trade is for KC. Says Uche is a versatile guy who can pass rush and drop into coverage.

My very first impression was he wore 55 and he basically is a Dee Ford/Frank Clark Lite. The DL from Michigan connection continues. We gave up a 2026 6th round sele
-A 2020 second round pick selection -Speed rusher -Only 26 years old -Contract year This was a bargain. Does this say all we need to know about how the team feels about Felix? |

A thing of note that Veach is doing is spreading out the draft picks to different drafts.
|
Decent player and tbh I've wanted a true speed rusher from the edge forever. We're better with him.
Little surprised we went for a DL addition. Shame if it eats into FAU's snaps as I think he needs them, but I guess you're only getting one shot at a 3peat. Plus, I'm not sure there's an LT out there we can easily plug in. Sadly. |

Veach is playing Chess here.
1. Building upon an existing strength. 2. CB depth is an issue, so turning up the heat helps a lot. 3. Having a speed rusher probably means we use fewer CB blitz packages. |
This pass rusher lived close to the quarterback?

What do you stock pile when you have the best rush defense in the league and force teams into 3rd and long consistently? ELITE pass rushers!
Karlaftis, Omenihu, Jones, Uche. Good freaking luck. McDuffie one of the best blitzers from the secondary Ive seen in years. Yeah, were going after it! |

What they are missing is I think the Patriots front office doesn't want the Bills to win above all else, like if you gave them the choice I think they'd rather the Chiefs go 3 in a row than Buffalo win any. |

I love George because he wins eventually, but he wins “slower”. Not “slow”, but he wins with relentless effort. He isn’t Dee Ford like this guy. When we can put Jones, Omenihu, George, and Uche out there…damn Jones is a monster. George is relentless. Omenihu is a Swiss Army knife. Uche is a blur. Match them up with their biggest advantage across the board, and let’s go. |
Wait, this is a 2026 pick? I didn't even know people took those.
|
I still think Veach makes one final splash for an elite corner. I dont think they are messing around.

Speaks alot to how bad FAU has been at rushing the passer

Wasn't impressed the day we drafted him, certainly not impressed now. |
Honestly he's the size of most NFL ILB's. He stands at 6'1," 245 pounds, and runs a 4.59. Spags could cook up a lot of different roles for him. He strikes me as a swiss army knife kind of player. We've already seen Chenal play on the edge a number of times.
He won't be used as just an edge rusher is my guess. He'll be just as much of a LB'er who can rush off the edge. (Prototypical Mike LB'er with edge rush capability.) It is something we kind of don't have. |

I really wanted Myles Garrett but this guy was my 1B. What a great trade!

I think the fans care about stopping the chiefs. Most of the coaches and gm are focused on winning. If they can't win now, invest in next season. Plus the coaches are confident in their plans...probably even arrogant.
And current coaches aren't worried about protecting the legacies of former coaches. I'm impressed with veach ability to get so much for so little. |
Spags' arsenal growing. Top 3 defense.

This is a great, no risk piece to an a,ready good defense….and leaves veach money to keep eating if he finds another piece to help at online or corner.

Some beat reporters pointed out that if he signs elsewhere next offseason, he very may well fetch a comp 7th rounder in 2026 anyways.

I'm trying to think of a way to visualize what makes this such a great trade and I think the best way I can do it is to call into mind a 3-4 defense, especially when Omenihu is healthy.
Give yourself an odd front with: Omenihu -- Jones -- Karlaftis That's a NASTY odd front, right? Now behind that you have Bolton and Tranquill in the middle with Uche and Chenal at OLB. BOTH of those guys can get down on the line and as a defense, you have no earthly idea which one it might be. And both of them can get back into short zones. And you don't know which one THAT will be. You're probably looking at a 4-3 front when the play actually starts...but you don't know that. And because Spags is a lunatic, at any given point you could send BOTH to the line and run a 5-2-4. And if you send that out there with a 3-safety sort of heavy look with Bolton or Tranquill at MLB, you could go with a 5-1-5, 4-2-5, 3-4-4 and just about any goddamn lunatic defensive look in between. Spags can have a FIELD DAY with this guy because he can play up or down. So can Chenal. And you have safeties that can play back or in the box. You have guys in Omenihu, Jones AND Karlaftis that can all play inside or out. It's a seemingly impossible defense to pigeonhole and a pre-snap look is just masturbating at that point - why bother? You have no idea what they're ACTUALLY going to run. It's a hilariously variable defense. |
Our defense reminds me of those 2000 Steeler defenses when they had the best front 7 in the league while being good enough in the secondary.
Very similar |
Quote:
If he busts out this year you gotta try to keep him if you’re the Chiefs. Maybe he’ll go for what we have Omenihu? He’s got the potential to be the best player on the DL not named Chris Jones. |
Quote:
With even mediocre coverage behind him, his sack numbers would've been way up the last couple years and you can see it a quick as a hiccup when you watch the clips of him. And we gave up so little to get him, we won't feel compelled to force him into a 3-down role or anything where we're asking too much of him. Gimme 25-30 snaps/gm at full tilt from Uche and he'll put up an 8-10 sack/season pace here pretty easily. We have 10 games left, right? So 5-6 sacks seems like a really makeable target for him. |

Belichick likes the trade. Said he’s a really good player and we got him for “nothing.”
|
Yeah, no. It has **** all to do with FAU. He's actually earned himself a lot more playing time since the bye. They acquired a decent player that fills one of the few roles we lacked on the defense for peanuts
