Reid vocally telling Veach in a press conference that he wanted help at LT was as explicit as I’ve ever seen Andy about his dissatisfaction at a position. If we can figure out our line, look out.

Looks like 2 mil with possible incentives to push it to 4.5. So probably needs to start to get the 4.5 otherwise 2. THough the numbers seem to indicate they expect him to start at some point.

Vetch has done his job to a very high caliber this off season all the way through today. Injuries are a crapshoot, so it’s just the way it goes— but now it’s time for the Jello to muther-fahkking gel.

I was more excited they were able to pull if off so quickly...I didnt expect him to be signed 10 minutes later.

Hardly "puffing my chest out"...I dont care that much.

Good potential get by the Chiefs...if he pans out, likely saved them a top draft pick next year.

Sassy Squatch 11-22-2024 05:28 PM

Using 2022 stats since Humphries was hurt last season + the Cardinals had him playing non-LT positions

Even last season tho his PFF grade was 63 (Same as Jawaan Taylor’s who hasn’t been bad this season tbh)

If Humphries returns to his 2022 form, this is a worthy signing

It's easy to say that in hindsight but, in my opinion, you have a history on this forum of predicting things in a way that makes you project yourself as enlightened or smarter than everyone else. Again, just my opinion. In other words, you could've just posted, "F**k, yes! My prediction came true!"

Don't take it too hard. I probably shouldn't have worded it so harshly. I didn't intend it to come across that way but I certainly understand how one could interpret that. Honestly, it's probably me that was just spouting off after reading a bunch of your previous posts about all manner of topics.

Sassy Squatch 11-22-2024 05:40 PM

Really nice get.

I mean a similar pedigreed OT who was healthy all season probably costs $18+ million. Even pro-rated and if all the incentives hit we got him for half that and he should be at full speed for the post-season.

Really nice resource management from Veach.

If he plays well he'll be looking for a 3 year deal at least. He'll be our OT through 2026 at least if we bring him back, IMO.

And I'm not at all opposed to that if he's a strong fit. Move Wanya to OG to replace Smith and away we go.

Even if we don't win a playoff game this year, it's been one of Veach's most productive years in terms of post-draft activity. It's clear he's doing everything he can without completely screwing our future.

Yeah.

I know he takes a lot of heat but I think he's established himself as a valuable reserve at the very worst and someone who can easily be a long-term starter, especially inside.

If you can allocate the 'swing tackle' spot to Morris while he's also starting, then Nourzad backfills if he has to swing outside, that can ease some roster pressure as well.

He's been brilliant. The crazy thing is most of the moves have had to be made due to injuries. Would never have imagined this roster when camp first started. Imo it's way better now despite losing key guys like Watson and Rice.

That’s the clear offseason move if Humphries is healthy and plays well.

1) Sign Humphries to play LT for the next three years.

2) Wish Trey Smith the best as he gets the bag from a bad team like the Titans. Collect comp pick.

3) Move Wanya Morris to RG to replace Trey.

4) Keep working Suamataia at T. See if he’s ready to replace Taylor at RT in 26.

I'd keep developing both Morris and Suamataia as OTs. It's been a revolving door at OT and while we need a starter we also need quality depth. We could shore up the position for the next couple of years and then be ready to move on from Taylor when his contract runs out in 2026. Either could be moved to G later if they really don't develop.

Ride out the last year of his deal and replace him in 26?

Possibly with Suamataia. Possibly with someone not yet on the roster.

Somebody's gotta play guard.

Morris will easily be better at that than Nourzad next year.

Bringing back Trey Smith just has to be a complete non-starter at this point. He has these streaks every year and he's just not a great pass protector. This isn't the right team for him.

Oh don't think the thought hadn't crossed my mind....

This is kinda as close to a “panic” move as you’ll find. And it’s not really “panic” per se but just understanding that LT is a real problem and we need to set a real floor at that position.

So happy they’re willing to recognize and aggressively (4.5mm!) address a problem like this midstream. Regardless of how it works out.

I'd be willing to bet this has been in the works for quite some time.
