The windmill I tilt at is I only want to deal with one company. I don't want to juggle different subscriptions even if they are only $5 a month or whatever.

If ESPN+ was an add on to YouTube TV, I would add it. No, I'm not going to sign up for your separate ESPN package, but at least I didn't have to watch WV beat KU, so there's that.

Y'know, that's another way to skin the cat on the tilted windmill. How about the NFL having a "unified subscription" where I can buy the package from the NFL, and then the various services feed into an NFL site that I log onto? I don't care who they sell their games to as long as I can make one purchase and use one login.

I guess maybe I care a little bit because they'll likely overcharge me, but it seems like there's a way this could be done.

Oh, I wasn’t clear on that. I meant like watching a show on Comedy Central on YTTV. I understand the need and tolerate the commercials during the NFL games. But I watched a few episodes of The Office on YTTV once ands the commercials seemed to go on and on.

Yes, that stream on crackstream really drives up your cost. And so confident in being incorrect. Some things never change.,

They can't. The ball keeps going through his hands.

So, when HP saves the stream and then creates gifs and videos, he really IS doing God's work.

Same. The sling thing was pretty cool but Netflix needs to stick to what made them successful.

They basically already have that with NFL+.

I pay $14.99 a month and get every game regardless of who is airing it. I can watch live or later, watch an entire game in 45 minutes, and get the All 22 footage too.

l have been watching World Poker Tour on Pluto Tv "stream now pay never" and holy crap they have a lot of commercials!

So, I have my remote handy when they come on to change the TV input to antenna and have gotten pretty good on the timing to go back.

Does that work with playoff games and the Super Bowl?

It's a decent option, but sucks you can't watch live... I'd basically have to ignore texts and pretty much all social media and other games/scoreboards until the game is over.

I've only had to stream the Chiefs a couple times per season, so in a pinch it would mean paying $15 for probably just one game and whatever else might be blacked out for that month.

If I ever cut YTTV, I'd probably go that route though.

The condensed view is usually available 90 minutes or so after the game ends. It's really not that hard to avoid spoilers and as a bonus, you're spared from reading the GDT.

htismaqe 01-02-2025 08:35 AM

Oh and about watching live. I can only watch ANY game live on my phone. However, you can watch anything locally or nationally broadcast live on any device. Whatever game the local affiliate is broadcasting is available live on NFL+.

Gotcha, and pretty sure you already answered this as yes, ANY game on your phone, but live content goes for Prime, Netflix, Peacock, NFLN, ESPN The Ocho... on any device for those nationally televised games? Or are those only 90 minutes after?

I’ve posted this a bunch of times in various threads since I found out about it, but seems to get little traction. On draft kings you can make a 0.10 bet on a game and live stream it there.

I can watch any game live that is nationally or locally broadcast. The NFL website explicitly says it includes all Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night games. The only games I don't get live are the Sunday regular games that aren't broadcast locally.

What is not clear is how they categorize something like Christmas day, which was on a Wednesday on Netflix, or how they do the playoffs.

Nice, that's promising and pretty surprising for the NFL to do something so comprehensive like that... catching local/national stuff live takes away a lot of the concern with waiting for other games, IMO.

That becomes a once every few months thing for Chiefs games and not needing to wait 90 minutes every single week (which would be even more problematic for prime time games).

Curious how the playoffs and Super Bowl go!

Weren't you one of the ones who refused to boycott Peacock? I think there were several people here basically saying... well what can you do? If you were one of those people you have nobody to blame but yourself.

I don't care that they had a 30 day free subscription... I don't care if you actually already had Peacock. Everyone should have streamed that game from someplace like one of these sites and gave them no revenue from it.

And if they doubled down on it after that, continue to do it. If everyone would have stuck to their guns for a short while we wouldn't be dealing with the bullshit now. You reap what you sow.

I tried to do it when I was in Europe on a vacation, and the fine print says that you can't watch the game from outside the country. This policy is why other countries hate America.

Who is "everyone"?

Netflix had 50+ million viewers on Christmas day. An effective boycott is basically logistically impossible.

People are going to watch whether you want to or not. You have a choice to embrace this or stop watching football because it's not ever going back to like it was. It's only going to get worse from here.

The people complaining are a small but vocal minority. The NFL is the most popular entertainment on the planet. The vast majority of NFL fans have zero problem with this. It's 2025, bro.

They've had one Peacock exclusive game and 2 Netflix games... we'd still be dealing with it.

I'm sure a ton of casual fans already don't watch games on these services if they don't already pay for that service... and I think that's the main issue with your theory.

27 million people watched the WC game on Peacock and only 3 million were new subscribers, and probably a huge chunk of that spent all of $5 or whatever it was and cancelled immediately.

I believe it was also already the lowest rated of WC weekend last year... would a few million less force them to shut it down already? I dunno, pretty doubtful, IMO.

Netflix has a much larger user base, making new subscribers far less important, similar to Prime... and again, casual fans aren't really going to care. They most likely already have Netflix and will watch because it's the NFL, and their subscriber base can hit record rarings for the NFL now without needing people to sign up... just like Prime.
