He always injured and lots.of dpi. Though they say those probably go away now. Lol. But I am on board being done with omenihu. We also need the line coach gone with him..on both sides. Our philosophy needs to change. |

Fulton was WAY better than Nazareth Johnson and Conner last year. That's all that matters. He's our CB3, and a damn good one. |
McDuffie, Watson, Fulton.
We good. |
Now our secondary issue is Bryan Cook being a starter.

Reid was the one getting torched non-stop last year, not Cook. |

2021:
Suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5, resulting in a stint on injured reserve. 2023: Placed on injured reserve in December due to a nagging hamstring injury. 2024: Missed two games with a hamstring injury. Played sparingly in multiple games while managing the hamstring injury. Had a knee injury in Week 4. Had another knee injury in Week 6. Other Injuries: Suffered a groin injury in 2022. Missed four straight games due to a groin injury. Missed time with a bad hamstring in 2022. Had a hamstring strain in Week 13 of 2023. Had a hamstring strain in Week 2 of 2023. Our new CB....reminds me of that receiver Mathews who was never healthy. |

As long as we go buck wild on the DL in the draft I think we're good |

Fulton, like most corners, has been up and down most of his career. He had what looked like a breakout that 2nd year in TN (like many others, I liked him in the draft. I actually liked him a year earlier when he surprised me by going back to college). The truly consistent corners tend to show steady ascension whereas Fulton's career has been a little more common - some good years, some not so good, strong contract year. Might be the start of a long period of consistency but for many it's just the continuation of the same trend a lot of CBs show of season over season inconsistency. Fine gamble but not what I'd call a sure thing. Maybe he's just a guy that responds well to good coaching. He had that in his best year in TN and again in SD. He'll get that here as well. Reason for optimism but I wouldn't bet the mortgage either. |
Side note - Watson is also extension eligible. This would seem to set the floor for him, no?
|
If he displaces Johnson and plays a solid slot role--Veatch has struck again.

Probably signals more McDuffie in the slot |
Quote:
Seems like almost all our picks hit or at least approach their ceiling at that position. Injury withstanding I think it’s more likely Fulton has his best year here than anything else. |
His floor is keeping Nadine Johnson on the sideline barring injury
|
He will push Najee Johnston to become the best CB he can be.
|
This probably means Nathan Joneston will be relegated to special team duties.

With the price of CBs maybe it’s smart to take on in the first round.

He intercepted Mahomes on the play that injured Rashee Rice last season.

Sounds like he's an outside guy, not a slot, and we're moving McDuffie back inside? |

Gonna be nice to get Connor out of the slot

I don't know if this guy is good but another CB was needed.

Let's just look at this statistically... No wizard metrics Bryan Cook gave up: 61.7% comp, 397 yards, 13.7 ypc, 3 TDs, 2 INTs, 6.0% missed tackles Here's a listing of some of the better and more well-known FS's in the NFL Camryn Bynum: 61.5% comp, 442 yards, 13.8 ypc, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, 6.8% missed tackles Jevon Holland: 54.2% comp, 321 yards, 12.3 ypc, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 8.8% missed tackles Kyle Hamilton: 72.4% comp, 326 yards, 7.8 ypc, 1 TD, 1 INT, 7.8% missed tackles - AP-2, PB Budda Baker: 74.3% comp, 608 yards, 11.1 ypc, 7 TD, 0 INT, 9.9% missed tackles - AP-2 and PB Geno Stone: 66.7% comp, 312 yards, 14.2 ypc, 5 TD, 4 INT, 15.6% missed tackles Minkah Fitzpatrick: 78.8% comp 540 yards, 13.2 ypc, 4 TD, 1 INT, 4.0% missed tackles - Made PB Justin Simmons: 59.5% comp, 229 yards, 10.4 ypc, 3 TD, 2 INT, 10.1% missed tackles Tyrann Mathieu: 61.1% comp, 422 yards, 19.2 ypc, 1 TD, 3 INT, 19.5% missed tackles Antoine Winfield Jr: 73.9% comop, 242 yards, 14.2 ypc, 2 TD, 0 INT, 13.0% missed tackles (9 games played) Harrison Smith: 66.2% comp, 506 yards, 11.8 ypc, 4 TD, 3 INT, 9.4% missed tackles Kerby Joseph: 44.2% comp, 330 yards, 17.4 ypc, 1 TD, 9 INT, 5.7% missed tackles - AP-1, PB It sure looks like he fits in the better of that group, which includes 2 guys that made AP-2nd team. Looks a lot like Camryn Bynum who was a priority FA and got 4/60 this year. |

I think name recognition factors hard sometimes, and we tend to look past the reality. Look at the AP-2 guys from last year at Safety. Purely name, not performance. I've been as guilty as anyone so I won't pretend not to be. |
Charger fans seem to think he sucks
but if anyone can coach him up it's the Chiefs |

Don’t see how going edge has become a popular take here in the last few days. |

He was not effective as a slot corner. Now he gets to go back to a role more lined up with his skill set (true safety with coverage skills who is best when he can keep things in front of him and come downhill). |

Yeah, Edge is a concern. Not as much of a concern as DT at the moment but it's a pretty big need. |

We signed this deal just in time, holy cow. |
Know nothing about him. I'll set a very low bar.....

The more time that passes, the more I absolutely love everything this team has done. This signing looks better by the day with the corner market blown up, and you know you're going to get his absolute best trying to get a huge payday after this deal. You're also making two other spots better by allowing McDuffie and Conner to play their ideal roles.
Every single year, we go into the season wondering if the other shoe will finally drop, and we'll finally have the down year we are more than overdue for. It would be perfectly understandable, and nobody could even flinch if it happened. Yet, here they are, raising their game yet again and outmaneuvering the league as usual. It's just mind boggling. |
Quote:
Especially when you consider they always draft 31/32, they are absolutely the best in the league at managing the roster to have a great chance to win this year + the two to follow. It’s never all in for the given year and that’s why each offseason they’re in a position to keep it rolling. |
