But, 2 things stood out last week. 1) he's not used to playing in bad weather. he didnt have a towel for the wet ball to start the game (only after the ball slipped out of his hand on a throw did he and the center start wearing one) and 2) he's awful at handling the ball. he carries it like a loaf of bread. and every team will be watching tape on that for future games.

Fortunately, you can teach him to stop those bad habits. and the fact that the Jets have no really decent receivers other than Keller and Cotcherry shows just how good hes been when the Jets need him to throw the ball.

I am pleasantly surprised with him. and I have to thank that dumbass Mangini for trading that pick to us for nobodys so we could get him :D

I bet Mangini would love to have that pick back right now.

BTW, where the hell have you been hiding out?

I have been busy with real life stuff (LOL) But that ''real life stuff'' is slowing down now and I will have more time to post :D

And I predict that the Chiefs will upset the Giants. the Giants are due for a bad game, and the Chiefs are due for a good one. (and I bet the Chiefs this week  )

Sorry I didn't get back to that in a hurry. Even with that, I still don't think, given the current situation of our offensive line, he'd be as successful as he is in NY.

NY has a better defense than the Chiefs do, and they also have a solid running game, which the Chiefs also lack as well.

That "solid" running game hasn't been nearly as solid as people think.

They struggled through the first three quarters of the first two games, constantly putting themselves in third and long situations.

Against the Titans, they only rushed for 83 yards.

Make no mistake, Sanchez is making plays.

I think the better point to be made is that the Jets are running the ball... a lot. 104 times--I think that was the second most in the NFL of any team.
I've always believed a strong running game puts you in a better position to win games. It wears out the opposing defense, and keeps your defense fresh in the 4th quarter.

In the Titans game, Sanchez had an outstanding first drive. After that, he scored two TDs on fumbles in Jets' field goal range and mostly did nothing. It makes the job much easier for a QB when the team is in a run-first, play good defense mode.

I'm not mistaking, he is making plays, no question. But NY's running game is still better than Kansas City's running game, although not much statistically-wise. 3.8 YPC to KC's 3.6.

But NY runs it more than KC (104 to 84) and they have 3 rushing TD's compared to KC's 0. It also helps their philosophy by having a solid defense as well.

Just ran across this and felt compelled to post it. I snickered, you might too.

I am not dismissing the run game, or the defense, but to dismiss what he has done because they are playing great defense and sticking to running the ball is denying the fact that he has been making plays.

The fact that they have stuck to the running game has put then in a lot of third and long situations, and he has been making good decisions, making great throws, and simply made plays to keep drives alive and get points on the board.

KcFanInGA 10-03-2009 07:32 PM

I can't believe people think Sanchez would look half as good behind our line. It's ludicrous.

As you know, I've been really complimentary of Sanchez. I like Sanchez.

I'm just tired of people acting like we made such a monumentally bad decision based on two different situations where one has pretty good tools to work with and one has horrible tools to work with. It's not an indictment on Sanchez as much as it is people who already believe that Cassel is a huge bust.

Definitely a fair question to ask if Sanchez could do well in KC's offense and Cassel in the Jets' offense. That's not a statement that invalidates anything Sanchez has done. It's a statement that suggests that making comparisons at this juncture are completely unfair.

No one thinks pretty much any QB would play well behind our embarrassingly bad line.

But what others, like myself, believe is that Sanchez is the superior QB to Cassel. And if a team can acquire an elite talent at the QB position, you do it. Build the line later.

The line doesn't have to come first. Just ask the Colts. And before someone spouts off, no, I'm not saying Sanchez is P. Manning, just that the Dirty Dirty is going to be a hell of a lot better player than Cassel.
