Because teams don't ever trade up to get a player they covet. I forgot this. We couldn't budge from our spot last year because as has been mentioned the top 10 sucked. There is talent in this draft. With Clausen, Bradford, Berry and Suh available at 3, the Chiefs will have a much easier time finding a partner.

We already have a butt load of picks anyways. We don't need 10 drafted players this year. I would rather stand pat and take one of the great players in a better draft.

Actually around 7%. And how often does it not happen because a team wants to draft at their position? The chiefs need a lot of players, they are in a position to trade down and should actively seek to acquire picks - even if that means taking less value than the pick is worth. This would increase the chance of a trade.

Okay, so 7% chance that it happens. I won't hold my breath. Like I said we already have a ton of picks in this draft.

This draft has 2 Top 5 QB's and our QB is average looking at best, this draft has 2 top 5 stud DT's and we gave up 300 yards rushing to James Harrison, you have a top 5 safety and our safety's are both over 30 and suck. I really don't see how you can go wrong here by standing pat. We have 2 2nd's and 3 5ths. We don't need anymore picks. We need a difference maker.

-There's a huge talent gap after Suh and Clausen. These are two guys that could be major trade bait
-You're assuming that teams care about expenses in an uncapped year. An uncapped year means your pocketbook is wide open. Perfect opportunity to frontload the hell out of a contract
-If you don't draft a top 5 pick, where else are you going to get an exciting playmaker? If there's no CBA, there won't be many free agents--all second-contract players will become RFAs
-There are five teams right behind us who all need a QB. Two of them will have new GMs. Holmgren is a QBs guru and I'm sure he doesn't feel great about Quinn/Anderson being his QBOTFs. Washington has a new GM on a team with a history of big splashes. The Bills don't have ANYbody at QB. Even Oakland and Seattle could all trade up. Each and every one of those teams could use Suh or Clausen

If Berry's off the board, we need to seriously consider a tradedown. We could probably move down a few spots, take a really good player at that value, and get some good picks on the side. You might sacrifice a little trade value, but who cares?

There is only one top 5 QB (maybe). That's Clausen. I wouldn't mind taking a swing at him. On the DTs, we dont' need another 5-technique. We need a NT. And none of those guys are going to do the job.

If you trade down, take a McCoy or a Bryant or a Taylor Mays, you can probably get a second and maybe more to get yourself a starting Nose Tackle, Guard, or LB.

We do need a difference maker. But i don't know if Clausen will grade that way and if Berry's off the board, you take a huge step down based on need/ability.

Trust me, the win vs. Denver will mean more in 4 years than whatever 1st round choice we pick...

Chiefnj2 12-28-2009 03:39 PM

If Clausen or Berry are available, you take one of them.

Well we aren't going to beat them so hey settle for the pick.

Watch this dude from A&M he'd be a good pass rusher for the Chiefs.

Why not.

It's a good German name.

Is he German?

Eh, clearly not. Perhaps he's got some in there somewhere though. Look at that studious face! The man wears him some classy spectacles!

6-3 AND 240!

Boom! If Obama can be from Kansas I'll pretend all day long this big bastard is Deutsch!

I hope the Chiefs win. 4-12 is a good start with the mess that this team is but it won't happen, Chiefs never win in Denver.
