Kerry Rhodes traded to Arizona for a 4th in 2010 and a 7th in 2011.

That's an excellent move.

About good deals yes. Lets pretend like the Chiefs are getting better this is depressing.

Rex couldnt get rid of Rhodes fast enough and he runs a similar defense to ours scheme wise. I cant see how that could have helped us much.

He is also a FS iirc and that would be another anti Berry move, no?

I wonder what they will do with Page when he returns from injury and we draft Berry, SS?

Berry can play SS if they want him to. In fact not only can he play 5 positions on defense, but he has played 5 positions on defense. Versatility is key.

I thought this was an interesting tidbit from Michael Lombardi

Some teams are more interested in 2011 than 2010 in terms of free agency. The 2011 UFA class will be a very talented group, and if the cap returns, teams will have to have the room to participate. With the exception of a few players, this year’s group is not very talented….

LMAO And what? We should hold our breath for us to make a move next year? That must be Pioli's excuse.

If they draft right and a couple-three kids from the 2009 class pan out, 2011 might be a good year to spend in FA for the Chiefs.

I agree. But I don't see what would make me want to believe that we will spend much money in 2011, if we have a 2011 season. Lets hope.

Chiefs Showing "Serious" Interest In NT Shaun Smith
by Joel Thorman on Mar 6, 2010 9:14 PM CST

According to a league source, the Kansas City Chiefs are showing "serious" interest in free agent Shaun Smith, the 28 year old defensive tackle most recently of the Bengals.

Smith comes with experience in the 3-4 defense and a familiarity with a couple of key members of the Chiefs.

In 2003, Bill Parcells signed him as an undrafted free agent. He lasted a year in Dallas crossing paths with Todd Haley for just a short period of time. In 2007, he was signed by the Cleveland Browns who were coached at the time by -- you guessed it -- Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

We're told the interest in Smith is due in large part to the presence of Crennel. The Chiefs worked Smith out back in October without signing him to a contract.

Smith is listed at 6'2" and over 320 pounds, which is good size for a 3-4 nose tackle.

Our source believes a deal is on the horizon but we've yet to confirm. Smith's agent had not responded to our email request as of this posting.
