They may never get better. If you have to treat every packet the same, everything boils down to the lowest common denominator.

No, they're not

Good news for you and others is your comments are so vague and without substance that you won't be held accountable for them later when dire things don't come of it.

Kudos for everyone not jumping the shark and keeping the thread in the lounge

I haven't followed the thread for awhile, but it's impressive

You should have stepped aside and left this topic in DC.

Why? It concerns everyone on Chiefsplanet, and Chiefsplanet itself.

Google Fiber happens.

TWC starts offering Fiber customers 100mbps service at the same cost as their normal shitty service (that I'm pretty sure didn't even exist a couple years ago) and now has 50mbps and 100mbps available to just about anyone.

AT&T comes out with gigabit service.

tl;dr -- Competition happened.

Basically the only things moving this country into the future are Google and Elon Musk.

Maybe those people cheering will smarten up and figure it out. In the meantime, maybe the courts will strike down this FCC power grab on the issue, as they did the last time. One can always hope.

Please explain the effect this will have...

It has been one year since net neutrality.

Big ISPs like Comcast, Att, Verizon are still involved in litigation and are awaiting a Court of Appeals ruling.

The fight is not over yet.

I haven't noticed that anything has changed.

suzzer99 02-27-2016 03:59 PM

You won't either way. If net neutrality is shot down, you'll never know which Netflix competitor or other high-bandwidth startups could never get off the ground due to throttling. The already established major streaming players will actually benefit by making exclusivity deals with ISPs.

This is a nice unexpected surprise.
