More fans showing no appreciation to the QB that stabilized this franchise.

Patty has no idea what he's getting himself into.

You can appreciate Alex but also understand it is time to move on. He is never going to win the big game.It is time recoup some $$ and picks and build the team around the young guy with an AK 47 for an arm and the eye of the tiger!

Patrick just has Intangibles that Alex will never have.

Alex and the Chiefs had their time together but now we have to move on.

Smith knows how to play 3rd and long.

He has NO reason to come back to KC. It makes no sense.

Someone will pay reerun money to make their team a respectable playoff contender and he'll do that immediately...

Stabilized? Into what? A regular season juggernaut that pees down its leg in the playoffs? If thats stable, Im not sure I want any. I’ve eaten that dish before and I’m sending it back. Tell the cook I want something different...ANYTHING different.

Maybe Dorsey will do it again.

LMAO

I see Alex moving West back into the NFC with Arizona. Chiefs will get a 3rd or 4th rounder while restructuring and eating a good portion of Alex's salary. Because that is the Chiefs way.

Tigger's not wrong- for once.

Smith is exactly what KC needed at the time. A steady, older player at QB who was somewhat(relative to Cassel, Quinn, Palko, Huard, Thigpen, Croyle, any Chiefs QB since Green) proven as a starter to go along with a coach who has proven consistently to have competitive teams as well as make the POs.

Reid and Smith were perfect for what the Chiefs needed in 2013, coming off of one of the worst seasons in history. Smith's replacement has been drafted and it's time to move on. He had his day in the sun and fulfilled the prophecy of delivering a PO win to KC. Now it's time for Mahomes to fulfill a new prophecy to KC- a 2nd SB ring.

Which is better than what his predecessors were.

I guess Chiefs fans better hope Minnesota stinks it up next week , Pitt loses (and Ben retires) or JAX falls flat today so that it increases the # of suitors

How many hits has he taken over the years? So why is it the other players seem to make it to the injury list and he keeps trucking along.

It's amazing that Smith isn't viewed in the same light as Green.

Smith has played in more PO games than Green.
Smith has more PO wins than Green.
Smith has no losing seasons as QB.

Why isn't he held in the same or higher regard as Green?

No. Retreads aren't what they needed. Until the last draft this franchise was afraid to draft and develop a QB like most successful and SB winning teams do for close to 3 decades. Instead always going for someone else's scraps.

And the end results have shown the true fruit of those efforts.

At the time, Smith was perfect for what the Chiefs needed.

He brought them to the POs after his first season.

EJ Manuel was the first QB drafted in 2013, for reference.

The fanbase would not have accepted a rebuild and you know that. There were and are talented pieces remaining from the previous two regimes from when Reid and Dorsey were hired. Pioli ****ed everything up by promoting Crennel as his lap dog and not upgrading over Cassel when it became apparent that Cassel was not starter quality. Haley COULD have had a much longer tenure in KC if his relationship with Pioli wasn't so bad.

I don't understand the hate for Smith, watch him end up a Donko and eat the Chiefs lunch next year
