So using that standard this year it would be:

Alabama

Cincinnati
Baylor

Does that sound good to you?

More interesting than what we got. Also they are more deserving as conference champs.

The problem is your comparing pro sports with rules, draft slots, salary cap, common schedule, 2 conferences to CFB = the wild wild west and 11 different conferences.

As I said before if we would have stuck with the BCS the championship game would be Alabama-Georgia. The same thing happened back in 2012 or 2013 with Alabama - LSU.

Yes. And I hated it back then too. In a league where you can’t compare teams with different schedules or head to heads, the conference championship is the one thing that’s actually absolute. That bama was the better team than Georgia. If you want extra playoff games and this becomes a semifinal game, great. I don’t understand the sports rationale. We’ve watched a lot of shitburger nba finals with a substantially better nba west. I’d still rather that then suggesting conferences and divisions no longer matter.

I think the national championship will be a great game. Looking forward to it.

Seems a very simple solution that losers of conference championships shouldn’t advance.

Why? Georgia is better than literally everyone else not named Bama, and they might be better than them. Why in the world should they be excluded?

I guess Georgia could simply decline the invite for the Conference Championship?

If you wish to ensure a Bama title, that's how you do it.

Might be better? Bama beat the crap out of them with ease just a few week ago.

It’s a simple fix….

8 teams

P5 conference winners. Seeded based on top 25 rank.

3 at large bids. Seeded 6-8 based on top 25 rank

Power 5 champs get first round home play off game.

Then off to bowls for the rest.

It’s not rocket surgery. But anything beats the dogshit we have now. BCS was much better than this current format.

For a long time I have advocated for D1 to follow the D2 playoff model. Not sure why that hasn't happened.

The BCS model was to get the 2 best teams regardless of conference standings. Back then several conferences including the B10 didn't have a conference final game while others did. You also have teams like Notre Dame that aren't in a conference, and they are currently ranked higher than Baylor. Is that fair to put Notre Dame in but not Georgia? Don't think so.

The bowls have a lot of money and many are owned by ESPN.

A change could happen-but we may end up with the same result. Bama vs another SEC team

FCS almost had NDSU and South Dakota State in the NC game.

There was a point where almost every playoff team in the nba west was better than almost every team in the nba east. Why do people think the best two teams need to play in the championship? Do you think the Red Sox and Yankees in the 90s or the cowboys and 49ers in the 80s should have played each other in the super bowl? Or the patriots colts in the 2000s? No. Because that’s not how sports playoffs work and for good reason. No one ever complained that the 2nd best team year after year wasn’t making the championship game.

There needs to be an expanded playoff. And ideally two conference teams always end up in the same bracket with the conference loser as a wild card. Georgia deserves to be in a playoff. But let’s stop putting inner conference games in the championship.
