Let me know if you want me to not draft the rest of the Titan's o-line. :thumb:

It was my fault completely I had narrowed it down to 5 guys at 3 positions and was going to take my spreadsheet and figure out who would be the pick at work. I forgot to email my spreadsheet and figured I didn't have the time to completely mess around with it. Since It was late when I decided I couldn't remember all the 5 guys. It's all good though, I personally think I have the best duo of bookend tackles, and there are still plenty of good LB's out there.

I think they are the best at what they do. They are both young and don't give up sacks. People seem to forget about Roos when they talk about top LT's and Stewart is a beast. I'm not too big a fan of the rest of their O-Line so go ahead.

I love Hester's versatility and gives you options. His returning guarantees you good field position almost every time. If he can develop into a solid #2 or slot receiver, I'll be glad to have him on my team.

Very true... CHI just needs a lead WR to step up. Hester has value, but not a lot just yet from a consistency point of view. I think Olsen could be a beast with Cutler.

They have a lot of 'upside' at WR right now, but nothing very proven... which is why I figured they would have made a run at a Harrison, Holt or someone like that, proven veteran guy that wants a shot at a ring that could help build up the young WRs.

Hell, they just paid a nice price for Cutler... have a nice defense, solid ground game... decent schedule with nice matchups.

The Franchise 06-11-2009 01:38 PM

I'm hoping Hester does awesome just for Cutler's sake.

When does Sully's time run out for me to make my pick? It's weird, he's another one who has been online a lot and hasn't made picks even though I've PM'd him a couple times.

Sully has until about 11pm or so tonight to make that pick, as well as the one from the previous round...

Did Rainman comment on what we do if someone is 2 picks behind and is on the clock again? I would like to think that we just pass them that third time rather than waiting again.

Mile High Mania 06-11-2009 01:53 PM

Just for giggles... round 11 is upon us, and that means we have 23 rounds remaining.

If anyone is interested in trading OUT of Round 11, let me know, I'd be interested in trading into that round. Not interested in giving up 3 for 2 or 2 for 1... would have to be an even swap of players and/or picks.

I *might* trade out of R12 for picks... has to be a good offer.

I have the following 25 picks in the final 23 rounds:

If you're talking about hootie, he pm'ed me and said he was behind on some real-life stuff and would catch up ASAP. However, I may bring in a guest picker to keep him no more than two picks behind, since I'd hate to seem him lose too many picks.

doomy3 06-11-2009 10:42 PM

I was absolutely THRILLED that Jared Gaither was there with this pick. This guy is an absolute freak of nature, 6'9", 340 lbs, with VERY quick feet.

Started at LT last year and only gave up 3 sacks in 16 games. Also anchored a Ravens line that rushed for 2,376 yards and a franchise *record 20 TDs.

Oh yeah, he JUST turned 23 years old.

Yeah, I'll take a very good, up and coming LT in the 11th round, thank you.

I wasn't on earlier when you posted... the defense is the scary piece of your team right now. As we discussed earlier, lots of upside with your QB and you have two young studs at RB and TE. Bryant is a bit unsure to me as a #1 with their new look offense, but he has a couple of years left in him.

Chris Johnson is your spark plug for the offense...

Thanks mile I told my brother my team and he said that D is dangerous so far no one is gonna be able to run on that D.

We were talking bout strategies mine is a strong LB core makes a strong D

I may have to be a grind it out O not sure yet but WR pickings are looking pretty slim

Yeah, so far I like my defensive line... not sure if I am going to end up 3-4 or 4-3 or some hybrid, I have options right now. And, per my comments with Rainman when I took over the drafting/building of this team... once it is complete, I'll basically let another owner take over going forward. I won't have the time to focus on this going forward, so I'm going to build a behemoth and let someone else reap the rewards.

Awesome ****ing pick. I realized he was there a round after I grabbed Gross. Had I known he was going to make it to the 11th round.....I would have grabbed him in the 10th. Chock this up as another pick I kind of wasted. :cuss:

That is a great pick. For some reason, I thought he was gone already or I would have taken him before Stewart last round and either done some kind of trade or had him as a RT.

I have to make the most of mine since my buddy made that trade and I was unable to get back the picks I traded away. I feel like I'm way behind the eight ball and essentially two picks behind, but it is what it is.

You can make some up in the rookie draft though...There will be really good players available there.

The dude only picked up a first for a 8th and a 12th (and a 3rd in teh rookie draft), there's definitely talent to be had, but not enough that I can be careless right now.

Wow... he gave up your R8, R12 and rookie R3 for only a Rookie R1?

You should kick that guy in the nuts.

Well, technically he got a 18th or 20th (hell I don't remember which) and a 33rd too, but yeah, I thanked him.
I tried to fix it after the fact, but to no avail. I'm just trying to make the best of it and see what I can do. I like my team OK, but it should be better.

Tried to fix what? If by fix you mean sending me a PM saying that the guy wasn't you....and that was it?

Because you sure as hell didn't say you wanted to take it back or anything of that nature.

The hell I didn't. I sent a PM asking that you give me your 9th (since you had already made the 8th) and we swap the rest back (essentially you would have gotten my 8th for your 9th) and it went unanswered.

I don't blame you AT ALL, but you're a liar.

I just looked and I deleted the PM from you....but I remember that there was no where in there that you stated about me giving you my 9th round pick and switching back.

So you....can straight **** off. I've seriously had it with your ****ing bitching through out this entire thread. WAHHHHHH they changed the order of the rookie draft. WAHHHHHHH

Old Dog 06-12-2009 03:19 PM

LOL,. Like I said, I don't blame you a bit....I might not have done it either (probably would have, but not 100% certain). It was my own fault for giving the guy my password and I never said otherwise. I could resend the PM, but inasmuch as they don't have time stamps, it wouldn't do any good. You're a liar and we both know it pure and simple.

The rookie thing, I STILL think is BS, but that's another issue completely and has nothing to do with this. I made my case with it and was shot down.

Rain Man 06-12-2009 03:22 PM

Well, truebigdog, you'll be glad to know that I made the call to do a new random draw on the "remainder round" to complete everyone's rosters. So you won the day on that call, because otherwise I would've just made it Round 34.

The bad news for you is the position you drew. But hey, it could be worse.

Well, not really. But for the rest of us it could've been worse.

Old Dog 06-12-2009 03:24 PM

Good call (IMO) on the random order for the remainder round. It didn't benifit me, but them's the breaks. That's why it's random.

Rain Man 06-12-2009 03:27 PM

In retrospect, I should've made the remainder round one round of offense and K, and one round of defense and P going in the opposite order. Didn't think of that before the draw was made.

Old Dog 06-12-2009 03:30 PM

We don't have to have the K and P filled in teh regular draft?

I think you could choose to do that, but you could also choose to fill them in the remainder round. The bottom line is that you'll add all of the remainder round guys to your "training camp", add the rookie draftees, and then cut to 53 before opening day.

I had actually been assuming that we needed a K and P in the first 33, but as I typed the previous post it occurred to me that you don't have to as long as you can fill both slots in the remainder round.

I like the remainder round concept because it'll be interesting to see the strategies. There may be some teams with a few good players available, other teams with simply a lot of depth across more positions, some teams that may have promising rookies or free agents, and probably other combinations. Maybe a team with no K and P would pick their remainder round team specifically on those players. It'll be interesting to see how that round goes.

No, I think that would be something different that would happen in subsequent years, with the free agent draft. This would be a one-time event in Year 1, so I think we would do this:

33 veteran rounds
1 remainder round
7 rookie rounds
Cut to 53 at the end of training camp.

Does that sound reasonable? I think that makes the most sense, and it gives people an opportunity to "discover" breakout rookies in training camp.

Maybe it's only me, but I'm lost....33+1+7 = 41
What the hell am I missing?

bdeg 06-12-2009 03:48 PM

what about doing the remainder draft after the rookie draft and having it go for as many rounds as people need to complete the roster?--nevermind you've answered that question

and are we officially ditching the whole scrubs thing in favor of full rosters? im cool with that

The one remainder round has you drafting an ENTIRE TEAM minus the players that were drafted from that team.

The remainder round will have you get all of a team's players who weren't drafted in the first 33 rounds. So for example, if you take the Patriots in the remainder round, you'll get all of the Patriots except Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, Richard Seymour, etc. - the guys who are already taken by other owners. If you draft the Chiefs in the remainder round, you'll get...well, most of them. So realistically, it'll be something like 33+40 (camp fodder, journeymen, etc.) +7, which you'll then cut to 53.

We could do that, and that'd be ideal, but I'd worry a little about timing. That'd be a lot more rounds, and then it'd start interfering with training camp and injuries and stuff.

I think the scrubs thing would still kick in if you completely run out of players at a position. For example, if you keep 3 QBs on your 53-man roster and they all three get hurt by week 6, you're going to start 10 weeks of scrubs.

Here's a clarification/discussion point for people. Let's say we're done drafting and training camp starts, and some significant guy on your team goes down with a knee in training camp. For the sake of this discussion, assume it's my team and Mario Williams. My assumption is that I can cut Mario and keep 53 players who will actually play (using someone from my remainder round), or I can keep him and know that he's going to take up a roster spot for the year. For ease of administration, I don't want to mess with having an injured reserve or anything, so I think you either have someone on your 53 or you cut them and lose rights to them - nothing in between. Everyone okay with this?

So for example, if you take the Patriots in the remainder round, you'll get all of the Patriots except Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, Richard Seymour, etc. - the guys who are already taken by other owners. If you draft the Chiefs in the remainder round, you'll get...well, most of them. So realistically, it'll be something like 33+40 (camp fodder, journeymen, etc.) +7, which you'll then cut to 53.

I really need to re-read the rules on this draft... total news to me, and the K/P thing... new as well. Wasn't totally understanding the "remainder round".

Everyone okay with this?

that sounds good to me

and i think updating the op with the rules would help end the confusion

Yeah, we're still kind of breaking ground on some of these things. The remainder round concept showed up somewhere around Post 500 and seemed to be a better system to stack atop the "scrubs" system.

I didn't think about the K/P strategy until just now. You can certainly draft a K and/or P, though. Personally, I'm not sure I'd base my remainder round pick solely upon getting a K or P, but others may prefer that strategy.

That's a really good idea. Maybe I'll do that.

I think it's going to be very intriguing to hear people's logic about their picks. There are going to be a lot of competing theories about the best way to go.

So, in the remainder round... I could select the Jaguars...

Then, thin out the roster later when it is cut time, just keeping those OL or DL, whatever I want from the Jags, right?

That's just a "catch up" at all positions and I can keep what I want.

Is the remainder round AFTER the rookie draft?
