It seems like a better way to do it would be to count how many total draft points you got in the draft on the famous Jimmy Johnson trade value chart, compared to how many draft points you had in picks. That way, getting a steal on a 1st round pick would be worth more points than getting a steal on a 7th round pick. Edit: As I think about it, though, maybe that's not better. You would basically win or lose depending on the where the first-rounders go. |

Thanks Ash. Definitely liking my Panthers draft more than my Buccs. Could have killed Tampa Bay's draft had I just taken Marcus Williams in the third. Still don't know what I was thinking there, as much as I like Taylor.

Broncos 2017 Mock:
1.20) Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin 2.51) Sidney Jones, CB - Washington 3.82) Jaleel Johnson, NT - Iowa 3.101) Derek Rivers, DE/OLB - Youngstown State 4.126) Alex Anzalone, LB - Florida 5.177) Chad Wheeler, OT - USC 6.203) Jamaal Williams, RB - BYU 7.238) Darrell Daniels, TE - Washington 7.252) Zach Pascal, WR - ODU 7.253) Jayon Brown, LB - UCLA This draft is utter shite. Stupid decisions abound: 1 - Not taking David Njoku with my 1st rounder. That would've just been a HR pick there. 2 - Sidney Jones - should've gone Jarrad Davis or Joe Mixon; too early for an injured CB in a draft this deep at the position. Just hadn't realized how deep CB was yet. 3 - Alex Anzalone - reach for need in the 4th with his shoulder issues; should've gone with Kittle here or Julie'n Davenport. With Njoku in the fold instead of Ramzcyk, Davenport is the likely pick here. 4 - Wheeler instead of Gibson. Things I did well for Denver - just the 3rd round. Johnson and Rivers are larceny in the 3rd. It won't be enough to make up for the rest of that draft being nothing but wheel spinning and need picks, but I'm extremely happy with those 2 picks anyway. So what my draft SHOULD have been: 1 - Njoku 2 - J. Davis 3 - Johnson 3 - Rivers 4 - Davenport 5 - Gibson 6 - Sharpe (need the OL depth without Ramczyk and Wheeler) 7 - Pumphrey (3rd down back without Williams) 7 - Pascal 7 - Brown And that's not even a 'knowing what I know' draft; those are guys that I knew I liked in real time and wouldn't get another shot at. I didn't stretch it at all. Just really let need dictate way too much in the 1st and didn't give enough credence to Jones injury and the Broncos currently strong defensive backfield. Just a pretty poor job by me here. I dicked up my first two picks and it set the tone for bad picks in the 4th and 5th as well. Just snowballed on me, really. |
Great job everyone. Another successful CP mock.

6. New York Jets - Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
39. New York Jets - Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee 70. New York Jets - Nate Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh 107. New York Jets - Jake Butt, TE, Michigan 150. New York Jets - Isaac Rochell, DL, Notre Dame 191. New York Jets - Grover Stewart, NT, Albany State 224. New York Jets - De'Von Smith, RB, Michigan 29. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - TJ Watt, DE/OLB, Wisconsin 61. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida 93. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Kareem Hunt, RB, Toled 134. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU 172. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Samson Ebukam,OLB, Eastern Washington 182. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - David Jones, S, Richmond 212. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Jadar Johnson, S, Clemson 247. Green Bay - BigMeatballBillay - Cethan Carter, TE, Nebraska Love my Jets draft though I should have went CB round 3 instead of Peterman but I still think he can stabilize their QB position. Hate my Packers middle round picks but got them 3 starters and a couple lottery tickets with the later round picks. |
Where they are actually drafted shouldn't really matter it should be what they do and their impact the next year.
Maybe the guy isn't well known but performs at the highest level |

I had a shot at a record-breaking draft that year but Chase Minnifield, who I took in the 2nd, went !@#$ing undrafted and murdered me. My Lions draft ended up 'negative' in overall points that year but I got 4 really good players for them and a couple other decent ones: Olivier Vernon - DE Trumaine Johnson - CB Nigel Bradham - LB Mike Adams - OT Josh LeRibeus - C 2 franchise caliber players at DE and CB, another damn good starting ILB, a starting RT and a starting C. But my draft 'score' was pretty poor. Yeah, I've always tracked both but you can do those at different times of year so it's kinda interesting to keep an eye on. |
That's a damn good pick, Wow! My worst was probably that corner from Oregon. Efe something
|
I picked telvin Smith in the 4th round of the 2014 draft
|
Quote:
I completely forgot how badly I smoked that round that year. I thought I'd grabbed Vernon in the 5th and didn't remember the LeRibeus thing at all. |
Good job running it this year guys. Pest and snr, thanks and **** off.

Staylor with the kick to the dick.
His first rounder knocked a chick unconscious. 5th round at best now, IMO. |

I have no response to that. |
Nailed the Chiefs pick.
|
My Browns picks have worked out well so far. The #1 and #2 picks overall.
|
Got 17 points for Mahomes and I'm not sure if we add a bonus for nailing the pick for the team that drafted him or not...
I took Adoree Jackson in the 43rd pick for Philly and he just went 18th overall to the Titans...+25 Nice start. |
Quote:
Dalvin Cook is still on the board and Adoree Jackson just went 18th. |
My Saints draft looks fantastic so far
Ross, McKinley, and Conley. 3 first round talents that all went earlier than I got them. As GM, I'm a little nervous about McKinley after that interview though LMAO |
Whoever drafts for the Chiefs next year is probably super ****ing pissed right now.
|
Two of my 2nd rounders have been drafted already. One of my first rounders hasn't been.
|
Both of my first rounders were picked before my selections so I earned some points on those. Now for the rest of the draft....

Oh well. |
Cleveland's draft breakout:
01. Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M - #1 pick (0 points) 12. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, UNC - #2 pick (+11 points) 33. Budda Baker, FS, Washington - #36 pick (-3 points) 52. William Likely, CB, Maryland - Undrafted (-69 points) 188. Travis Rudolph, WR, Florida State - Undrafted (-66 points) -182 points total, but it was mostly three late-round picks who went undrafted. Eliminate them and it's a +32. My first five rounds went about as predicted. |
Here are New England's picks. We didn't have any high picks.
72. New England - Rain Man, S Josh Jones - #61 (+11 points) 96. New England - Rain Man, Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington - #69 (+27 points) 131. New England - Rain Man - Ifeadi Odenigbo, DE, Northwestern - #220 (-37 points) 200. New England (from Indianapolis) - Rain Man - Cole Hikutini, TE, Louisville - Undrafted - (-54 points) 239. New England (from Detroit) - Rain Man - Lorenzo Jerome, S, St. Francis - Undrafted (-15 points) Overall, a score of -113 points, but again, it was my late rounders who cost me. My first three picks were +64. We'll be fine, and if not, we'll cheat. |
I did absolutey terrible, probably the worst one out of everybody

I love reading the CP Mock Draft every year. But from an outsider's perspective, I think you guys are scoring this wrong. Having huge misses - either positive or negative - shows you don't really know how the NFL sees these guys. Huge negative scores mean you reached really bad but huge positive misses means that you and everyone else had no idea that the teams liked that guy as much as they did.
It seems to me that you want your score to be as close to zero as possible (without large offsetting misses). Marco Polo's Cowboys draft is a good example of what I see as a good mock. None of his guys are more than a round off from where they actually went. Just a thought. |
Well yeah but that's just like your opinion man. You can have an absolutely embarrassing one lime I had
|
Mahomes was a +17
Williams was a +49 Douglas was a +5 Vanderdoes is a +44 -19 for Tim Williams Mack Hollins was a +62 Joe Williams was a +95 Blair Brown was a +22 Cooper and Rehnkow didn't get picked Rehnkow cost me -9 Cooper was a -36 Overall, my Chiefs draft was a +230 Bossreach, indeed. |
I'm probably about -800 or so on each team. I'll get around to checking here in a moment.

Assuming UDFA valued at 254.
Chargers Draft: -48 1.007 - Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama (R1.31 SF) -24 2.038 - Obi Melifonwu, FS, Connecticut (R2.056 OAK) -18 3.071 - Dion Dawkins, OT/G, Temple (R2.063 BUF) +8 4.113 - Shaquill Griffin, CB, Central Florida (R3.090 SEA) +23 5.151 - Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois (R3.096 DET) +55 6.190 - Hunter Dimick, DE, Utah (UDFA) -64 7.225 - Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss (R7.253 DEN) -28 Seahawks Draft: +1 1.026 - Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA (R3.081 WAS) -55 2.058 - Antonio Garcia, LT, Troy (R3.085 NE) -27 3.090 - Tyus Bowser, DE/OLB, Houston (R2.047 BAL) +43 3.102 - Larry Ogunjobi, DT, Charlotte (R3.065 CLE) +37 3.106 - Will Holden, RT, Vanderbilt (R5.157 ARZ) -51 6.210 - Josh Malone, WR, Tennessee (R4.128 CIN) +82 7.226 - Damarius Travis, SS, Minnesota (UDFA) -28 Taking Dimick really slaughtered my Chargers draft and Moreau injuring his pec dropping him from R1 consideration hurt pretty bad. Other than that, I suppose I did okay. |
Wow boss that's fantastic. Great job
|
Here's the Eagles actual daft...
1. (14) Derek Barnett, de, Tennessee 2. (43) Sidney Jones, cb, Washington 3. (99) Rasul Douglas, cb, West Virginia 4. (118) Mack Hollins, wr, North Carolina 4. (132) Donnel Pumphrey, rb, San Diego State 5. (166) Shelton Gibson, wr, West Virginia 5. (184) Nate Gerry, s, Nebraska 6. (214) Elijah Qualls, dt, Washington Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt...#storylink=cpy ... Crazy that I drafted Douglas and Hollins for KC and drafted Gerry for Phili.... I selected at least 1 player from each team that their real team actually drafted. I think I've done that every year I've been in this mock. ... |
14 Dalvin Cook went at 41....-27
43 Adoree Jackson went at 18....+25 74 Chris Wormley went at the 74 slot. Nailed the exact slot he was drafted. 118 Corn Elder went at 152....-34 139 Jermaine Eluemanor went at 159.....-20 155 Noah Brown went at 239....-84 194 Nathan Gerry went at 184....+10 230 Chase Roullier went at 199...+31 Overall, I think I'm at a -99 with the Eagles...but I'm happy with that. I nailed the draft slot for Wormley and drafted them a player they took in the real draft in Gerry. Getting a first round corner like Jackson in the second was nice and Cook is a game breaker. Also, every guy I drafted for the Eagles got drafted in the real draft. Overall, between both drafts, I'm at +131 (if I did my math right, I quick added it up in my head.) My best pick was Joe Williams that got me a +95 Other notable selections were nailing KCs first rounder, Nathan Gerry to Philly and Wormley taken at his actual draft slot. My worst pick was Noah Brown at a -84. Thanks again for letting me participate. Did anybody score higher for one of their teams than KCs +230? Or combined +131? |
While my numbers / score were not good, I did a pretty good job of positional picking.
The Buccs started off with seven picks but ended up drafting six players. All six positions they drafted, I drafted for them as well. Also, I drafted the same positions for the first five rounds as the Panthers actually drafted with those picks, including getting Daeshon Hall in the third, a running back at 8, and a tackle at 64. |
Quote:
But other than that, I pretty much aced this one; no terrible misses and 7 picks that went ahead of where I got them to 3 that went behind. I'll take that any day. |
