I'm not as excited about Heupel as I would have been about, say, Seth Littrell, but he was successful at OU in a co-coordinator situation and got scapegoated for a shitty defense last year.

He's young, he's been successful developing QBs, he's called plays for successful offenses, and he has good credibility in Oklahoma and Texas.

It's not the absolute home run that Cross is, but it's a solid gapper.
