Carpenter has played some 3rd. Not sure if he has the body type to stand up to the pounding everyday. That would be a good way to get more young talent into the lineup but would lack power at a position that normally calls for it.

Obviously it goes against the "normal" at 3B. But, what is a better line up?

Carpenter 3B
Wong 2B
Taveras CF
Craig RF
Molina C
Adams 1B
Holliday LF
SS
P

Or

Carpenter 2B
Jay OF
the rest of the current lineup

The current lineup is pretty good, but inconsistent. Getting rid of Freese would help. But is Carpenter is going to be injured as much as Freese is and develops inconsistency that is not there now...

That's going to be a tough call. I would suppose it depends on how Wong is developing. I don't see Jay here after this year. I could see them dealing Wong and adding to that consistency by putting Tavaras in center.

I'm not sure if thats your specific lineup, but if it is I don't think Wong fits in the 2 hole.

I think it would more likely be

Carpenter
Tavares
Holliday
Craig
Molina
Adams
Wong
SS
P

Freese out at 3rd trying to stretch a double, makes the first out of the inning at 3rd. Damn.

But hooray, he hit it hard going the other way .

Stay classy, San Diego.

Mujica tried to blow it today. Two take the lead hits to the warning track.:banghead:

Good win but Mujica scares me now.

Let's just hope he's a bit rusty from the break and will get over it.

The one that really scares me is Lynn.

I've been worried about Lynn for a while now.

His success is entirely dependent on his fastball command. When he doesn't have it, he doesn't have a plan B.

It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. Better pitchers than him have had long, productive careers working off their fastball. Lynn can do it as well, but he's going to have stretches like this where he loses the feel for his fastball and gets hit around.

Miller's the same way right now, but he's going to eventually have a plus curveball that will be able to bail him out when he's not feeling the fastball. Lynn's not likely to get there.

He is what he is; he's a good #3 starter that's never going to be an ace. He's a guy where you're going to have to deal with the fact that his aggregate stats at the end of his season will be very good, but it's going to be a rocky road getting there.

Maybe you guys could trade for Jim Johnson.

Not sure you'd have enough to get him though.
