They just took the 2 most volatile positions there are.. extreme risk for a bas system...this front office really thinks they have job security.

That and they must think they're gonna be bad for aomg time and none of these current guys are worth a shit.

All the Twitter MLB draft guys like the pick but Mecca doesn't. Shocker.

Its the MLB draft odds are never that good.

Also if Blake Mitchell gets a MLB hit.. he'll be the first, 1st round prep catcher to do so since Joe Mauer.

Prep catcher and prep RHP fail at THE HIGHEST RATE of all positions.

Bro, really?

The royals haven't drafted well in a decade. The major league team literally sucks donkey dick. The teams that draft and develop really well, don't draft this way.

The Royals have done NOTHING to earn the benefit of the doubt at all, have they? They haven't remotely shown they know what they're doing.

Is there upside sure, are the Royals likely to turn extreme risk into anything? No based on history they aren't.

But these 2 specifically are among the lowest if not lowest chances of working out. They blew a top 10 pick on a guy that will never play catcher above high A and a pitcher that will never make it out of High A. Just proves JJ and the other idiots in the front office have 10 years to keep drafting.

Furthermore those draft guys don't pay attention to the Royals and their inability to develop anyone.

Mecca 07-09-2023 09:09 PM

You can take those risks when you have a good system and have shown you are capable..the Royals haven't done that.

If anything they've shown they'll get nothing out of these guys because their development sucks.

When you're a bottom tier farm system you need solid picks to rebuild the thing.

Blake Wolters is...fine. One of the better players left on the board, but he's also a high school pitcher. I mean I don't mind this kid. I like that he's a power pitcher and reports are that he sits at 94-96 and can throw it as high as 98-99. It's not absurd to think that he can throw even harder as his body fills out. I like this a lot more than drafting soft throwing pussies.
