Although, I will say that I will probably be peeing out of my ass for the next 3 hours.

I don't digest plants very well.

I don't keep track of calories as a rule, but I ran today's numbers just out of curiousity. Today was the first day I've really felt out of sorts - my stomach was a little iffy this morning and I felt tired and weak at the end of my walk after work - so I was curious in a general sense (I think the stomach is due to the diet adjustment, but I'm just tired because I'm tired...). Turns out I totaled about 1700 calories for the day, and about 1000 of that was after work ended four hours ago (chicken about 10 pm and then eggs/english muffins a few minutes ago). Been in that same general area all week, except for Monday, which I'm guessing was closer to 2500 calories.

In any case, I didn't realize just how drastic a reduction in calories my new regime was (I regularly eat single meals with more calories than I've been taking in in a day this week), or how few calories there really are in fruits and salad. I basically ate constantly while I was at work (@6 hours), but it didn't total 500 calories between the orange, berries and salad. So I may to spread some of those calories into the beginning and middle of the day. Because I seem feel best at this time of night, right after the time of day when I tend to eat the most.

Whatever I decide to do, this is a pretty severe change for me, and I'm curious to see what the results will be on the scale after a couple of months. I've sort of half-assed it in the past as far as diet goes, and this is the first time I've really made an effort to eat raw, unprocessed foods for any length of time. I like it so far, although I'm going to briefly hop off the healthy wagon tomorrow night, I have a feeling (going to see two movies - I smell popcorn in my future).

I understand that fruits and veggies have low calories and you can eat a ton of them and still have a low calorie intake. I'm no Silock, but I would try to mix in protein at breakfast and throughout the day. If nothing else, try to mix in a protein shake for the morning, and then a third cup cottage cheese in the after noon.

I think it would make you feel better.

You know, I heard somewhere that fat free stuff is usually just higher in carbs and sugars to make up for the lack of flavor... you may want to stay off that stuff.

:D

Really??? Does that mean I can skip recording everything I take in?? Measuring and recording sounds like a pretty big pain in the butt.

I gave up the Dr. Pepper's, and I gave up 90% of the sugar in my coffee, but I do not want to give up my coffee. :grr:

Silock, you are probably right.

Use Stevia instead of sugar. it is 0 calorie

I've encountered ass that tastes better than broccoli. Literally.

But, hey, it could be worse. It could be cauliflower.

Green Giant sells these:

I find I can pretty much eyeball things - 3 eggs, 240 calories, piece of bread, 100 calories, can of soup, 240 calories. Other people might need to be more meticulous.

If you think you can control yourself then yeah, skip it. But if you don't want to fast/no carb you'll probably have to start recording.

sparkpeople.com is a great site that makes it easy to record calorie intake and it will tell you how many calories you should be eating and how long the pounds will take to come off. plus the site is free. It also has a mobile app if you have a smart phone.

I feel like I got hit by a truck today with my DOMS.

RedNFeisty 05-06-2010 08:20 AM

Does just drinking water really make that big of a difference between ice tea or kool aid packets with no added sugar? I really hate plain water, I would almost rather drinking nothing.

Also, you guys have mentioned Steva (sp) does it taste like fake sugar? I would rather no sugar verses fake sugar.

if you ever are in a pinch and have to go frozen, whatever the case may be; go w/ the Bird's Eye brand, it's the closest to fresh you can buy.

I'll ask it, since nobody else will, any chances w/ this 'fasting' - one could subconsciously develop an eating disorder?

I think it's possible. It's definitely made me understand anorexics better (how the denial makes one feel in control, disciplined, powerful). Hell, I'll admit that I've also thought about purging (like a bulimic) after eating an obscene amount of food. And by "thought about," I don't mean seriously considered it... but just toyed with how easy it would be to do that. The whole fasting thing and calories in/calories burnt way of thinking has sort of changed the way I think about food and eating altogether.

I get Crystal Light.

I'm the same way. Unless I'm extremely thirsty, I seem to hardly drink anything at all.

I haven't felt that yet and I feel like i've been pushing myself pretty hard on the weights.

I feel a bit sore/stiff the day after but the 2nd day i'm lifting again.

I've lifted 3 days in a row this week and I feel fine. I won't lift again until Saturday so i'll see what happens.
