I understand that fruits and veggies have low calories and you can eat a ton of them and still have a low calorie intake. I'm no Silock, but I would try to mix in protein at breakfast and throughout the day. If nothing else, try to mix in a protein shake for the morning, and then a third cup cottage cheese in the after noon.
I think it would make you feel better.

I should probably have done a better job of clarifying this, but the low calorie thing was a coincidence, rather than a goal. I'm not calorie counting, and was somewhat surprised to discover how few I'd taken in, comparatively-speaking. Really just trying to eat things that are good for me, instead of living on fast food and junk food like I have for most of the first 36 years of my life.
You're basically suggesting what I was already thinking. I may try cottage cheese, although I have a long, storied history of buying it and then letting it rot in the fridge - for some reason I just won't eat the stuff, although I don't dislike it. Then again, of course, I did the same thing for years with salad, and I've now eaten 3 bags in a week, eating it every day without throwing away as much as a leaf (good on me!). So maybe it's time to give cottage cheese a try again.
Other than that, I think the most sensible thing for me to do would be to eat my scrambled eggs at the start of the day with my oatmeal rather than the end...
In any case, thanks for the advice.
