I'm the same way. Unless I'm extremely thirsty, I seem to hardly drink anything at all.

I forgot about Crystal Light! Thanks

Hell, I'll admit that I've also thought about purging (like a bulimic) after eating an obscene amount of food. And by "thought about," I don't mean seriously considered it... but just toyed with how easy it would be to do that. The whole fasting thing and calories in/calories burnt way of thinking has sort of changed the way I think about food and eating altogether.

I'm going to give it a whirl this Sunday. I'm going out to dinner with the wife Saturday night so it seemed like a good idea to try.

I've fasted before (Yom Kippur back in the day), but the difference was we always ate a huge meal to break the fast.

I learned not to bring up the fasting topic with anyone. They think I will die, or my muscles will be devoured, or my metabolism will get "screwed up". :D

Yeah. My wife and I don't even talk about it because she gets sick of hearing about it, and I don't really tell anyone else that I'm doing it. People have negative kneejerk reactions to it... especially since most people consider me to be "fit" already. Most people would scold me just for dieting with stuff like, "You're dieting? That's crazy. You need to gain weight." If I told them I was fasting, they'd probably start thinking I was anorexic. Most people on here have seen my pictures I posted in this thread, though, and I'm clearly not anorexic (though I will say that I think I've learned how to pose/flex better since those pictures to where my abs are more defined and less flabby).

You know, I heard somewhere that fat free stuff is usually just higher in carbs and sugars to make up for the lack of flavor... you may want to stay off that stuff.

:D

Usually it is. I made sure this stuff isn't :) It's 45 calories for 2 tbsp compared to 80 cals for 2 tbsp of the reduced fat. Now, yogurt on the other hand is the same calories per serving with reduced fat as it is with fat-free.

That was my original thought on fasting, but I am not a health major. All reports I have read said if you don't eat, once you start eating again you will gain your weight back and then some.

That's because people go back to eating how they always have or more.

Well, those silly people.

I understand that fruits and veggies have low calories and you can eat a ton of them and still have a low calorie intake. I'm no Silock, but I would try to mix in protein at breakfast and throughout the day. If nothing else, try to mix in a protein shake for the morning, and then a third cup cottage cheese in the after noon.

I think it would make you feel better.

I should probably have done a better job of clarifying this, but the low calorie thing was a coincidence, rather than a goal. I'm not calorie counting, and was somewhat surprised to discover how few I'd taken in, comparatively-speaking. Really just trying to eat things that are good for me, instead of living on fast food and junk food like I have for most of the first 36 years of my life.

You're basically suggesting what I was already thinking. I may try cottage cheese, although I have a long, storied history of buying it and then letting it rot in the fridge - for some reason I just won't eat the stuff, although I don't dislike it. Then again, of course, I did the same thing for years with salad, and I've now eaten 3 bags in a week, eating it every day without throwing away as much as a leaf (good on me!). So maybe it's time to give cottage cheese a try again.

Other than that, I think the most sensible thing for me to do would be to eat my scrambled eggs at the start of the day with my oatmeal rather than the end...

In any case, thanks for the advice.

Ummm... they're delicious?

Don't know what you want, I eat beans like a mad man. My wife is a vegetarian, so I probably cook and eat some variety of beans like 3 dinners a week. This week I've had: black beans, a black bean soup, lentils, and hummus. Some Saturdays and Sundays, I cook multiple pots of different kinds of beans to get us through the week. Yes, we fart a lot at our house.

I don't digest plants very well.

That's what I've been alluding to when I was talking about my stomach going on a revolt. Every time in the past when I've started eating salads, the immediate result has been that I could crap through a strainer. So I've been expecting that to begin all week. But not this time, so far.

And SR, lima-beans are much more appealing to me than broccoli. Although I can't remember the last time I actually had them.

I feel a bit sore/stiff the day after but the 2nd day i'm lifting again.

I've lifted 3 days in a row this week and I feel fine. I won't lift again until Saturday so i'll see what happens.

You are a lucky SOB. I'm having a hard time concentrating at work because my chest and upper arms hurt like a mofo.

Fairplay 05-06-2010 12:18 PM

My thighs, hamstings and calves are really sore. A great workout the other day squating, lunging, tearing up those calves like there is no tommorow.

My lkeg muscles feel like they want to burst out of my skin.

This is utterly meaningless, since weight fluctuates so much (AND I'm going to chow down on the worst possible movie food I can find tonight at Iron Man 2!) but I'm down 3 pounds since the first. Amazing how much difference a little effort in managing my diet can make.

Cement 'Thursday' as your cheat-day, then.
