I would like to think Veach and the gang work the phones a little better than what Allbright is alluding to. In a situation like this, I'd like to think they went to multiple teams and said what they think they can get from LA and asked if they wanted a chance to top it.

It's very possible the locker room is divided over it, so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

Nah, that’s hyperbole. Terez said that some guys were upset. Had another KC locker room reporter (Matt Derrick) say yesterday that some guys saw it as a very necessary move.

Well, Maas never said he knows the actual compensation. He only said that he was told that people would be very pleased.

Very pleased is a strong description. Even getting the Rams 1st this year, which doesn't appear to be in the cards, would be lukewarm. As it stands, with the rumors, the best pick the Chiefs are looking at is a 2018 3rd. Unless a player is involved, which it doesn't sound like there is, it's a deal worthy of a middle finger.

So wait if there is zero interest in trading for Marcus Peters from the rest of the league, then why would they be worried about someone else beating their offer?

:hmmm:

Because they have a great bargain in hand, and dont want anyone else paying slightly more for the same bargain?

That’s completely dependent on your outlook.

Once you take a step back and realize that the Chiefs were moving on from this guy whether they got a single measly draft pick or not, you realize that the compensation simply is what it is.

Peters burned his bridges and wasn’t playing here anymore.

Is that really worth it, after making a deal? Nope.

There is literally no one at One Arrowhead Drive that has any association with Bill Maas.

"Oh, I know what it is, I just can't tell you!".

Again, I don't buy it.

I was more or less talking about his ties to other former players that could have ties to Arrowhead. I’m just spitballing here and trying to figure this situation out. Maybe the league got pissed KC leaked the Smith deal before the super bowl and wanted this tight lipped? But why leak it to Schefter that the deal is done? We know the Rams are getting Peters, so why can’t we know what KC getting in return?

KChiefs1 02-24-2018 07:39 PM

I bet a 2019 draft pick is involved too.

I’m personally hoping for a player that Veach wants + 3rd round pick + a 2019 1st round pick.

staylor26 02-24-2018 07:39 PM

The sad thing is, at this point I’d just be happy with a 2018 3rd being included.

With 4 picks on day 2, we could really do some damage in a class where the strength will be in those rounds.

Red Dawg 02-24-2018 07:42 PM

I like picks as much as the next guy buy for this crap show Peters created I want a player off their defense. They have a ton and can't pay them all. Brett must be working on that.

The teams aren’t announcing it. The leaks are. Shit, even the NFL on twitter tweets about it. The Rams tweet out a trolling pic about Peters flying to LA on March 14. I get not wanting FAs to be tampered with, but these trades need to be announced. These deals are the worst kept secret in the league. It’s just silly overall to me

I'm in.

I don’t think there’s any way there is a 1st or a player involved.

They probably end up with a 3+5 this year and a 2 next season.

I'd be amazed if they get a 1.
