It's also the reason why NFL games, and any games that are streamed, are approximately 30 seconds behind Over-The-Air and satellite broadcasts.

480, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and in some cases, 4K broadcasts, are sent simultaneously, causing the latecny.

Well I didn't want to get into a technical dissertation. :) There could also be differences depending on whether you're watching on ABC on their antenna, to having cable, to having a streaming service like Sling. Just the process of getting the signal from ESPN to the viewer at home.
