His knowledge of the game, ability to improvise (which Andy is fine with), and ability to find holes in a defense have made him one of the best to ever do it. That’s why he’s such a matchup nightmare. The most common phrase you hear about him from other fans is “Why is he always open”? It’s not like he’s forgotten about by the defense. I am genuinely curious as to how well Hamilton does against him if he indeed does play him man to man.

James was on the board in 2018 for the Ravens. They traded out of the spot in a series of moves that ultimately resulted in Hayden Hurst and Lamar Jackson (a draft where the Ravens also took Mark Andrews, Orlando Brown Jr., Zach Sieler, and several other guys still starting in the NFL). Really stuck in the craw for Ravens fans that they didn't take James, but that was alleviated when they wound up getting Hamilton. He's what fans who wanted James hoped we would get back in 2018; like James, Hamilton was all-rookie team and then first-team all pro by his second year.

Will be really interesting to see if he matches up against one of the two best TEs ever in Kelce who has started to look like himself recently. Hamilton is two inches taller than James and is almost the same height as Kelce. That's a matchup people were talking about from the day he was drafted.

No matter how many more injuries we have compared to Baltimore, at least we will have the refs on our side once again like they should every one of our games. Let the haters and crybabies from outside Chiefs Kingdom whine and cry!

Flags fly forever. Toney was a critical part of our SB win last year, so he was worth what we gave up for him.

One thing James has going for him vs Hamilton is familiarity with Kelce. It’s one thing to watch tape, and another to play against him. If Hamilton contains Kelce that will make KCs job much harder as it still depends heavily on Travis being Travis.

Totally fair point re. familiarity.

Hamilton is such a versatile piece that limiting him to only covering Kelce is already a win for the Chiefs since it means he's not ranging sideline to sideline. But Kelce might deserve that treatment.

God bless whatever plan they have for him going forward, he has all the tools... but this is headed for a divorce

Dude is being softly blacklisted, they're holding him out of everything right now when we need every swinging dick clocking in

Toney is TOAST here, goodnight Irene

The guy can’t play an afc champ game because of “personal reasons”. You don’t think the other guys in the locker room will notice that?

It’s over.

He absolutely deserves that treatment. When Patrick absolutely needs to make a play, he looks toward 87 first. Even when KC had Tyreek, that was the case. If they don’t focus on stopping Kelce he will torch them. He shows up big when the lights are brightest. He’s seven receptions from breaking Rice’s playoff reception record and 5 TDs from it. He’s on pace to break records that many thought would never be broken and set by the greatest WR ever. I think because of his personality people get turned off by him and don’t realize what we are witnessing. Only Mahomes is more critical to the success of this offense.

Absolutely. I'm sure the other AFC West teams go into every draft thinking about which players will help them beat the Chiefs. It's a fact of life for them that they know they'll need to go through KC. I know that has happened in the AFC North with the other teams drafting to contain Lamar, which is why they tend to fare far better against the Ravens than the field.

Literally, not one single team in the AFCN has done this. I've never so much as even heard a single fan say something like this. They play better against him simply because they see him more.

Dude, but they've won the division twice in 5 years now... something has to be done to stop him.

And by "they" you're excluding the Bengals, right? Because you're 1-8 against Lamar.

I'm sure the Steelers wouldn't appreciate you stolen valoring their respectable record against Lamar.

Edit: whoops, I said 2-7, but it's actually 1-8.

I've always felt like Mahomes will be the first QB to win 3 SuperBowls in a row

lets go Chiefs!
