Tony will be fine. He does this every year.

They discovered his foot injury last year at this time. He played the entire season with it. His foot is tender where they did the surgery, which is to be expected. But even if it is tender come start of the season, he proved last year that he can play through it, and play WELL.

The comment about LJ and the defense concerns me.

Did he mention if the offense looks that bad or what? Did he expand on that thought?

I agree, I said the same thing yesterday...but you'd hope this wasn't happening post-surgery...I just don't want anything to ruin a (so far) perfect run up to the season...

Shields is dinged up. Dunn is dinged up. Gonzo is dinged up. Holmes is dinged up.

He's never said the offense looks bad or anything less than they have the last 3 seasons, but somebody is going to have to step up if these dings linger into the season.

He also sounded VERY confident that not only would the defense and LJ be needed to win a couple of games, but that they could be counted on to DO it.

but every team has games where one side is awol and the other side has to bail them out...our problem has been the offense never gets bialed out...hopefully that changes this year

Imagine what our offense could do if AS knew the defense could be counted on to make an important stop. :)

It was a Top 10 defense talent wise. As evidenced by how many guys were drafted high in the draft. The problem was they went with a totally different scheme last year. Callahan made a huge mistake in my opinion by not keeping Pelini on as DC. This year they brought in former Osborne DC Charlie McBride to work with Cosgrove. Course Charlie is working sans pay out of loyalty to the program. :thumb: They're returning to more of a blitzing/zone defense like they've always run. It should be vastly different results.

hmmm....I'm hoping Parker gives us a spark..

fyi, I heard Neal Jones on 610 saying Siavii was practising at 1/2 speed and looks out of shape and gassed after every play...basically said he looks just like last year - lazy....I keep hoping for good news about this guy

Chiefnj 08-10-2005 07:43 AM

When he said nobody stands out after Kennison, does that mean they are all doing equally well, or they are all equally mediocre?

I've also heard that Bell won't play this Friday. I still think something is up with Gun. I believe he's got a trick up his sleeve that he doesn't want to release until 9/11. I'm thinking some kind of weird formation using Bell, maybe a falcon type of positioning.

I hope it has nothing to do with Bell's health...
