They've now announced that they'll be releasing the movie, and that it will be in theaters and VOD on the same day. And the movie's now gotten more press than it would have with an expensive PR campaign.

If this works out as a way to cut out the big chains, we could be watching Sony stepping in shit and coming out smelling like a rose.

Many theater owners are now telling the media that they have been informed by Sony that the movie will be made available on VOD on the same day as the limited theatrical release.

No word yet exactly which VOD service is going to be used.
