Not all 5/150 contracts are created equal. Presumably, you’d be expecting that to be a 2- or 3-year deal in reality, with a couple of funny money years to prorate the signing bonus and make the AAV pretty. It could essentially be a 3/90 deal with only $80M hitting the cap in years 1-3. |

Even Aaron Donalds contract was structured as a 5 year deal, only the final 2 years automatically void. So it's 3/95. We could just say the Chiefs will extend CJ at 3/85 like normal people, without trying to infer something. |
Listening to the athletic football show ..
Robert Mays asked Russini what it would take to land Sneed.. “A 1st for sure” Maybe it’s bullshit.. but she’s pretty plugged in |
Honestly, a five year deal would make the most sense for Jones and the Chiefs both.
Jones gets his $30m AAV and the Chiefs can exercise flexibility with his contract. It'll likely be a 2-3 year deal, and his cap hit can be low for the first couple of years while Jones rakes it in in actual cash. You'll have an ugly cap hit in, like Year 4. But the Chiefs can manage that. |
Mock drafts have Quinyon Mitchell going around 15 to the Colts, I'm just still surprised that Sneed isn't worth a first. You're telling me a young guy from Toledo is more valuable than Sneed? Negatives is the contract, and his knee, but you get what you pay for and if you give me the option of a shutdown corner in his prime, the instincts he has, the experience of being a Super Bowl winner on a historic defense and the strength he would give to your secondary. That knee better be the only reason because I could sell him for a first to another team and Veach should be able to secure a 28 - 45 pick for him easy.

If Mitchell is 80% of Sneed on that rookie deal, he's more valuable.
It's all about the $ of the draft pick guys. |

You have to trust your scouts and the people you employ at some point to get it right. |
