Seriously - to any Chiefs fans that aren't Cardinals fans, you really should give it a try.

This is the franchise that fuels me through November and December when I know the Chiefs, Blues and Tigers are well on their way to ripping my heart out.

When everything falls to shit, I know that by God, I'll get an effort out of my Redbirds.

It doesn't make sense to the players in the organization either. That's another thing. The kid has to deal with this his whole career until they win. He wanted to pitch, but fair or not, he will hold the pressure on his shoulders(oh no) to justify this move. Atleast make him the 7th inning guy or something. Wow.

Imagine he is on the roster. You bring him in during that 9th inning rally. Who knows what happens.

I thought the Strasburg thing was a bad idea from the beginning... but I think people are just going to pile on now, I'm not sure it would've made a difference here. Odds are he would've just as well been starting tonight. Unless he went 9 innings he's not going to stop the Cardinals leprechaun of doom.

Yeah...that's the thing. Every pitcher has a limited shelf life, you don't know how long any of them will last, especially an arm like Strasburg. Why not take advantage of his health when you can...when you're actually in the playoffs? It was a bad move.

Agreed. Its baseball. You can't promise yourself you are going to get chances with teams like this every year. I don't know how the players didn't riot when they officially shut him down. All 24 men should have busted the GM's door down.

His knees. No one thought he would play 100 games and was in danger of blowing out a knee and you would get nothing in production out of him. It was a big gamble.

Washington Nationals.... wow, are you guys dumb.

I can understand and appreciate not wanting to overtax a young pitcher's arm, but if its game 5 of the NLDS, you've gotta throw him out there. Congrats cardinals, I guess, you guys are lucky that the Nats are idiots.

From your cubs site:

"If the engines on the Cardinals plane went out on their way to San Francisco for the ALCS one of their [expletive] payers would probably hop out onto the wings and manually restart the engines and safe the [expletive] day. I [expletive] hate them."

"To recap the last calendar year plus for the cardinals:

-get into playoffs after braves suffer one of the greatest collapses in history.
-beat heavily favored phillies, whose bats completely fall asleep.
-win world series over favored rangers after rangers blow a pair of two-run leads in game six. top performers include people named allen craig and david freese.
-make the playoffs in 2012 as a team that wouldn't have made the playoffs in any other year since major league baseball began.
-win "play-in" game after a disputed call and horrendous defense by the opposing team.
-win game five of NLDS after very good opposing starter struggles to hold lead, very good opposing bullpen melts down, and people named daniel descalso and peter kozma overcome a two-run deficit in the ninth inning. "

jd1020 10-12-2012 11:29 PM

Meh. I don't even care about the 1 game playoff win... I don't agree with that format at all, anything can happen in 1 game and this isn't football where people are beating the shit out of each other so wtf is there a 1 game playoffs series. But it's not like you can guarantee the Cards don't win the game anyways.

Beltran was fantastic for the Giants last season. He had a .323/.369/.551 line for them to add to the .289/.391/.513 line that he had for the Mets prior to that. 2 years/26M was an incredible bargain for a hitter of his caliber despite the injury concerns.

No, it wasn't a dream.

I think this may be sweeter for us Chief/Cardinal fans than any other group of cardinal fans. We have to see our beloved Chiefs underperform each week. Displeased with the direction of the team. Our Cardinals overperform their talent level. Our future is bright. The young quality pitching that we are amassing is going to gaurantee that there is no window to win. This window of opportunity is going to stay open.

What a chokejob by the Nats. Wow, bet yeah they wish they had Stras in the pen for that one.

Storen looked like he "pulled an Izzy" and pitched around Molina and Freese putting the tying run in scoring position. Dumbass.

I don't know, you are playing to get one more out. Who is more likely to get that out, Molina, Freese or Delcaso?

No, it wasn't a dream.

I think this may be sweeter for us Chief/Cardinal fans than any other group of cardinal fans. We have to see our beloved Chiefs underperform each week. Displeased with the direction of the team. Our Cardinals overperform their talent level. Our future is bright. The young quality pitching that we are amassing is going to gaurantee that there is no window to win. This window of opportunity is going to stay open.

NEVER put the tying run on base much less scoring position, it's dumb. The odds of any slapdick hitting a single are too great...unless you are going up against a heavily armored, roided Barry Bonds or something.

I came home from work and it was 6-0. Didn't even figure it was worth watching so I watched a movie with the Mrs. When the movie was over I checked ESPN and was stunned. I went up to my wife all crestfallen saying that the Cardinals had fallen behind 6-0 in the elimination game. The I perked up and told her they won 9-7.
