Yeah, you can't say a fan has given up unless they stop watching the game. You can honestly assess how terrible the team has played so far and how unlikely a win is, but by staying with the game, you are basically saying "damn, this sucks, but there's still a chance, I guess".

Bearcat 10-12-2015 04:29 PM

Yeah, it's crazy anyone would bring up that stuff now... everyone knows who should get crap 162+ games a year for calling "game over"/"season over", etc. Talk to those people when it's the 3rd inning of game one, after game one, halfway through game 2, any time during game 3, when it was tied today or even 3-2.

But yeah, there comes a time when any reasonable person is going to say "damn, they're going to lose"... but, please don't say everyone was pete today, as I said, "reasonable person."

The Astros have been a fun series. Win or lose, they're fun to watch, and the fans have been very respectful.

If the Royals don't win game 5, I'm absolutely rooting for Houston over either the Jays or the Rangers.

I know you personally. You are as good a guy as there is. I took your post as nothing but respect.

That being said I think you took a couple of responses to it a little too personal. They were no different than the typical response any of us Chiefs' fans give our liked rival fans here. A harsh "eat a dick" reply is known to be with in the realm of sports rivalry and no more (in most cases). I'm pretty sure that is all that was going on here.

100%

and we should counter with Wade ****ing Davis

Seriously. Ned should go in with the thought process of Davis pitching 9 outs. And I know tk13 is going to laugh out loud at this ... but it is what it is. It's the postseason, and you can't hit him.

Maddon is going to pitch Arrieta 150+ if he needs to every time out ... no reason we can't pitch Davis 9 outs in an elimination game. That's how much better he is than anyone else on the Royals pitching staff.

Why wouldn't we start Medlen and give Cueto an extra day? What's Medlen good for if he's just going to collect dust?

Fansy the Famous Bard 10-12-2015 05:03 PM

Bad feeling or not. THIS is what we got Cueto for. We need this to work. It has to work.

Hootie 10-12-2015 05:04 PM

...because Cueto, despite his troubles in KC, is a bona fide, proven ace. This is what we brought him here to do. If he chokes on his dick, so be it ... but there is no way that guy shouldn't get the ball in game 5 over Kris Medlen. I like Medlen, and I think Cueto should have a C.J. Wilson sized leash ... but Cueto gets the go IMO

But in Ned I trust.

Our starting pitching ironically wasn't too bad ...
You have to score more than 2 ****ing runs a game. This is the 3rd game out of 4 that we've only scored 2 runs.

Everyone is swinging for the fences and probably rightly so since we can't seem to score any other way.

Ned went into "I don't give a shit" mode in early September and imo, it cost us. We sat back, feeling all big and fat like we were entitled to something. Now we are going home after round 1 of the playoffs.

I honestly feel fine about Cueto. He's had some bad luck lately but has actually looked OK overall. This is his moment to come up big. The key is that Ned has to be fast on the hook - if he's in trouble and his stuff looks bad, they gotta get it to the bullpen before they dig a big hole.

1. '85 WS game 6
2. '14 WC

This ^^^ Tex has been nothing but respectful of the game threads. But CP always somebody goes off. I like when someone that supports the other team gives GDT some variety and perspective. Now if they are being an asshole then have at them but Tex isn't that.
