If one didn't know the names of any of these players, average scout may think good starting QB surrounded by a couple of very good weapons and one all time great receiver (Hill) based upon that game film alone.

And for most football fans, I suspect they came to the same conclusion. Brady looked like a great all around passer that rather consistently capitalized when his receivers had an opening but it was Hill who stole the show in a 3 TD performance. Splitting defenders on one key play like they were standing still. One can say Patriots made "mistakes" in coverage on him a few times and that is probably true but he was absolutely electric in capitalizing on those mistakes and made the Patriots defenders look really silly on a few plays.

No disrespect to Mahomes but given the choice between replacing Hill with an average starting wide receiver or Mahomes with an average starting QB for this game as a Patriots fan, I would replace Hill if the weather is in the 20's or above.

The guy was sensational in that game and has obviously had many electric plays the last couple of seasons.

Mahomes using players like Kelce/whoever may beat the Patriots this upcoming Sunday but as a fan of the Patriots, Hill is the player on the Chiefs offense I fear the most.

XD god Patriots fans are the gift that keeps on giving

Eric Berry a FULL participant in practice today.

They’re fixing to unleash him with zero limitations against Gronk. It’s the only thing that makes sense here. Guy couldn’t play Saturday but is a full go now with great optimism about his health heading into the week per Rapoport.

Something fishy about this..

Why is everyone so concerned about Gronkowski. 5 catches in 1 month. Just don't put a total scrub on him and we should keep him contained. Much more concerned with the 2 headed beast of Michel and White.

I’d like to be able to provide extra coverage toward Edelman and having Berry on Gronk makes that easier.

I don’t get it either. I think it will look something like this:

Eh. He had 3 catches in the first game and 1 was on Shaw and 1 was on Parker. The "Patriots are washed up" talk is really silly, but Gronkowski is the one exception there, and even the Patriots brass knows it. That's why Belicheck wanted to ship him out of there before the rest of the league caught on.

Finally, some honest reality from this site. Could not agree more. Two good teams, vying it out in KC under tough weather conditions. Either could win, based on all the metrics.

Reid is a great coach and has elevated his team to the pinnacle of competitive performance. Should be a great event to watch and hopefully will be a clean, no-excuse decision. Thank you God, for allowing me to be here to witness yet another game for the ages.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-16-2019 04:59 PM

Seriously though—the Chiefs told us last week that Berry’s heel became sore after the first day of practice and we didn’t hear about him playing after that.

Now, this week they were willing to cut Parker, he’s a FP in practice, and people within the organization have told Rapoport that they’re confident about his health heading into Sunday. How could that be if he missed last week because he was sore after the first practice?

It might sound a little crazy but I’m really beginning to wonder if they sat him out intentionally again.

RunKC 01-16-2019 05:03 PM

So what is our plan on defense? Gotta stop the run. That’s the priority above everything else. Gotta think we will have Edelman doubled the entire game.

I’m thinking on a lot of early passes he will drop at least one OLB into coverage to take away the zone in the middle of the field for slants and pick routes that Brady does.

I know people will be pissed, but Brady gets the ball off on those plays in at the most 2 seconds. Pass rush won’t matter on those plays.

That's why you have to play press man and have the personnel to do it. Disrupt his timing and make him wait another half second for someone to come open.

At this point Brady seems like Alex Smith - deluxe version. Does he ever throw bombs any more?

That fumble by KC on a return which bounced 4-5 yards UPFIELD, towards where the Colts should have rushing.....but no Colt within camera range, and recovered by the Chiefs...? Their TE, Ebron, dropped at least two gimmes, stopping the Colts in their tracks! The four points AV missed!

And still the Chiefs struggled to stay ahead in that game? They better plan to step it up a couple of notches this week or it will a long day for them and their fans.

I've liked everything else you've posted on here but this one. Give it a few seasons and you will hate, fear, and respect Mahomes just as so many teams now do with Brady. You're making a mistake minimizing his skillset by citing a strong supporting cast. Chiefs fans saw him in week 17 at Denver last season making offensive afterthoughts like Anthony Sherman and Albert Wilson look like Eric Dickerson and Jerry Rice...in his very first start. The guy makes magic happen. Period.

I think KC has to make stopping the run priority #1 and #2 for that matter.. NE doesn’t have the dynamic weapons to be too worried over top all the time. It’s not their style.

Just make sure you put Brady in plenty of 3rd and 6+ situations and we’re going to be just fine.

Brackets dont work vs Edelman. He sees the bracket, will change his alignment, or break off the route and not run into the bracket.

Think of Edelman as the QB of the WRs. He'll waive off Tom or run an option route which will draw the double just so someone else is in single coverage.

When Gronk could actually run, he told him what to do all the time.

Tom seems to have missed more wide open targets this year than in year's past. I don't think it's age or mental acuity but more systemic of the flux at WR.

If you ask a lot of QB's...sometimes the hardest throws are the simple ones to those who are wide open with no one around.

Sounds weird I know. But it's true.

I used to pitch in baseball...and I used to HATE it when a ball would get dinked to me. The hardest throw ever was that throw to 1B when it felt like you had all the time in the world to make a nice easy simple toss.

There is something to it no question. Look- Tom is 41. I have no doubt in my mind hes lost something. He can still sling it. He can still move around in the pocket. He can still process 1000 things in 10 seconds. But I question in those situations that require a .00002 millisecond reaction time he can handle consistently. Hes human. He needs the anticipation and that comes with comfort in his receiving corps.

Hell I'm 47 and in my youth played DII hoops. I cant do the stuff I did back then. I'd snap or break something and while in my mind I have the reaction time the body says, "nope, no way you are doing that.".

More proof the Mexico thing was bullshit. They used the field as an excuse to move the game to LA for the poor beaten down fire victims. We would have never been allowed to win after they paraded out a bunch of victims before the game and constantly asked for donations.

Sassy Squatch 01-16-2019 07:50 PM

LMAO Reid is feeling it.

@ByNateTaylor
I just asked Andy Reid about Patrick Mahomes' leadership ability. In his answer, Reid looked at me & said, "he's made some of you guys better writers."

And if you look at all of the comments, it's backfiring. BIGLY.

Going to be hash tagging #metoo once we finish abusing them.

Took the liberty of fixing your post. Hope you don't mind

Personally I'd like to see most of them sent to the romper room. A couple are ok but that's about it. Completely agree that they need to stick to actual game related thread.

I just checked up again and there’s been no changes—I’ve still got...

Pugs you’re the CP postseason MVP and it’s not even close

Weather channel went from 3 degree night time prediction 4 days ago to 19 today.

That’s a hell of a swing.

Forecasts more than 5 days out are incredibly unreliable. That's why people normally don't pay that much attention...

unless there's a game happening outside that's the biggest game the Chiefs have had in 25 years (and possibly ever).

Yup, NWS regularly cheeseballs forecasts. 48 hours out you will have a pretty solid indication, but even then it isn't exact. I read a lot of weather since it's part of my job.

They're grasping at straws. A new era is beginning & they know it. They should have kept Jimmy G. Don't be surprised if Brady announces his retirement this off-season.

Up to 25 now with a low of just 20.

I'll wait, this should be good.

Colts blew the opportunity to score a TD from the 10 YL and make it a 10 point lead at the half....even missed the bunny FG to make it a 14 pt deficit.

How many encroachment penalties did the Colts have to help lose that game? I lost count. KC did nothing else the rest of the way, except for a garbage time score to fool you fans into thinking it was a solid win. The Chiefs escaped a team that had looked so good to close out their season (10-1), and then laid an egg in the Playoffs.

I wasn't impressed because with the Colts looking that bad, I would have expected the Chiefs to lay 50 on them.

I read that Mahomes practiced the hard count for the whole week to draw them offsides. That is just excellent preparation, Brady and Belichick would be getting a lot of credit for doing something like this.
