I said it in the game thread and I'll say it again here: this version of Frank Clark is fool's gold. Bolles is just that bad.
|
DOesn't even look like the same player as last week

Nice game Frank!!
|
|
Before tonight, he was at rock bottom.
Tonight we know that he can at the very least make Garrett Bolles his bitch. It's a start... |
He played really well.
|
Nice game Frank!
...and D. |

Great game by Clark and the whole Defense.
Let’s hope it has some longevity |
He looked great tonight. Hopefully he keeps it up.
|
It's a good start for the whole defense, and a step in the right direction for Clark.

Denver fan has to LOVE the abortion known as Bolles. |

Wow, that OL was brutal. I was pretty down on ours, but Denver's is beyond repair. They need to blow that team up. Fire everyone and start over. |

Surely he’s going to have surgery this offseason on the elbow(s).
|
I know Denver isnt good but I don't think any other defense has so thoroughly dismantled them this season. That was just a brutal beat down.

And two backup OTs. This is a very good sign. |
Let’s talk about that piece of trash Dee Ford again for a little while.
He’s no longer starting for the 49ers and has been on the field for 78/221 snaps in the past four games - 35 percent. He’s a productive situational pass rusher. And that’s exactly how the 49ers are using him. Trading him was absolutely the right thing to do. He’s being paid like a 3-down player/star and isn’t close to that. If last night was a sign of Clark getting healthy/right and back in business, I’m confident Clark ends up having a better overall year and is the better player going forward. |
Piece of trash is harsh

Not when you normally refer to him as a piece of shit. |

As long as I don't have to wait another seven games for him to do it again... but it's a start.

Nothing to do with it, actually. Everything to do with him being a soft, weak-ass, off-injured player who also is a goddamn idiot as an NFL player. Dorsey fell in love with him because he was a workout warrior and passed up a bunch of other good defensive players. |
This was before last nights game
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Dee Ford<br>-91.1 overall grade<br>-17 pressures<br>-4 sacks<br>-12 QB hurries<br>-1 QB hit<br>-0 INT<br>-118 snaps<br><br>Frank Clark<br>-56.1 overall grade<br>-17 pressures<br>-1 sack<br>-13 QB hurries<br>-3 QB hits<br>-1 INT<br>-354 snaps (exactly triple the amount of snaps of Dee Ford’s snaps)<br><br>Source: PFF</p>— Farzin Vousoughian (@Farzin21) <a href="https://twitter.com/Farzin21/status/1184452396241637378?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 16, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> The only thing Dee Ford has was more sacks. That was it. And yes Clark has played far more snaps, BUT that means they know Dee Ford sucks vs the run. He isn’t playing on 1st down very often. Yeah. Hated the compensation to get him, but Frank Clark is still better. |
Quote:
The missing component from PfF grades, IMO, is positional/situational adjustments. Ford is a situational speed rusher the Niners are protecting by hiding from non-passing situations. So his grades, by their system, will always look awesome. |

So yeah, establish a pattern please and let's revisit this a few weeks down the road. |
He certainly earned a reprieve from my ire last night... but if it’s just a flash in the pan, it’ll bubble right back to the surface

For edge players, they seem to place a high value on percentage of plays that generated a pass rush. Obviously, a situational rusher who is playing roughly 1/3 of snaps, on passing downs, is going to have a higher percentage of pressures because they’re not out there for “unpredictable situation” throws. |

Also, I mean we're in a thread titled "Frank Clark ****ing sucks", seems like PFF's grade is agreeing with a lot of people here? |

Because he’s a one-trick pony and the niners are using him as such. |

I’m not sure if he’s got the health back but Hitchens mentioned that the whole night was just about playing with a new mentality... said some vets challenged everyone to put their foot down; enough was enough.
We’ll see.. |

For example if Dee Ford stays healthier playing less snaps and proceeds to put up better numbers in half the snaps that kinda makes the Chiefs look like idiots. |
Veach is that guy that if he goes bargain shopping he does pretty solid. Ward, Ogbah etc etc.
But the minute he has bank to go spend he uses it on things that turn into lemons. |

But would you pay that 1-trick $17 million a year? Or $18 million on the franchise tag? I wouldn’t. |

With that being said, I dont think that Dee Ford will have that kind of production again and it surprises the shit out of me that Dee Ford hasn't missed a game. So if I had to pick between these options: 1. Dee Ford long term 5 yr $85.5 mil 2. Dee Ford franchise tag 3. Frank Clark give up 1st 2nd rnd draft pick and 5 yr $104 mil contract. Basically get our 2nd rounder back. 4. Keep Houston on his contract 5. None of the Aabove This is how I rank my options 4 5 2 3 1 So in my opinion we didnt choose the worst option, but it was the 2nd worst. And now Frank's out because he some how hurt hus neck, so after Sunday, Clark will have missed more games than Ford this year. |
Lol have to love how everybody on CP has hindsight on their side.
Like anybody could’ve predicted this happening with one of the leagues best and most consistent edge rushers over the last few years. |
