I won’t disagree, just curious as to how far their “fairness” extends. Is it only if KC gets the 1 seed or would it be the same if Buffalo or Cincy get it?

So your argument against fact… Cincy leading in the game before Buffalo quit… is to offer hypotheticals about what could have happened?

LMAO

Cinci said they also didn’t want to play. It was a mutual quitting.

The NFL is moving toward a solution, necessitated by the decision not to proceed with the Week 17 game between the Bills and Bengals.

Per multiple sources, the Competition Committee will convene at 6:00 p.m. ET to vote on the approach to AFC playoff seeding based on the fact that Buffalo and Cincinnati will have played 16 games, and that the rest of the conference will have played 17.

It’s unclear whether the vote will be binding. Most likely, it will proceed to the Commissioner, who could in theory veto it. Given the circumstances, it’s highly unlikely that a full ownership vote would be required.

Possibilities include a neutral site for the AFC Championship, if it involves two of the three teams most affected by the cancellation of the game — the Bills, Bengals, and Chiefs. Some have suggested that, if the Chiefs are the No. 1 seed, they would choose either the bye or home-field advantage against the Bills or Bengals, whichever finishes as the No. 2 seed.

The possibility of adding an eighth team to the AFC playoff field would require collective bargaining with the NFL Players Association. There is no indication that any such discussions with the union have happened.

There presumably is a small theoretical chance that Bills-Bengals will still be played, given the unexpected good news from earlier today about the status of Damar Hamlin. That would require configuration of the playoff schedule. All indications currently point, however, to the game not being played.

So if we lose to the Faid and the Bills or Bengals end up with home field all this goes away and the #1 seed get the bye and HFA? That sounds fair.

Competition Committee voting was supposed to start at 6:00 p.m. Eastern.

Apparently they are doing mail-in voting… this shit is taking forever.

I agree that is kinda bullshit.

Either KC losses or KC loses half the 1 seed perks.

Then it should be a no contest, seed based off win % and give all seeding perks as if all 17 were played. #1 seed gets the bye and HFA, not one or the other. Punish the teams who refused to play a couple of days later.

Are we going to pretend that means Cinci wins the game?? It was the 1st quarter for goodness sake. They could have thrown a pick 6 on the very next play. Cinci went up like 18-0 against NE last week and then needed a miracle redzone fumble with a minute to go to not lose the game. Against Mac Jones!

There was at least a 50-55% chance of a Buffalo loss IMHO. This does not qualify Buffalo to have home field advantage on KC. The other 85% of the game should have been played in the last 2-3 days. Both Buffalo & Cincy have now gained a sort of bye week compared to everyone else in the league by only playing 15% of that game.

When two good/great teams meet up, the probability usually flip flops between the two teams as the game progresses. For instance, when BUF came to KC earlier this year, the odds of either team winning according to ESPN's Win Probability Calculator swung back and forth about three times for each team. Basically, the same thing when KC played CIN a few weeks later.

At the moment the game was suspended CIN was around 59% probability to win, but literally three minutes before that, BUF had a 52% chance to win. There's no real way to figure which team would've won had they completed the game on Monday night.

Convenient for Cincy that they avoided 85% of the injury risk by not playing the rest of that game, AND locked up their division by only having 16 games instead of 17.

Feel free to make up whatever stance you want about how the Bills feel about all of this and get angry about it. That's a lot of the posts from today.

Cincy deferred to Buffalo’s decision to quit.

It’s probably going to Goodell first for final confirmation and I might imagine the teams are informed before it’s made public. So not sure how imminent it will be.

Oh i’m sure that was being discussed in their headsets.

I'm talking about on Tuesday/Wednesday. Cincy could have stood up and demanded to finish the game.
