While a faceless man angle would be intriguing, I don't think they'd reintroduce a previous season storyline at this point.

It seemed like last week they kind of paired off major/supporting characters - Arya and Gendry, Sansa and Theon, Jorah and Sam, Jamie and Brienne. I think one from each pair will die in the next episode, and the only question is which one, and what other soon-to-be-undead corpses will be added to the pile?

Obviously Jon and Dany are paired as well, but I just don't see them killing off one of them until the very end.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. I was watching something on YouTube a couple of days ago suggesting that Tyrion's recent bout of stupidity has been according to a plan, and that he's going to spring some shit on everybody. Who knows?

I think there's one more "major" twist coming. D&D said GRRM gave them three major twists in a meeting they had with him after Season 3. The first one was Shireen, the second was Hodor, and the third....?

I agree that a Tyrion betrayal/reveal that he's breaking the wheel on his own accord is the most likely at this point.

I just can't believe there's a Tyrion twist, because that would mean him siding with Cersei. Just...no.

Varys has been awfully quiet.

That would be contradictory to the core of his ethos since he was always been about whats best for the Kingdom with no indication whatsoever for the past 8 seasons that he has been any other way.

He also had that chat with Bran off screen that probably could lead him to do something down the road that would be controversial.

Good point.

I don't think it would be Tyrion siding with Cersei.

I think it would be something like Tyrion deciding that he should break the monarchy in the Seven Kingdoms altogether. That means betraying Dany, Jon, Cersei, everyone.

Personally, I would love for him to defy Dany and set King's Landing ablaze with Wildfire after it's stormed by the WW - all the while Jaime chokes out Cersei to prevent her from stopping Tyrion (the exact opposite of what Jaime did as the Kingslayer). As Cersei would prefer to be queen of the ashes than defeating the WW. A million people die in an instant with the Wildfire, but humanity, overall, is saved. A real cool fan theory I've read says that Bran has to warg back to the Mad King to prevent Aerys from burning KL during Robert's Rebellion, and Tyrion's screaming of "Burn them All" is what causes the Mad King to scream it and Jaime to kill him - saving the Wildfire for the White Walkers. I don't know how Bran survives next week but the back in time warg to the Mad King is one of my more favored fan theories - especially with how much that moment has been featured in Bran's visions (as well as a burned down KL).

Basically, if Tyrion burns KL, he is acting as a "good" Thanos and the ultimate utilitarian. I could see him sentenced to death for this by Dany - for which she says is because he slaughtered thousands, but the audience is left wondering if it's really because the throne/monarchy is gone (they're planting the seeds to this). A "bittersweet" ending could be the Targs re-taking the throne, with advisers just like the advisers we saw at the beginning of the series. However, the audience could wonder if Tyrion's move to "break the wheel" would have been much better overall for the kingdoms.

A bonus would be Arya and the Hound taking on the Mountain (****ING CONFIRMED) while Tyrion and Jaime deal with the wildfire/cersei.

Yeah, I'm gonna say that's probably not happening.

While I don't see the Night King attacking King's Landing with his ice dragon either, I sure as hell hope that happens.

That's where I am.

I don't believe what I wrote above is going to happen - but it's pretty clear there's one last twist at the Shireen/Hodor level on the way.

In Season 5, Shireen's twist was heavily foreshadowed. In Season 6, we knew something was about to happen with Hodor.

So far in Season 8, we have Tyrion acting "off" since Season 6? And Dany starting to indicate she'd prefer the iron throne than actually breaking the wheel. I think the twist is somewhere there, even if it's not what I wrote above.

I do think King's Landing/The Red Keep is going to get wiped out, though. That's been foreshadowed for a while.

I still think he shows up at Winterfell Sunday, just not at the beginning of the battle. He has a hundred thousand pieces of cannon fodder to weaken the living, and another hundred thousand he can bring along with him in a second wave.

The Tyrion twist could be that either he’s a Targaryen, or he goes behind Danny’s back to put Jon on the throne.

RustShack 04-24-2019 04:15 PM

I think the Night King “falls” for Brans trap. I could see the dragons killing the white walker dragon, but the Night King is unfazed by the fire and kills Theon and whoever else is with Bran.

Chiefspants 04-24-2019 04:24 PM

I’d love to see Longclaw shatter too. It’d be awesome if we left Ep. 3 with the NK feeing invincible - especially if it looked like he was about to face a killing blow from Jon.
