Mizzou football is sooooo screwed this season

The program is a hot mess. If the Spring Game was any indication, we're going to be testing the quality of the QB depth chart this year.
Offensive Line was total ass. Lock looked bigger, but not big enough to take the shit pounding he will be receiving. |
I cant remember ever being so apathetic about Mizzou sports than now...
Basketball program has been dead and irrelevant for 3 years now and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Football program has been a mess the last year and coming off the worst year since, what 2004? It was worse than 2012 IMO, almost unwatchable alot of times even though the defense was really good. And yeah, I don't see a huge jump this year...Could be back to back below average years for the first time in a while and then what after that? I like Odom, but can he and his staff recruit enough talent to get us back to what we were or better? I don't know... It just sucks. Terrible time to be a Tiger. No optimism or hope really for both sports for me right now... |
I like Odom, but holy **** did they walk him into an unwinnable situation.
I think the pressure to turn the football program around, and somewhat fast, is very high. After last fall, they need some success from a major program to bring some excitement and booster money back in. Not a ****ing chance the basketball program will be anything over a wet fart for at least 5 years, once Afkimistan is finally liberated. The pressure will be squarely on the football program. Always thought Odom would have been best to simmer at the top of the Memphis program for awhile, where he could be easily raided if their gamble on an outsider failed. I do think he will be successful eventually, but it may not be here. |
The offensive line is definitely going to be the biggest question. The kid they added from Georgia this week has them very excited from what I'm told. He slipped through the cracks because his Hs coach didn't think he would qualify and wasn't passing info to him about offers, but he is qualified and ready to go.
They think he can help right away. We will see. I expect the RB play to be better - the OU transfer is going to be a big help there. If the OL is just solid, I think they're a 7-8 win team again, which would be a huge bounce back for Odom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Look - basketball is a piece of shit.
But why so down on football right now? Mizzou's O-Line and WRs were garbage last year; the defense was actually as good as its ever been. Well the O-Line has a lot more talent now and a better coach. The WR corps has been improved as well. As for the RB defections - yeah, they suck. But RB was such a shitshow last year that it can't get any worse. If nothing else, a year in the system should have Witter being less awful than he was last year. {shrug} It could be worse. They're still getting nice recruits (two big time WRs from the KC area in the last week and the OL from Georgia). They were getting interest from the Baylor RB until the assholes at Baylor wouldn't release him from his commitment, which is just unbelievable to me. The program isn't in shambles. Odom's going to have some work to do but just how easy can anyone expect an SEC head coaching job to be? |
I guess I have a certain level of optimism based on, what I believe to be, a very talented, up-and coming staff. Big fan of the Josh heupel hire and I think he will add a lot to an offense that was running in reverse all last season. There seems to be some help at receiver in guys like Chris Black and Johnathan Johnson, who is coming off injury.

Missouri won't get close to being in the SEC title game for a while.
They'll be lucky to avoid being Vandy pre-James Franklin bad. |
