If those guys will ever stop winning 2/3 of their ballgames, the Cardinals will probably give Yadi a rest. Matheny wants to stay the hell out of that wild card game and it's awfully hard to rest your best player when you've got the best record in baseball...and a 2 game lead.

I understand that line of thinking, but I also think that Matheny's management is often too myopic, especially with the grind of the season.

If he never rests Yadi the division may end up being a Pyrrhic victory.

You can't argue the logic of resting Yadi. At the same time, it's easy to see why he doesn't. Moreover, it seems damn near impossible to get the gear off the guy anyway.
